Following their public declaration as a couple, Shi Chuchu approached Su Xieyi, questioning her understanding of Li Zeliang and the sincerity of her intentions. She noted that Su Xieyi's pursuit of Li Zeliang seemed overly purposeful and urged her, as a fellow woman, to love all of him and avoid causing him further pain. Meanwhile, Chen Hengsheng met with Mr. Qin, the owner of the Pinxuan Art Gallery, to finalize a deal.
Mr. Qin agreed to the terms—transferring 80% of the sale price to Chen's account—but voiced concern over the artworks' inflated prices. Chen Hengsheng claimed he was only following orders. Suspicious about their financial stability, Mr. Qin insisted on meeting Chen Hengsheng's boss in person before proceeding, a request Chen Hengsheng agreed to relay. Shortly after Chen Hengsheng left, Su Xieyi arrived at the gallery, tailed by Huo Jian's subordinate, Lin Tai.
When told that Mr. Qin only met with "Gold Members" who made a single purchase of one million yuan, Su Xieyi selected several paintings totaling over ten million yuan and stated that Li Zeliang of Ocean Hotel would pay. Overhearing this, Mr. Qin appeared and personally invited her to his office. Lin Tai immediately reported this to Huo Jian, who, believing it was no coincidence, decided to go to the gallery himself.
In Mr. Qin's office, Su Xieyi initially let him believe she was Chen Hengsheng's boss. She then clarified she was Li Zeliang's fiancée, asserting her financial backing. Just as Mr. Qin was about to discuss the deal's terms, he received a call from Chen Hengsheng announcing the "big boss" was on his way. Realizing Su Xieyi was not the one in charge, Mr. Qin politely ended their meeting, promising to keep her visit confidential.
As Su Xieyi was leaving, she ran into Huo Jian, who questioned her private meeting with Mr. Qin at the members-only gallery. Li Zeliang arrived at that moment, smoothly explaining they were there to buy a painting Su Xieyi had seen online. Skeptical, Huo Jian challenged Li Zeliang to guess which of the seven paintings she wanted, offering it as a gift if he was correct.
Put on the spot, Li Zeliang relied on his knowledge of her preferences and correctly chose the fifth painting, a landscape with a tree. A disappointed Huo Jian had to honor his word. Outside, Su Xieyi lamented that she had been close to getting information from Mr. Qin. Li Zeliang reprimanded her for acting alone, explaining Huo Jian's appearance was a test to see if she was the one who had eavesdropped on their conversation.
He hoped their performance had temporarily thrown him off. Huo Jian then pressed Mr. Qin about Su Xieyi's visit, but Mr. Qin stuck to the story that she was simply a customer. After Huo Jian left in frustration, Mr. Qin called Li Zeliang. They discussed their six-month-long operation to expose Huo Jian's scheme of embezzling company funds through inflated art purchases.
Li Zeliang noted that while risky, Su Xieyi's involvement might ultimately help their plan, as a cornered Huo Jian would be forced to contact Mr. Qin again. Overhearing their call, Su Xieyi finally understood Li Zeliang's true plan to gather evidence against Huo Jian. Later, Yi Fei informed Huo Jian that she had seen a recording pen in Su Xieyi's bag and suspected she was the eavesdropper at the cocktail party.
Huo Jian ordered her to find and destroy any recordings. That night, after Li Zeliang dropped Su Xieyi off, Lin Tai, who had broken into her apartment, was searching her laptop for audio files. Sensing an intruder, Su Xieyi tried to flee but was confronted by Lin Tai. She fought back, hitting him with a flowerpot and calling Li Zeliang for help. Lin Tai began choking her just as Li Zeliang burst in, subduing him.
Lin Tai retaliated with a stick, severely injuring Li Zeliang before being overpowered and forced to flee. Li Zeliang took Su Xieyi to the hospital before checking into an adjacent room for his own serious injuries. Upon waking, Su Xieyi learned how badly he was hurt and insisted on staying to care for him. Li Zeliang downplayed his actions, saying he would have helped anyone, especially his nominal girlfriend.
Meanwhile, a desperate Lin Tai met with Huo Jian for his payment, explaining his father needed money for medical treatment. Huo Jian mocked him, making him play a game of darts for a percentage of the pay. When Lin Tai failed to score, he received nothing. Enraged, Lin Tai threatened to expose everything: the art-reselling scheme with Chen Hengsheng and that Yi Fei’s search for someone named "Spider" might be connected to the death of Li Zeliang’s father.
