Ling Xiao returns home and tells Li Haichao that he will not leave again, having found a job that starts tomorrow. Li Haichao is overjoyed and calls Li Jianjian to come home, but she is at the police station. At an exhibition, Li Jianjian was accidentally knocked over. He Ziqiu appeared and caught her, inadvertently grabbing her chest instead of her stomach. Li Jianjian, thinking she was being sexually harassed, called the police.
At the police station, He Ziqiu hides his face, avoiding eye contact with Li Jianjian. When Li Jianjian recognizes his voice and turns him around, she realizes it's He Ziqiu. After clearing up the misunderstanding, Li Jianjian asks why He Ziqiu didn't tell them he was coming back. He Ziqiu wanted to surprise them. Ling Xiao arrives at the police station and sees He Ziqiu and Li Jianjian together. The three reunite, but the atmosphere is awkward.
Li Jianjian makes an excuse to leave. Ling Xiao and He Ziqiu talk. Ling Xiao has a job at a stomatological hospital, and He Ziqiu plans to start a business. Ling Xiao invites He Ziqiu to come home with him, but He Ziqiu wants to surprise Li Haichao and asks Ling Xiao not to tell him. Ling Xiao agrees. That night, Li Haichao and Ling Heping have hot pot to welcome Ling Xiao home.
He Ziqiu watches them from outside the noodle shop. Tang Can returns home and encounters Zhuang Bei, who is helping He Ziqiu rent a place, at the elevator. Zhuang Bei is tying his shoelaces when Tang Can steps on his pen and sprains her ankle. Zhuang Bei catches her, and they fall to the ground in an embrace. They recognize each other, but before they can say anything, the elevator opens, revealing two children. Zhuang Bei, embarrassed, quickly leaves.
Tang Can picks up the pen and tells Qi Mingyue about the encounter, hoping to see Zhuang Bei again. Li Jianjian arrives, and they ask her about the sexual harassment incident. She says it was a misunderstanding. Li Jianjian goes to her room and remembers their childhood. Ling Xiao tells Li Haichao that he has rented an apartment across from Li Jianjian. Li Haichao is relieved but notes that Li Jianjian seems distant.
Li Haichao comforts him, reminding him that she was a child when they left. Ling Xiao suggests Li Haichao and Ling Heping remarry, but Li Haichao is used to being alone. Li Haichao asks if Ling Xiao has a girlfriend, but Ling Xiao says he didn't have time while studying. The next morning, Ling Heping returns from the police station. Li Haichao leaves to give them time alone.
Ling Heping is disappointed that Ling Xiao is moving out and asks when he starts work. Ling Xiao says he starts today. Meanwhile, Qi Mingyue takes Li Jianjian to the dentist. The dentist is Ling Xiao. Li Jianjian is nervous and doesn't recognize his voice. Ling Xiao comforts her, knowing she is afraid of dentists. After the appointment, Ling Xiao gives her an ice pack and holds her hand.
Li Jianjian remembers when Ling Xiao accompanied her to the dentist as a child. She is uncomfortable with the closeness and pulls her hand away, complimenting his doctor's overall. Ling Xiao compliments her back, saying she is the most beautiful. Ling Xiao eats noodles made by Li Haichao. Li Haichao is happy that his cooking still pleases Ling Xiao.
