> Legend of Zang Hai Recap

Today was Zhuang Luyin's birthday celebration. Xiang Antu and Cao Jingxian planned to steal the Gui Seal from the Marquis's residence by working together. Xiang Antu didn’t want to implicate Zang Hai, so she arranged to meet with him that night to reveal all the secrets. Zang Hai intended to use the conflict between Cao Jingxian and Zhuang Luyin to identify his third enemy. He sent Guan Feng to attend the meeting in his place.

Zang Hai came to attend Zhuang Luyin’s birthday banquet. Civil and military officials all arrived to offer their congratulations, but Zhuang Luyin couldn’t feel any joy. Zhuang Zhifu was still being detained by Cao Jingxian, leaving him unsettled. The officials, equally anxious for Zhuang Luyin, offered various strategies. Jiang Xiang took the opportunity to complain to the officials about Cao Jingxian monopolizing power. The officials had also suffered under Cao Jingxian’s oppression.

Zhuang Luyin seized the moment to rally them to jointly impeach Cao Jingxian the next day. Xu Daishan and Qi Ming were the first to sign the memorial, and Zhuang Luyin asked Lord Lü to sign as well. Cao Jingxian broke into the Marquis’s residence with his men, presenting Zhuang Luyin with a Lumo Blade as a gift. Zhuang Luyin had no choice but to invite him to sit.

Cao Jingxian grabbed the memorial from Lord Lü and burned it to ashes on the spot. The officials used excuses to take their leave, but Cao Jingxian forbade anyone from leaving and ordered his men to bring in the badly beaten Zhuang Zhifu. Jiang Xiang was heartbroken upon learning Zhuang Zhifu’s kneecaps had been gouged out.

Under the guise of acting for the emperor, Cao Jingxian presented Zhuang Zhifu’s confession and forced Zhuang Luyin to kneel and admit fault in exchange for Zhuang Zhifu’s life. Enraged, Zhuang Luyin drew his sword to fight Cao Jingxian. Cao Jingxian then stabbed his own arm and staggered outside, accusing Zhuang Luyin of attempting to kill him. Taking advantage of the chaos, Zang Hai slipped away to the underground treasury.

Cao Jingxian falsely accused Zhuang Luyin of secretly raising troops and plotting rebellion, demanding he hand over the Gui Seal. Zhuang Luyin had never seen the Gui Seal and cursed Cao Jingxian furiously. Cao Jingxian ordered a thorough search of the residence. Furious and humiliated, Zhuang Luyin unleashed a bloodbath against the factory guards of the Inspectorate. Meanwhile, Lu Yan arrived at the treasury to assist Xiang Antu in stealing the Gui Seal.

Guan Feng arrived at the agreed meeting place on time, but Xiang Antu didn’t show. Feng Liu came in her place. With Lu Yan’s cover, Xiang Antu entered the treasury’s underground chamber and began searching. Zang Hai suddenly appeared, having poured oil everywhere and set traps. Xiang Antu was masked, so Zang Hai didn’t recognize her. She attempted to flee but was shot in the leg by Zang Hai.

When Zang Hai removed her mask, he was shocked to discover that the hostage from Dongxia was Xiang Antu. Zang Hai became convinced that Xiang Antu was the third enemy he had been seeking. Xiang Antu only wanted to reclaim the Gui Seal that belonged to Dongxia. Zang Hai admitted he was Zhinu, the son of Kuai Duo, and had spent ten years seeking revenge for the massacre of his family.

He swore to kill Xiang Antu to avenge his parents and sister. Zang Hai knelt before the human-skin relics of his parents, then set the underground chamber on fire. He carried the unconscious Xiang Antu out and handed her over to Shi Lei. When Lu Yan arrived at the treasury, she found the underground chamber engulfed in flames, and Xiang Antu had already vanished.

Lu Ran had taken Zhuang Zhifu and Jiang Xiang hostage, and Cao Jingxian pressured Zhuang Luyin to hand over the Gui Seal, but Zhuang Luyin refused outright. Zhuang Zhixing arrived just in time with his men, defeating the factory guards with ease. Seeing the tide turn, Cao Jingxian tried to escape in the chaos. Zhuang Zhixing drew his sword to stab him, but Lu Yan stood by Cao Jingxian’s side.

Zhuang Zhixing was injured, and Lu Yan desperately protected Cao Jingxian as they escaped. Zhuang Luyin suspected that Zang Hai had played a part in the disturbance, or else Cao Jingxian wouldn’t have dared cause such trouble. Fortunately, he had already removed the bronze fish from the underground chamber. Zang Hai revealed that Zhuang Zhifu had stolen the blueprints of the Gui Seal’s container, suspecting he had betrayed them to Cao Jingxian.

Zhuang Luyin also suspected Zang Hai had called Zhuang Zhixing to come rescue them, but Zang Hai denied it. Worried that the emperor would believe only Cao Jingxian’s version of events and punish him, Zang Hai advised Zhuang Luyin to take the blame on behalf of Zhuang Zhifu and seek the emperor’s leniency. Zhuang Zhifu developed a high fever due to an infected wound and kept rambling nonsense. Jiang Xiang cried uncontrollably in distress.

The physician could do nothing, and Zhuang Luyin, heartbroken, begged the physician to save Zhuang Zhifu’s life. Later, Zhuang Luyin visited Zhuang Zhixing and entrusted him with the mission to restore the Zhuang family’s honor.
