Jin Mi and Qiang Huo joyfully celebrated their birthday, which was the day their Auntie had brought them back to the Saint Doctors’ Family. They vowed to drink until they were thoroughly drunk, as was their tradition. Jin Mi presented Qiang Huo with a succulent plant, explaining that she felt it resembled Qiang Huo, being particularly cute. Qiang Huo, who was unable to marry, tearfully declared that she could only love Jin Mi.
As Jin Mi succumbed to the alcohol, she drifted into a familiar dream, where she once again encountered Frost Blossom. Frost Blossom pleaded with Jin Mi to release her, so she could tell a specific person that she loved him. Frost Blossom then eloquently described the essence of love: an unyielding desire to be with that person, sharing their joys and sorrows, and breaking any shackles to reach them.
As Jin Mi listened, she realized that her own profound feelings for King Yi, Xu Feng, mirrored this description, confirming to herself that she indeed loved him. Qiang Huo eventually roused Jin Mi, who, still tipsy, assumed King Yi would not summon her so late and tried to continue their drinking. However, Qin Tong arrived at their door, announcing that King Yi had sent for Jin Mi.
Qin Tong led her to a room where Xu Feng was dramatically reenacting their first meeting in the mountains. He portrayed himself as "King Yi of Huaiwu" and Jin Mi as the "Saint Girl of Saint Doctors’ Family," humorously recalling how he "hunted 200 hidden soldiers of Liangguo" while she "gathered herbs" and "captured one King of Huaiwu."
Jin Mi, finding the performance delightful, playfully corrected his lines, reminding him that he was deaf and mute during their actual first encounter. They continued the banter, with Xu Feng joking about her covering her face because she was "ugly" while he was "blind," and Jin Mi calling him a "furious crow," then settling on "Crow." She declared them a "match made in heaven."
After exchanging more playful remarks, Xu Feng asked for a gift in return for the small tortoise he'd given her. When she inquired what he wanted, he replied that he only ever wanted one thing. He then said he had already pretended to be deaf and dumb before her, so pretending to be blind again was no issue, prompting Jin Mi to remove her veil. She asked if he was scared by her appearance.
Xu Feng then asked if she feared death. Jin Mi confessed that she was afraid to die, but she liked him even more than her own life. Xu Feng, wanting to confirm her words, asked her to repeat it, wondering if she was drunk or if he was dreaming. Jin Mi, adamantly denying her intoxication, declared repeatedly and clearly that she liked him, wanting him to remember her words. Xu Feng, in turn, proposed, "Marry me."
They kissed passionately, but their intimate moment was cut short by an urgent report from the front line, forcing Jin Mi to depart. Meanwhile, Run Yu and Kuang Lu were at Dongting Lake. Kuang Lu pondered if Lord Dongting, Su Li, still held a grudge against Run Yu for his departure.
Run Yu, though unable to recall the specifics of his past, believed his sudden departure with the Heavenly Empress must have deeply wounded his mother, but he hoped she would understand that all mothers desire their children's happiness. Yan You informed Run Yu that Su Li refused to see him due to her stubborn nature.
Run Yu knelt outside her dwelling, expressing profound remorse for his harsh words and his past abandonment of her, which he now understood to be his own choice, not hers. He lamented the suffering she endured in his absence, but found comfort in knowing she was now healthy and surrounded by "two excellent adopted sons," referring to Yan You and Li, who served her dutifully.
He declared that he did not seek her forgiveness that day, but hoped for a long future where they could eventually reunite and enjoy their family bond. Inside, Su Li, heartbroken, overheard his words but dared not emerge. After Run Yu left, Su Li stepped outside, weeping. She revealed that she had long disregarded her own life and death, her sole purpose being to avenge her family and kill her enemies.
Since Run Yu had the opportunity to soar high in the heavens, she could not bear to drag him down into her own personal hell of vengeance, wishing for him a life of peace and happiness. Run Yu later confided in Yan You, noting the unexpected joy of gaining "two brothers" that day. He expressed his belief that "faith can move mountains" and asked Yan You to continue caring for their mother.
Yan You assured him that Su Li was not truly stubborn, but some things remained unspoken, advising Run Yu to be patient. Later, Jin Mi spotted Run Yu at her residence and, having no recollection of him erasing her memory, apologized for missing their prior engagement to view the epiphyllum flowers. They shared tea, and Jin Mi commented on finding an epiphyllum after waking up, which Run Yu confirmed he had planted.
She mentioned her patient (Xu Feng) had recovered, so the flower was no longer needed for medicine. Run Yu then spoke of a kind-hearted fairy, currently undergoing mortal trials, whom he constantly bore in mind, comparing her kindness to Jin Mi's. He fondly recalled Jin Mi's appreciative reaction upon seeing his dragon tail, noting she was the first in thousands of years not to be repulsed by his "ugly" true form and treated him with equality.
He expressed gratitude for her guidance during his moments of despair. Jin Mi playfully dismissed his self-deprecating remarks, drawing a parallel to her own self-proclaimed "ugliness" to Xu Feng. Run Yu then sought Jin Mi’s medical expertise for an elder with a severe burn. He explained that this elder, closely related to him, had her face burned by a roaring flame thousands of years ago and was 19,800 years old.
Due to various circumstances, he couldn't consult official heavenly healers and sought Jin Mi's help as a last resort. Despite the patient's advanced age and divine status, Jin Mi, touched by Run Yu's concern, agreed to assist. She provided him with Red Jade Regeneration Tissue Cream and Draconis Sanguis Tissue Regeneration Cream, explaining their properties and advising three daily applications. She proudly mused about her unusual patient list, which now included a king and an immortal.
Run Yu thanked her, expressing hope that the ointments would help Su Li and create a positive impression for Jin Mi when he eventually introduced her to his mother. Meanwhile, Qi Yuan, having followed Run Yu to Dongting Lake, reported back to the Heavenly Empress. She sensed a strong surge of spiritual energy, confirming her suspicions, and initially planned to return for heavenly soldiers to eliminate everyone. Just then, Yan You appeared, greeting the Heavenly Empress with sarcasm.
She accused him and the Water Immortal of harboring sinister intentions, to which Yan You retorted that the Heaven Realm disregarded its own laws and that she was disgracing the Heavenly Emperor. Enraged by his audacity, the Heavenly Empress commanded Qi Yuan to kill Yan You. As they fought, Su Li made a dramatic appearance, confirming her presence. The Heavenly Empress immediately recognized her, accusing her of being "guileful."
Su Li, in turn, unleashed the "Sun Destroying Ice Needle" and fiercely accused the Heavenly Emperor, Tai Wei, of ruining her life, and the Heavenly Empress, Tu Yao, of taking her son and massacring her entire family. She vowed to overturn their tyrannical reign and avenge her innocent kin. The Heavenly Empress, identifying the unique magic, realized that Su Li was indeed the true mastermind behind the attempt to murder her son, Xu Feng.
Run Yu, carrying Jin Mi's healing ointments, hurried towards the lake, but was intercepted by Li, who frantically reported that the Heavenly Empress was trying to kill their mother. Although Su Li’s power was no match for the Heavenly Empress, Yan You, attempting to intervene, was held back by Qi Yuan. Just as the Heavenly Empress launched a strike at Su Li, Run Yu arrived and shielded his mother, taking the blow himself.
The Heavenly Empress scornfully reminded Run Yu of his childhood choice to leave Su Li and abandon her. This triggered a painful memory for Run Yu: as a child, finding his life in the lake miserable and believing his presence was a burden to his mother, he had willingly taken a Floating Dream Pill offered by the Heavenly Empress, erasing his memories of Su Li and his past sorrows, in exchange for a life in the Heaven Realm.
He now realized that he had been deceived, and it was he who had abandoned his mother, not the other way around. Run Yu pleaded with the Heavenly Empress, acknowledging that Su Li was his biological mother and begging her to show mercy. He promised to forgo any claim to the Heavenly Emperor's throne, vowing to live a quiet life with his mother if only she would spare her.
He prostrated himself, repeatedly begging for clemency, but the Heavenly Empress remained unmoved. As she prepared to deliver another fatal blow, threatening to kill them both for his defiance, Su Li, with her last surge of power, blocked the attack and retaliated. Gravely wounded and near death, Su Li finally expressed her deepest feelings to Run Yu, finding contentment in seeing him one last time, regretting only meeting the Heavenly Emperor but never regretting giving birth to him.
Run Yu, overwhelmed with grief, confessed he never hated her and now remembered the truth of the Floating Dream Pill. Su Li apologized for her failures and the loneliness she endured, finally succumbing to her injuries in his arms, asking him to hold her for a little longer. Run Yu desperately tried to save her, but Yan You confirmed her death.
Heartbroken and enraged by his mother's death, Run Yu unleashed a formidable torrent of water magic against the Heavenly Empress. The Heavenly Empress, undeterred by his pain, ominously declared, "Run Yu, it’s your turn."
