Orchid chased after Dongfang Qingcang to persuade him, but to her surprise, he accused her of being too casual. Just as they were arguing, Xie Wanqing arrived—coming to propose to Dongfang Qingcang. He refused, of course, but was forced to comply due to the Heart-Linking Curse. As soon as she entered, Xie Wanqing stated her intentions. Dongfang Qingcang stood silently on the side, while Orchid dealt with the conversation.

Seeing the awkward atmosphere, Xie Wanqing invited him to continue the discussion another day at the pavilion. On the way back, Orchid lowered her head, looking disheartened. Xie Wanqing noticed and asked what was wrong. Orchid asked for her advice—what should one do if they loved someone from an enemy clan? Orchid wanted to stop him again, but the words wouldn’t come out. Qu Shui was about to deliver the wedding dress to Orchid but overheard a conversation between Shang Que and Jie Li. Misunderstanding that they were planning to kill Xiao Run, he dropped the dress and rushed off to warn him—only to die under a carriage. Thus, Dan Yin’s primordial spirit returned to Shuiyuntian.

Upon learning this, Lord Yunzhong was furious and ordered Dan Yin to kill Xie Wanqing, so the Moon Tribe’s 100,000 troops would remain sealed. But doing so could cause Lord Changheng to fail his tribulation and perish. Dan Yin refused repeatedly, but her father used magic to prevent her from speaking and accepted the command for her.
