Ling Xiao brought his mother, Chen Ting, and his sister, Qin Meiyang, back to his residence. Chen Ting insisted on settling in China despite Ling Xiao's attempts to dissuade her, leading him to scold her. Qin Meiyang, in turn, accused her mother of trying to evoke sympathy, which Ling Xiao scolded her for. Qin Meiyang, however, believed she was voicing Ling Xiao's own unspoken thoughts. At this tense moment, Li Jianjian arrived, carrying a box of local specialties.
She had heard Chen Ting was returning to Singapore and, unaware of her change of heart, had bought them, though the delivery initially went to her woodcarving studio. When Li Jianjian tried to leave after giving the specialties to Ling Xiao, he pulled her to him, intentionally kissing her in front of Chen Ting to signal his profound love for Li Jianjian.
Witnessing the kiss, Chen Ting grew angry and decided to return to her hotel, leaving alone after stating her decision to settle in China and her intention not to bother Ling Xiao if he didn't want to see her. Qin Meiyang was also infuriated and abandoned her mother, disappearing without a trace. Ling Xiao was deeply distressed and sought comfort from Li Jianjian. Qin Meiyang wandered the streets alone.
As night fell, she found herself in the residential area, sitting on a concrete platform. Unable to check into a hotel because her identification was with Chen Ting, she encountered a drunk man who harassed her. Fortunately, He Ziqiu, on his way home from work, arrived and helped her out of the situation, bringing her back to Li Jianjian's house.
Li Jianjian reluctantly took Qin Meiyang in, giving up her own room for Qin Meiyang to sleep in, while planning to share a room with Qi Mingyue for the night. Ling Xiao, upon Qin Meiyang's return, playfully suggested he and Li Jianjian sleep together, a remark Li Jianjian quickly dismissed as a joke. The next morning, Qin Meiyang declared she would stay at Li Jianjian's house until the weekend, then return directly to Singapore.
However, Ling Xiao revealed he had cancelled her plane ticket, unwilling to let her travel alone. When Qin Meiyang started to protest, Li Jianjian offered to take her to the woodcarving studio. Qin Meiyang declined, instead expressing a desire to go to the cafe with He Ziqiu. Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian, seeing this, instructed He Ziqiu to look after her. Meanwhile, Ling Heping met with Chen Ting, having learned of her decision to settle in China.
He informed her of Ling Xiao's anxiety and insomnia, crediting Li Jianjian with his improved condition and better sleep. Ling Heping noticed Chen Ting seemed startled and asked if she was unaware of Ling Xiao's psychological illness. Chen Ting quickly claimed she knew. Ling Heping continued, asserting that for Ling Xiao's well-being, Chen Ting needed to learn to like Li Jianjian.
Chen Ting, denying any dislike, merely stated she wasn't familiar with Li Jianjian and didn't know what to say to her. Despite Ling Heping's ongoing conversation, Chen Ting remained preoccupied with the news of Ling Xiao's illness, unable to fully absorb his words. After their meeting, Ling Heping had lunch with Ling Xiao, advising him not to overly concern himself with Chen Ting's return, as she would be cared for by relatives, making things easier for Ling Xiao.
Separately, He Mei surprised He Ziqiu by visiting him at his shop. Their relationship had significantly improved since He Ziqiu learned more about her past, and he was happy to sit and chat. They discussed Dongdong, with He Mei clarifying that Dongdong's issues were psychological, stemming from witnessing his father abuse his mother, not an intellectual problem as He Ziqiu had mistakenly thought.
She also mentioned that Dongdong's mother would be released from prison in a few months and would be able to take him. He Ziqiu also told He Mei that he had seen a video of her eating noodles at Li Haichao's shop, remarking that many people believed Li Haichao still harbored feelings for her, which embarrassed He Mei.
Before leaving, He Mei gave He Ziqiu a new makeup mirror containing a childhood photo of them together, bringing a smile to his face. That evening, Li Jianjian returned to the noodle shop for dinner. She playfully guessed Li Haichao was messaging He Mei and teased him, saying she would wholeheartedly support him if he found a partner, but advised him not to just seek beauty but someone diligent and thrifty.
Li Haichao grew annoyed, scolding Li Jianjian for meddling and pointing out he never interfered with her relationships before leaving. Soon after, Ling Heping arrived. He discreetly sent Li Haichao away to speak privately with Li Jianjian. Ling Heping had noticed Chen Ting and Qin Meiyang's negative attitude towards Li Jianjian at Ling Xiao's birthday and wanted to console her, promising to defend her if Chen Ting ever bullied her. Li Jianjian was touched by his concern.
After dinner, Li Jianjian took the bus home. Ling Xiao waited for her at the bus stop, and they walked home hand-in-hand, chatting, which always improved Ling Xiao's mood. As soon as they arrived, Tang Can complained to Li Jianjian that Qin Meiyang had snatched her remote control. Ling Xiao called Qin Meiyang over.
He and He Ziqiu discussed the situation and agreed that Qin Meiyang could continue to accompany He Ziqiu to the cafe the next day, provided she followed his instructions. Earlier in the day, Qin Meiyang had visited He Ziqiu's shop and rudely ordered a second mango juice after finishing her first. He Ziqiu decided to teach her some manners, instructing his staff not to serve her unless she became polite and respectful.
Frustrated, Qin Meiyang started to leave, but He Ziqiu pretended to call Ling Xiao to pick her up. Unwilling to inconvenience Ling Xiao, Qin Meiyang compromised, softened her tone, and politely asked He Ziqiu for another mango juice. After work, He Ziqiu brought Qin Meiyang home. He and Ling Xiao had agreed that she could continue to go to the dessert shop with him, but with a strict rule: she was not allowed to eat durian there. Qin Meiyang argued she had only eaten a small amount, but He Ziqiu reminded her that even that small amount had driven away three tables of customers.
