Zang Hai and Zhuang Zhixing both wanted to avenge their loved ones. They formed an alliance, with Zang Hai hoping Zhuang Zhixing would win first place in the annual polo tournament. That way, he could earn Zhuang Luyin’s appreciation and eventually become the heir to the Marquis of Pingjin’s household.

Zang Hai, lacking status and influence, was unable to raise support for Zhuang Zhixing on his own, so he came to Zhan Zhen Lou to ask Xiang Antu for help, hoping she could give Zhuang Zhixing a complete transformation before the tournament. Lu Jin dispatched people to investigate all around, but Zang Hai’s background turned out to be clean. Realizing that Cao Jingxian was targeting Zang Hai, Lu Jin conspired with his companions to lie. They falsely claimed Zang Hai’s background was suspicious and sent a message via carrier pigeon to Cao Jingxian. The vegetable seller overheard everything and led his people to surround Lu Jin’s group, shooting down the pigeon. Lu Jin ordered them all killed. A fierce battle broke out.

The factory guards were all slain, and only Lu Jin remained. The old man fought fiercely with Lu Jin; they were evenly matched. As the fight dragged on, the old man began to tire and was knocked down. His disciple rushed in to fight Lu Jin but was killed on the spot. The old man released a pigeon to send a message, but Lu Jin struck him down with a single blow.

When Zang Hai heard that Cao Jingxian suspected him and had sent Lu Jin to Qingquan Town to investigate, he learned that all the factory guards were killed and Lu Jin returned to the capital alone. Zang Hai realized that he could not kill Lu Jin now, or his identity would be exposed. He decided to wait until Lu Jin returned to the capital before making his move.
