He stressed that the entire situation was highly suspicious, noting that the PR department could not reach He Jiang Hua, who was supposedly on vacation, suggesting he was deliberately avoiding them. Although Su Xieyi worried about the rumors and offered to stop working, Li Zeliang refused, explaining that it would only make people more suspicious.
He urged her to prove her worth through her work and deliver results. Meanwhile, Shi Chuchu confronted Xie Minghao, convinced that Su Xieyi was responsible for the recent issues. She reminded him of his drunken confession at the bar, believing it revealed Su Xieyi's true intention to bring down Ocean Hotel.
Shi Chuchu pointed out that only Su Xieyi had access to the Lantian Bay project files in Li Zeliang's home and that her secret contact with He Jiang Hua was undeniable proof. Xie Minghao apologized on Su Xieyi's behalf, explaining her immense pain after her father's death, Zhiwei's bankruptcy, and her sister's mental breakdown. Concluding that Su Xieyi was merely exploiting Li Zeliang's feelings, Shi Chuchu was urged by Xie Minghao to cooperate. Back at home, Su Xieyi proudly showed Li Zeliang the insulation boards she had procured, impressing him with her efficiency. Li Zeliang then revealed he had bought art supplies for Shen Xieqing, feeling guilty for having startled her during their last visit. Su Xieyi shared that Xie Minghao had transferred her sister to a different sanatorium due to her unstable mental state and advised they visit another time. Li Zeliang grew suspicious.
The next day, he visited Xie Minghao, offering to introduce a visiting psychiatric specialist. Xie Minghao refused, claiming Shen Xieqing was doing much better and only needed his companionship, not more doctors. When Li Zeliang pressed for the sanatorium's location, Xie Minghao vaguely stated he would inform Su Xieyi when the time was right. Suspecting a lie, Li Zeliang instructed Ji Yingsong to discreetly follow Xie Minghao. Shi Chuchu wrestled with her emotions, recalling Xie Minghao's assurances that she was the right person for Li Zeliang. After receiving a call from Oscar about their band practice, she was immediately called by Xie Minghao for a meeting. He alleged that Su Xieyi had discussed an underhanded deal with the supplier, implying the materials might be faulty. Meanwhile, Oscar waited alone for her at the bar until it closed. Ji Yingsong tracked Xie Minghao to Shen Xieqing’s residence. Shen Xieqing woke up and, unable to find Xie Minghao, went to his study. She discovered a cabinet filled with dolls and went to open it. Xie Minghao entered, angrily yelling at her to stop and pushing her aside. He bitterly blamed her for pestering him, claiming it ruined his chance with Su Xieyi.
A scared Shen Xieqing clutched a doll, calling it hers, but Xie Minghao snatched it away, forcefully stating it was not hers, but a gift for Su Xieyi. Shen Xieqing cried out that he had stolen the doll, just as he had stolen her entire life. The confrontation triggered a flashback for Shen Xieqing to a happier time with dolls. The next morning, Xie Minghao found a calmer Shen Xieqing and began to manipulate her.
He dismissed his previous outburst, then asked if she remembered any account numbers or passwords. He reminded her that he had protected her secrets after her "grave mistake" two years ago, warning her not to speak out, as no one would believe a "mad" person except him. He cruelly suggested that her father died protecting her, implying that Su Xieyi would never forgive her if she knew the truth.
He then declared that while he once loved Su Xieyi, he now realized Shen Xieqing was the one he loved most, cementing their codependent bond as orphans who only had each other and asking her to protect him as he protected her.
