Lin Changran desperately sought an antidote from Lord Lu for Chong Xuezhi. However, Lord Lu adopted a condescending demeanor, rebuking Lin Changran for only seeking help when troubled and for using their familial connection. He declared that Chong Xuezhi was a dead woman, having lost His Majesty’s weapons, and only Shangguan Xingzhou's abuse of authority had kept her alive. Lord Lu firmly stated that he had no reason, professionally or personally, to save her.

Lin Changran tried to appeal to him, emphasizing that Shangguan Tou, Lord Lu's brother-in-law, loved Chong Xuezhi, and her death would undoubtedly break Shangguan Zheng's heart. But Lord Lu angrily retorted that Shangguan Xingzhou died in prison because of the Hall of Flames, and as Shangguan Zheng's father, avenging him by eliminating Chong Xuezhi was his justified course of action.

Lin Changran argued that Lord Lu knew the truth about the Imperial Advisor's death and implored him to consider his relationship with Shangguan Zheng, begging for the Wuse Skill antidote to save Chong Xuezhi. Lord Lu, however, adamantly stated that he could not provide the cure because he did not possess it. Unknown to them, Shangguan Zheng had her maid listen in on their conversation. After Lin Changran's fruitless appeal, Shangguan Zheng met him.

She acknowledged Chong Xuezhi's life-threatening condition due to the Wuse Skill. Although she was unsure if she could find a cure, she promised to try, instructing Lin Changran to wait for her outside the woods of the west gate. Lin Changran offered his thanks, but Shangguan Zheng insisted she was the one who should be grateful for his care of Shangguan Tou and Chong Xuezhi. Shangguan Tou gently comforted a weakening Chong Xuezhi.

She tearfully recounted his promise to gather flowers for her for a century, lamenting that while his flowers bloomed, she was fading away. She expressed gratitude for their life together and vowed to become the moon in the sky to accompany him in her next life, hoping to reunite and live as a normal couple until old age. Shangguan Tou reassured her, promising them countless more years together and vowing that no one could take her from him.

He promised she would heal once Lin Changran returned and offered to teach her Guqin or Go, fulfilling her wish to learn the instrument when she recovered. Meanwhile, Shangguan Zheng searched Lord Lu's room for the antidote but was discovered. Lord Lu confronted her about sending her maid to spy on him, but she defiantly declared she no longer cared about his anger and demanded the cure for Chong Xuezhi.

Lord Lu reiterated his refusal to save Chong Xuezhi, reminding Shangguan Zheng of his promise not to harm Shangguan Tou and accusing her of interfering with his plans. Shangguan Zheng furiously accused him of indiscriminately killing innocent people and bringing ruin upon himself. Lord Lu declared his ambition was to make the entire martial arts world obey him and become its supreme leader.

Shangguan Zheng retorted that his actions were merely a shield for his fragile ego, born from a childhood illness that prevented him from learning martial arts and gaining imperial favor. She reminded him that he had persecuted the Hall of Flames and caused her father's unjust death. Enraged, Lord Lu dismissed her, stating he was not ruining himself but achieving greatness. He then confined her to the mansion, forbidding her from leaving.

Shangguan Zheng bitterly announced she could no longer be with him and demanded he never touch her again. Lin Changran returned to Moon Valley without the antidote. Shangguan Tou informed him that Chong Xuezhi's condition had been temporarily stabilized using an ice method, but all local ice reserves were depleted, and their own ice was rapidly melting. Chong Xuezhi, aware of her impending death, calmly accepted her fate.

She thanked her loved ones, saying that with them by her side, she feared nothing and simply wished to spend her remaining days in peace. She then gifted Shangguan Tou a bracelet, a memento from her father, asking him to look at it whenever he missed her, so he would feel her presence. Elsewhere, Yuwen Muyuan was in a desperate state.

He attempted to pawn his personal sword at a shop in Qiongzhou, a weapon recognized as belonging to the Hall of Flames. He reconsidered at the last moment, but his appearance did not go unnoticed. Feng Mo, learning of Yuwen Muyuan's whereabouts, expressed his desire to kill him. However, Taishi Cheng intervened, arguing that Yuwen Muyuan, now isolated and vulnerable, would be more valuable alive as a tool for Lord Lu.

Taishi Cheng later reported this to Lord Lu, criticizing Feng Mo as a clumsy and reckless leader with a weak foundation and a disrespectful attitude, deeming him a potential liability. Lord Lu, acknowledging his shortage of loyal subordinates, agreed that recruiting Yuwen Muyuan would be highly beneficial, believing he could be a significant asset in his ambition to control the martial arts world. Chong Xuezhi's health continued to decline rapidly.

Yin Ci, the physician, revealed that her Qi and blood flow were blocked, and even the Furong Heart Sutra could no longer protect her internal energy. A distraught Shangguan Tou, initially intent on confronting Lord Lu, was halted by Yin Ci, who proposed a risky "poison against poison" treatment using a highly potent venom.

Yin Ci explained that Chong Xuezhi's past consumption of the Poison King Pill might enable her body to react by stimulating her stagnant pulses, potentially extending her life. However, he warned that the success rate was only fifty percent, and failure would result in immediate death. Lin Changran questioned if this was any different from outright killing her, but Yin Ci stressed the urgency as Chong Xuezhi's life force was fading by the minute.

He granted Shangguan Tou a brief period to make this crucial decision, while he performed acupuncture to buy more time. Alone, Shangguan Tou reflected on his past promise to protect Xuezhi, agonizing over his perceived failure. Later, Wuming joyfully announced that Chong Xuezhi had survived the treatment, although she had endured significant suffering and vomited a great deal of blood. Shangguan Tou, overwhelmed, asked for solitude.

Shangguan Tou confided in Hongxiu about his inner conflict: his burning desire to avenge his father's unjust death at Lord Lu's hands was complicated by his sister Shangguan Zheng's position as Lord Lu's wife. He declared that Chong Xuezhi's life was his immediate priority, but he would eventually settle his score with Lord Lu.

Shangguan Tou then asked Hongxiu if she knew anything about the Wuse Skill, but she only knew it as a strange foreign art, not its methods or cure. Hongxiu advised Shangguan Tou not to blame himself, drawing parallels to her own profound regret over not marrying Langya sooner. She urged him to cherish the time he had left with Chong Xuezhi and ensure she did not leave with worries or see his guilt.

Shangguan Tou then recalled how he had fallen in love with Chong Xuezhi, experiencing joy at her smile and sorrow at her tears, always wanting to be by her side. Observing a fading hibiscus, Chong Xuezhi reflected on his past promise to give her his "rest of my life" and how she had kept her word.

She expressed a desire for a specific phrase they shared ("If you say yes, I'm yours") to be their bond in the next life, allowing them to recognize each other amidst the vast crowds. She wished to become the wind after death to find him anywhere, and Shangguan Tou pledged to become a cloud, for only wind and clouds could remain eternally together, journeying to the ends of the world.

Chong Xuezhi then made a final request: to visit Winehouse of Fairyland once more while she could still walk, to see Hongxiu and experience the joyous world of music and dance. Shangguan Tou promised to accompany her wherever she wished. Hongxiu later watched Shangguan Tou bring Chong Xuezhi to Winehouse of Fairyland, deeply moved by their difficult love. As night fell, Shangguan Zheng, alone in her room, whispered to her unborn child.

She expressed sorrow for being unable to bring it into the world due to its father, Lord Lu's, heartless nature. She longed to see her baby's adorable face, accepting that they might never meet in this life, but promised to be with the child forever in spirit. Meanwhile, Yuwen Muyuan returned to his courtyard. As he closed the gate, he noticed the bright lights inside his house, signaling someone's presence. After a moment of hesitation, he cautiously entered.
