Cang Xuan watched Jiuyao die in his arms and awoke with a start from the illusion caused by his grandfather’s tea. He frantically told his grandfather about the experience in the illusion, firmly denying that he had killed Tushan Jing. His grandfather expressed trust but also pointed out that Cang Xuan was too naïve about Xiao Yao and the noble families’ schemes, failing to see through the background of the death warriors. Cang Xuan blamed himself.

His grandfather solemnly urged him not to betray Jiuyao’s trust. Cang Xuan gave a solemn promise. His grandfather nodded with relief, glad that their opponent had lacked the patience to drive Cang Xuan into complete ruin. Chishui Fenglong accidentally exposed the true identities of the death warriors and angrily confronted Chenrong Xinyue. Facing the accusation, Xinyue calmly admitted everything and revealed that her original target was Xiling Jiuyao. However, Fangfeng Yiying’s sudden betrayal changed the situation.

Fenglong was deeply disappointed in Xinyue’s obsession. The two had a fierce argument. Yet Xinyue remained unusually firm, promising Fenglong that she would bear all consequences alone and never implicate him or his family. Later, Fenglong approached Xinyue and told her the trouble in Qingshui Town had been resolved by him, but this help was a one-time thing. He hoped she would learn her lesson and act more cautiously in the future.

Then, Fenglong left in disappointment, leaving Xinyue to face her choices alone. Elsewhere, Cang Xuan visited Jiuyao and was shocked to see her hair had turned white. His heart ached. Jiuyao, however, didn’t mind and explained why she had said things were different before the wedding. In her heart, her mother was both a close relative and a citizen of Xiyan. When the two conflicted, she knew she would be abandoned and bore no resentment for it.

But Tushan Jing was different—she would always be his priority. Jiuyao firmly believed Tushan Jing was still alive and vowed to keep searching. Cang Xuan promised to continue sending people to look for him and held Jiuyao tightly, blaming himself for everything. Though Jiuyao still had doubts in her heart, she gently responded to his embrace. Cang Xuan angrily confronted Xinyue, questioning whether she had killed Tushan Jing. Xinyue silently admitted it, saying Jiuyao was her original target.

Enraged, Cang Xuan slapped Xinyue and vowed not to strip her of her queen title but to deprive her of all power, leaving her isolated and tormented. After saying this, he stormed off, leaving Xinyue collapsed on the ground. Cang Xuan then ordered Rushou and Qin Mang to lead troops to suppress the Chenrong rebel army. Unexpectedly, Chishui Fenglong volunteered, his attitude firm. Cang Xuan reluctantly agreed.

When Fenglong’s father heard of this, he was furious that Fenglong had forgotten his roots. Fenglong had no choice but to reveal the truth—he wanted to earn the emperor’s forgiveness for his sister Xinyue through military merit. Only then did his father understand his hardship and sigh helplessly. Before the expedition, Fenglong visited Xinyue but was driven away by her angry scolding. Their grandfather informed Jiuyao of Fenglong’s expedition, worried she couldn’t let go of her feelings for Xiang Liu.

Jiuyao held back tears, recalling happy times in Qingshui Town, her eyes reddened, but she insisted she had come to terms with the impermanence of the world. Xiang Liu set a trap, and Hongjiang took the opportunity to ambush Chishui Fenglong, causing heavy losses to the Xiyan army. The court was in an uproar, with many calling for a change in command. However, replacing the general would sow doubt among both supporters and opponents of Fenglong.

Cang Xuan had full faith in Fenglong and decided to go to Qingshui Town personally to investigate. Jiuyao heard this and wanted to go with him. Cang Xuan initially refused but eventually agreed, supported by their grandfather and recalling Jiuyao’s deep attachment to Qingshui. Together, they set out for Qingshui, seeking not only the truth but also to bring closure to Jiuyao’s broken dreams.
