Fu Jiuyun assured her they had plenty of time, promising to be with her even inside the spiritual lamp.
Tan Chuan expressed concern about him becoming the lamp's wick, fearing it would be too crowded with his immense power. Fu Jiuyun affectionately asked when she had fallen in love with him, to which Tan Chuan coyly replied, "Every moment." She told him that time was meaningless as long as they were together and that their happiness would endure as long as death didn't tear them apart.
Following a night of intimacy, Tan Chuan jokingly told Fu Jiuyun she would "be responsible" for him. He revealed he had been watching her long before she even knew him, making the seawater feel pink to him in their newfound closeness. Fu Jiuyun expressed a desire to rid the world of evil so Tan Chuan could live a carefree life in his arms. However, Tan Chuan recognized that fate awaited them.
As dawn broke, they prepared to return to the land. Fu Jiuyun playfully feigned a grave injury, worrying Tan Chuan, only to confess he wanted a kiss. He then promised to fashion the Nanman demon king into a bracelet for her after its defeat. Tan Chuan reflected, realizing she now had vitality in her heart because of him.
She questioned if he truly wouldn't light the spiritual lamp, and Fu Jiuyun affirmed they could become a formidable couple, known for striking fear into demons, capable of protecting Li's people and maintaining peace without lighting the lamp. He even humorously suggested they would need many children to help them with their future endeavors. Upon their return, Meishan immediately rushed to Fu Jiuyun, worried about his condition and pulling him away to heal his injuries.
Ting Yuan approached Tan Chuan, reassuring her that the position of Tianyuan's crown princess would always be reserved for her, and he would deploy his entire army to pursue Fu Jiuyun if he ever mistreated her. As Meishan tended to Fu Jiuyun, he urged him to rest, warning that his body was too weak to even light the lamp. Tan Chuan, concerned for Fu Jiuyun's health, offered to be the leader of the Qingying Formation. However, Fu Jiuyun vehemently refused, asserting that his vast immortal power and experience made him the undeniable choice. She sincerely wished Xuanzhu could find similar understanding.
As they prepared for their journey to the extreme north, Tan Chuan made Xuanzhu promise to return alive, while Xuanzhu expressed confidence that with the Qingying stone and spiritual lamp, the demon would be vanquished. Xuanzhu then inquired about seeing the spiritual lamp. It was revealed that once lit, the spiritual lamp subdues all demons, but it also establishes a blood bond with a master.
When someone sacrifices their spirit to fuel the lamp, the lamp becomes inextinguishable, but the blood bond master suffers for eternity. Later, Fu Jiuyun led Tan Chuan to a bamboo forest, where they playfully carved their names into the stalks, imagining their names growing taller with the bamboo, signifying their enduring love.
Fu Jiuyun tenderly embraced Tan Chuan, musing that even if their bodies perished and memories were erased, their existence would be attested to by their names on the bamboo. Tan Chuan pointed out she would eventually be an old woman while he remained eternally youthful, prompting Fu Jiuyun to promise he would find a way to shed his immortality to age gracefully with her. Upon reaching the volcano, they observed the severely worsening conditions.
Inside, Fu Jiuyun created a barrier, purposefully leaving Meishan and the others outside, declaring that this battle was solely between him and Tan Chuan, and that he intended to manipulate the power of the five elements himself, even if it meant sacrificing tens of thousands of years of his cultivation. The Demon King appeared, expressing his delight at their arrival and demanding the spiritual lamp to usher in an era where demons would rule the three realms.
Fu Jiuyun attempted to use illusion magic, but it proved ineffective against the Demon King, who scoffed at "Immortal Mei's" inability to break his enchantment. Recognizing the Qingying stone, the Demon King disparaged its power, claiming it could not harm him. As the Demon King attacked, Fu Jiuyun shielded Tan Chuan, but a black mist engulfed him, trapping him and subsequently Meishan, Zuo Zichen, Ting Yuan, and Xuanzhu in a powerful illusion.
