Run Yu discussed his upcoming wedding with Jin Mi, proposing they invite the Floral Realm chiefs as witnesses to express gratitude for their care. He then asked Jin Mi to select a beautiful paper for the wedding invitations. Jin Mi, who struggles to distinguish colors, remarked that all papers appeared the same to her. Despite Run Yu suggesting a festive red, she randomly chose a green one, unsure if it was the right choice.

Run Yu gently reassured her that whatever she liked was the best. Meanwhile, King of Bian City expressed deep concern to Xu Feng about Liu Ying, who had been cloistered in her room for three days, refusing food and water, devastated by Mu Ci's death. Xu Feng went to check on her. Liu Ying emerged, apologizing for causing worry and revealing that she was pregnant with Mu Ci's child, vowing to protect herself to continue their love.

Turning to Xu Feng, Liu Ying declared that King of Gu City, in collusion with Run Yu, had forced Mu Ci to create the Spirit-Vanishing Arrow to be used against Xu Feng. She asserted that a war between the Demon Realm and Heaven Realm was unavoidable and asked Xu Feng to promise to help her avenge Mu Ci, to which he agreed. Xu Feng suddenly experienced a severe backlash from the golden elixir, his hands rapidly icing over.

Just then, Sui He arrived, noticing his attempts to hide his hands. As she reached for them, Xu Feng instinctively pushed her away, but in doing so, he saw an old scar on her ear, indicative of a Water Ripple Palm injury. When he questioned her, Sui He claimed Jin Mi had inflicted it during an encounter in the Cave of Jiu Ying, and tearfully demanded Xu Feng seek revenge for her.

Xu Feng agreed to avenge her but, now suspicious, urged her to leave. He later investigated the Cave of Jiu Ying himself and discovered faint traces of Glazed Pure Fire on its walls. Xu Feng confided in Liu Ying, explaining that the Moon Immortal's earlier warnings had already planted seeds of doubt about Sui He.

He described Sui He's ear scar, noting it wasn't a fresh wound, and discussed the Glazed Pure Fire traces in the Cave of Jiu Ying, which contradicted Sui He's supposed delicate nature and diminished spiritual power. While Xu Feng sought to uncover Luo Lin’s true killer, he was reluctant to wrongly accuse Sui He. Liu Ying then whispered a plan to test Sui He's sincerity.

Xu Feng initially hesitated, feeling it would be unfair to Mu Ci, but Liu Ying reassured him that Mu Ci was her only love and that his actions would not be disloyal to anyone, prompting Xu Feng's agreement. Separately, Yan You tried to visit Jin Mi at Xuanji Palace but was stopped by guards. Jin Mi appeared and allowed him entry.

Yan You critiqued Run Yu’s possessiveness and questioned Jin Mi’s decision to become the Heavenly Empress, suggesting her "mediocre" temperament was unsuited for the role, especially compared to cunning figures like Sui He. Jin Mi acknowledged her past foolishness in misdirecting her vengeance. Yan You then proposed she run away, but Jin Mi, feeling obligated to Run Yu, refused, and remained silent when asked if she loved him.

Run Yu, observing Jin Mi’s choice of green paper for the invitations, wondered if it was a subtle protest. His attendant, Kuang Lu, confirmed Jin Mi's inability to distinguish colors, mentioning she had seen Jin Mi plant gray phoenix flowers. Later, Jin Mi suggested Run Yu consider Kuang Lu as a concubine, remarking on Kuang Lu's loyalty. Run Yu, however, expressed more apprehension about Jin Mi’s occasional kindness than her indifference.

Later that night, Jin Mi awoke to her Beast of Dreams producing a dream pearl, showing a vivid, loving embrace with Xu Feng, making her painfully realize her enduring feelings for him. At the same time, Sui He, having discovered Xu Feng’s severe backlash from the elixir, suspected Run Yu's interference and quickly made her way to his palace. Jin Mi observed Sui He leave and discreetly followed her.

Sui He confronted Run Yu, demanding to know if he had tampered with the Jiuzhuan Golden Elixir. Run Yu coolly admitted to Sui He that he had merely removed a "heating" herb from the elixir. Sui He, enraged, accused him of knowing Xu Feng's fire constitution and deliberately causing him torment, all while exploiting Jin Mi.

Run Yu countered by questioning if Sui He had revealed to Xu Feng that she was Luo Lin's killer and that Jin Mi was his true savior. Sui He warned that Jin Mi would be devastated to learn Run Yu had known all along who murdered Luo Lin but intentionally misled her to believe it was Xu Feng.

Run Yu then revealed he knew Sui He was the murderer, citing the Water Ripple Palm scar on her ear and the former Heavenly Empress's sudden loss of power as proof. He threatened to provide evidence to Xu Feng if Sui He did not quietly marry him, cautioning that she would be safe only under Xu Feng's protection, otherwise he would personally avenge Luo Lin. Sui He accused him of using her to sabotage Xu Feng and Jin Mi’s relationship.

Run Yu, implying their mutual manipulation, dismissed her, then called for the room to be cleansed. Jin Mi, who had overheard their entire conversation, stepped out, tearfully asking Run Yu what else he wanted her to do, perhaps even kill someone for him. Run Yu, visibly shaken, pleaded with her to stop. Jin Mi angrily declared herself completely used and worthless, begging Run Yu to release her.

Run Yu gripped her arm, professing his deep love and explaining all his actions were for her, expressing fear of her leaving. Jin Mi violently pulled away, fiercely denying his love. She accused him of loving only himself and manipulating her, her father, and the entire world to believe his false affection.

She recounted his calculated moves: approaching her for information on Xu Feng, leveraging her identity as the Water Immortal's daughter for political gain, feigning ignorance of her father's presence, coercing her into declarations of love to secure her father's support, and allowing Xu Feng to visit her only to delay him. She also accused him of using the Beast of Dreams to spy on her and of knowing Luo Lin's true killer from the start.

Jin Mi declared Run Yu a gambler who had orchestrated Xu Feng's intrusion at their wedding and her subsequent killing of Xu Feng. She scorned his ability to appear benevolent while orchestrating such cruelty, forcing her to kill the man she loved most. She lamented that Xu Feng now hated her and was marrying her father's killer, while Run Yu had achieved all his ambitions.

Run Yu, overwhelmed, recounted his pain from seeing her dreams of Xu Feng and his willingness to sacrifice his Heavenly Emperor title for her. Jin Mi cut him off, stating he was unworthy of love and that she would never believe him again. As Run Yu desperately tried to hold onto her, Jin Mi blamed herself for her utter foolishness. She then cast a dragon scale at him, a symbol of their broken past, and walked away.

Jin Mi confronted Supreme Lord Lao, threatening to destroy his precious pills unless he revealed the truth about the Jiuzhuan Golden Elixir. After some hesitation and Jin Mi's repeated threats, Supreme Lord Lao confessed that the elixir had not lacked an ingredient but instead contained an extra one: cynanchum atratum. This highly cold substance, he explained, clashed with Xu Feng's fiery constitution, causing the severe backlash. Jin Mi was shocked by his involvement.

Supreme Lord Lao, ashamed, admitted it was Run Yu's command, and he had complied, fearing for his reputation if the truth came out. Jin Mi pressed him for a remedy, and he revealed that Hairy Feather could counteract the coldness of cynanchum atratum. However, he warned that this rare herb, which takes ten thousand years to grow in the Floral Realm, was extremely delicate and would perish within three days if removed from its native environment.

As Jin Mi attempted to leave, Run Yu confronted her once more, grabbing her arm. He refused to let her go, asserting that their wedding would proceed as planned and accusing her of being insane.
