If they got married, they could all be listed under the same household registration. Ling Xiao asked Chen Ting to return his documents, but she questioned if he didn’t want her and Qin Meiyang anymore. Ling Xiao said he just wanted to live back home. His flight was scheduled for that day. Meanwhile, Li Jianjian went home early to wait for him, and Qi Mingyue prepared a full table of dishes.
But Ling Xiao’s phone couldn’t be reached, and he didn’t come back even by night. Feeling hurt, Li Jianjian silently returned to her room. He Ziqiu went in to comfort her, but Li Jianjian didn’t want to talk. She told him to go to bed early since they needed to offer incense to Li Mama at 8 a. m. the next morning.
The next morning, Li Jianjian and He Ziqiu returned to the Li home to pay their respects to Li Mama. Li Haichao had also invited some relatives and neighbors to the noodle shop. Li Jianjian and He Ziqiu were troubled, as those relatives were gossipy and constantly made snide remarks about their family. They forced themselves to smile and deal with the chatter.
Li Jianjian’s second aunt and second uncle’s wife even kept trying to set up blind dates for He Ziqiu. After finally getting through the day, that evening, Li Jianjian and He Ziqiu burned paper money by the river for Li Mama. They also drank together. Li Jianjian drank too much and couldn’t walk, so He Ziqiu carried her home. Lying on his back, she drunkenly mumbled for him not to leave. He Ziqiu promised her he never would.
If Ling Xiao didn’t come back, he would always stay by her side. After returning home, Ling Heping saw Li Haichao drinking alone and joined him. As they drank and chatted, they talked about Ling Xiao. Earlier that afternoon, Ling Xiao had called Ling Heping and explained that he missed his flight and had delays with a transfer. He also asked Ling Heping to tell Li Jianjian that he would be back that night.
As soon as Ling Heping mentioned Chen Ting, he got angry again, but just then Ling Xiao returned. The first thing he did was offer incense to Li Mama. Afterward, Ling Heping remembered he hadn’t told Li Jianjian that Ling Xiao was back. Worried, Ling Xiao said goodbye and immediately went to Li Jianjian’s house. Ling Xiao returned to Li Jianjian’s house and saw her asleep. He sat by her bed watching her.
Overwhelmed by emotion, he couldn’t help but kiss her. Just then, Qi Mingyue happened to see it. Li Jianjian suddenly woke up from her sleep. Seeing Ling Xiao in front of her and recalling the kiss, she opened her eyes wide. Ling Xiao wanted to say something, but Li Jianjian turned her head to avoid him. Seeing this, Ling Xiao had no choice but to leave her room. The next morning, when Li Jianjian woke up and recalled what happened last night, she still felt like it had been a dream.
