You Are My Glory Episode 20 Recap
> You Are My Glory Recap
Jingjing questioned Yu Tu about his recent letters, asking if they were merely a result of his feeling touched by her past foolishness, rather than genuine affection. She clarified that she didn't want a relationship based on such feelings. Yu Tu admitted that his actions might seem foolish, but his profound affection for her was sincere, stating that all the foolish things he had ever done were because of her.
He confessed that he had regretted his initial rejection long ago but was afraid to admit it. During a month-long business trip in the desert, he realized he spent very little time struggling with his decision; most of his thoughts were consumed with how to win her back. He even found himself blaming her for asking him to be together too soon, wishing he had been the one to ask.
He then formally asked her, "Would you like to be with me?" Jingjing responded that she was "a little willing" but felt unhappy about it. Seeing her distress, Yu Tu pulled her into a hug and repeatedly apologized for hurting her. Jingjing explained that she didn't want to be with someone who liked her less than she liked him.
Yu Tu earnestly denied this, clarifying that his past rejection was based on superficial concerns like his income and whether he could adequately care for her, admitting he had overthought their future. Jingjing countered that true affection was impulsive, without hesitation or overthinking, and maintained that he still loved her less. Yu Tu, in a playful but serious tone, challenged her to provide a "calculation method" to quantify their love, promising to make up the difference.
When she accused him of bullying her, he apologized again, and Jingjing simply stated, "I didn't agree." Yu Tu acknowledged her decision. As Jingjing felt cold, they got into the car, and Yu Tu asked her to sit in the front to help him navigate, admitting he didn't remember the way back. After a brief stop for gas, Yu Tu drove Jingjing home.
Before she exited the car, he inquired about her return to Shanghai, mentioning that her assistant, Xiao Zhu, had informed him she planned to return on the fourth day of the New Year and leave for filming on the fifth. Jingjing confirmed his information, and they exchanged New Year wishes. Jingjing then asked how he would get home, and Yu Tu replied he would walk, as his home wasn't far.
She jokingly told him she wouldn't reply to any messages from him, and they bid each other good night. Upon returning home, Jingjing was greeted by her family, who were playing mahjong. Her mother chided her for not calling or ringing the doorbell and wondered why her driver wasn't with her. Jingjing, while participating in the family game, checked her phone and noted it took Yu Tu half an hour to walk home.
She wondered if he still lived in the old town. Meanwhile, Yu Tu returned to his house. His mother, sensing his preoccupied state, expressed her concern to his father. She recalled Yu Tu previously mentioning a pretty girl who wasn't very caring. She was upset that the girl had kept him out so late on New Year's Day, calling it "insensible," and remarked that Yu Tu was usually the one being pursued by girls, not the other way around.
Yu Tu's father, however, encouraged her to let their son handle his own affairs. The next morning, Yu Tu messaged Jingjing, asking if she was awake and if she wanted to go for tofu pudding, famous in Yixing. Jingjing, still in bed, saw the message but was called by her mother to get ready for a visit to her maternal grandma.
At Yu Tu's home, his cousin noticed Yu Tu constantly checking his phone and teased him about being in love, implying the girl was giving him the cold shoulder. Yu Tu put his phone away and, in typical "top student" fashion, deflected by advising his cousin on improving his math skills. Later, while Jingjing was in the mountains digging bamboo shoots with her family, Yu Tu called.
Jingjing intentionally let her phone ring, but her brother picked it up and handed it to her. Yu Tu learned she was digging shoots and suggested they go for a walk by Dongjiu Lake, mentioning the area had changed beautifully. Jingjing declined, stating she was visiting her maternal grandma, then her paternal grandpa the next day, and had no time.
Yu Tu offered to drive her back to Shanghai on the fourth day, but Jingjing cryptically replied, "We'll talk about it then," before hanging up. Jingjing's brother playfully critiqued her "acting skills," to which she simply told him to continue digging. Later that day, Yu Tu, hoping to "accidentally" encounter Jingjing, went to a scenic mountain area with his cousin. His cousin complained about the long walk, noting they had already taken over 15,000 steps.
However, they missed Jingjing, who had already left for Taihua to visit her paternal grandparents. In Taihua, Jingjing was pampered by her grandparents. Her grandmother made her favorite foods and insisted she stay until after dinner, overriding her mother's desire to return to Yixing early for a mahjong game. Jingjing agreed, wanting to spend more time with her grandparents, and even went digging for bamboo shoots with her grandfather. After dinner, Jingjing's family headed back to Yixing.
During the drive, Jingjing texted Yu Tu, informing him she was on her way back and suggesting he might want to arrive a little later if he planned to meet her. Back in Yixing, Jingjing was initially reluctant to go out. However, her friend Pei Pei, after trying on some clothes Jingjing had given her, enthusiastically suggested they go out for drinks and then to Dongjiu Lake.
Pei Pei described how Dongjiu had transformed into a beautiful, romantic spot with charming cafes and private rooms, popular among couples. Jingjing, remembering Yu Tu's earlier suggestion to visit Dongjiu, agreed to go. As they were about to leave, Pei Pei got into the driver's seat and spotted a driver's license. Assuming it was Jingjing's, she picked it up, intending to chide her for leaving it around. Jingjing tried to stop her, but it was too late; Pei Pei opened the license to discover Yu Tu's photo on it.
