After Ling Xiao returned home, he told Li Haichao that he wouldn’t be leaving again this time. He had already found a job and would start working the next day. Li Haichao was overjoyed and called Li Jianjian, telling her to hurry home. But Li Jianjian said she was at the police station. She had been accidentally knocked over at the exhibition and was about to fall when He Ziqiu suddenly appeared and quickly caught her.
However, he accidentally grabbed her chest, mistaking it for her stomach. With her back to He Ziqiu, Li Jianjian thought she had been sexually harassed and immediately called the police. At the police station, He Ziqiu kept covering his face and refused to look at Li Jianjian. Hearing his familiar voice, Li Jianjian turned him around and realized it was He Ziqiu. After clearing up the misunderstanding, Li Jianjian asked why he hadn’t said anything about coming back.
He Ziqiu said he wanted to surprise them. While they were talking, Ling Xiao arrived at the police station and saw both He Ziqiu and Li Jianjian at the entrance. The three of them reunited, but the atmosphere was awkward. Li Jianjian couldn’t handle it and quickly made an excuse to leave. Ling Xiao chatted a bit more with He Ziqiu, telling him about his plans—he had taken a job at a dental clinic.
He Ziqiu said he planned to start his own business. Ling Xiao asked if He Ziqiu wanted to go home with him, but He Ziqiu asked him not to tell Li Haichao about his return yet, wanting to surprise him. Ling Xiao agreed. That evening, Li Haichao and Ling Heping made hot pot at the restaurant to welcome Ling Xiao. Meanwhile, He Ziqiu watched them from outside the noodle shop.
When Tang Can returned home, she ran into Zhuang Bei, who was helping He Ziqiu rent an apartment. Zhuang Bei was crouching at the elevator tying his shoelaces. Tang Can accidentally stepped on a pen he had dropped and twisted her ankle. Seeing she was about to fall, Zhuang Bei instinctively reached out to catch her. The two fell together, landing in each other’s arms.
As they looked at each other, both felt the other seemed familiar, but before they could figure it out, the elevator door opened and two kids coming home from school saw them. Embarrassed, Zhuang Bei let go and ran away. Tang Can picked up the pen and excitedly told Qi Mingyue what had just happened. She believed she would definitely meet Zhuang Bei again. Soon, Li Jianjian came home as well.
The two asked her how she was after the harassment incident. Li Jianjian simply said it was a misunderstanding. After chatting briefly, she went to her room and started reminiscing about their childhood and how close the three of them used to be. That night, Ling Xiao told Li Haichao that he had rented an apartment across from Li Jianjian’s place. Li Haichao felt relieved and asked if he had told her yet.
Ling Xiao said she seemed a bit distant, so he hadn’t told her. Li Haichao reassured him that it was understandable—she had grown up since they left, and it was normal for her to feel a bit unfamiliar. They chatted for a while, and Ling Xiao encouraged Li Haichao and Ling Heping to remarry, but Li Haichao said he was used to being alone.
When asked about relationships, Ling Xiao said he didn’t even have time to study, let alone date. The next morning, Ling Heping returned from the station. Li Haichao purposely left early for the noodle shop to give them time alone. Learning that Ling Xiao was moving out made Ling Heping feel a bit down. He asked when Ling Xiao would start working, and Ling Xiao said it would be today.
Meanwhile, Qi Mingyue took Li Jianjian to the dentist, and the dentist turned out to be Ling Xiao. Li Jianjian was too nervous to recognize his voice. Knowing that she had been scared of dentists since childhood, Ling Xiao spoke gently to calm her. After the appointment, as she was about to leave, he lowered his mask and called her name. Only then did she realize her dentist was Ling Xiao.
He handed her an ice pack for the pain and held her hand to comfort her. Remembering how he used to accompany her to the dentist when they were little, Li Jianjian felt awkward being so close to him again. She quietly withdrew her hand and politely complimented his white coat. Ling Xiao, however, sincerely told her she was becoming more and more beautiful and that, in his heart, she was the most beautiful of all.
