Who Rules The World Episode 8 Recap
> Who Rules The World Recap
In order to get Hei Fengxi to drink the medicinal soup, Bai Fengxi coaxed him as gently as possible, promising to buy candied fruit afterward. Sure enough, as soon as she said that, Hei Fengxi was no longer as resistant as before. However, by the latter half of the night, he began to shiver and cry out from the cold repeatedly, even muttering in his unconscious state for Nurse Huan to close the window.
Considering that Hei Fengxi’s body had suffered too much from the cold, Bai Fengxi didn’t hesitate and reached out to hold him in her arms. It wasn't until early the next morning that Hei Fengxi woke up and, upon discovering someone beside his pillow, was so startled he immediately shut his eyes.
Bai Fengxi, realizing that she had held Hei Fengxi throughout the night, hurriedly sat up, but then felt that her act of saving someone was out of sincerity, so there was no need to feel guilty. Fortunately, after a whole night of care, Hei Fengxi’s fever finally subsided, and he sincerely thanked Bai Fengxi for saving him. Hei Fengxi’s politeness, however, made Bai Fengxi feel slightly uncomfortable.
She went to the kitchen to cook him some noodles, which surprisingly reminded him of his mother. Though the Second Prince is still missing, the corpse of the boatman floated to the surface and turned out to be someone from the residence of the First Prince, Feng Chang. Upon learning that the Lord of Yongzhou had summoned Feng Chang to the palace, Feng Qiwu felt that the real culprit was someone else.
After all, the First and Second Princes had a close relationship; even if there had been foul play, he would never have sent one of his own men. Feng Qiwu firmly believed that the Second Prince would be safe, so the top priority was to quickly gather enough evidence and prepare the necessary weapons to fight back before his return. Feng Chang cried out in injustice, believing that someone had deliberately framed him and used another’s hand to kill.
He asked his father to discern who had the most to gain. However, the Lord of Yongzhou still demanded that Feng Chang prove his innocence himself and gave him only seven days to find Feng Lanxi or the real mastermind behind it all. Watching Hei Fengxi finish a whole bowl of noodles, Bai Fengxi felt that her cooking hadn’t been in vain. Curious about his past, she learned of the painful memories he carried.
Though born into a prestigious family, Hei Fengxi rarely felt familial warmth. Beneath the glamorous surface, he was merely a pitiable man. Hei Fengxi explained the identity of Nurse Huan to Bai Fengxi, and although she appeared indifferent, she was secretly delighted. When Feng Ju learned that his father hadn’t harshly punished the First Prince, he panicked, fearing the investigation would eventually point to him. Meanwhile, the Lord of Yongzhou was also analyzing the identity of the culprit.
He already had a rough idea but didn’t know how to handle it. He could only sigh that everything he had gone through back then was now being repeated by these children—such was the fate of those born into royalty. Ren Rusong hurried over upon hearing the news.
Learning that there was still no word from the Second Prince, he was so angry that he nearly killed his youngest son on the spot, berating him for failing to protect his master. Feeling ashamed before the late king and queen, he knelt by the lake in deep grief. As for the First Prince, Feng Chang, he was equally anxious, hoping to find his younger brother soon but dreading the possibility of finding his corpse.
Since Hei Fengxi had slept for nearly ten hours, Bai Fengxi deliberately teased a bird to wake him up. Watching him obediently drink the soup, she finally felt at ease. Bai Langhua was peeking through the window but accidentally made a noise. Bai Fengxi didn’t mind and, considering how boring and stifling the past few days on the boat had been, agreed to let her junior brother dock the boat.
Upon reaching the nearby market, Bai Fengxi took Hei Fengxi strolling about and bought him brown sugar buns, claiming they would replenish his blood. What she didn’t expect was that the local Ruyu Pavilion turned out to be a stronghold of the Fountain Abode.
Hei Fengxi asked the shopkeeper to send a message back to Yongjing and also gifted Bai Fengxi a set of clothing, personally placing a hairpin in her hair, repeatedly reminding her not to sell it for wine. When Yu Wuyuan returned to Jizhou, he went to see Huang Chao at once. Unexpectedly, Huang Chao uncharacteristically asked about Bai Fengxi, completely different from the Hereditary Prince who once cared about the world.
Because of this, Yu Wuyuan suspected that Huang Chao had fallen for Bai Fengxi. Although Huang Chao immediately denied it, the admiration he showed for Bai Fengxi was genuine. Thinking about the matter of the Empyrean Token, Huang Chao had Yu Wuyuan repeatedly verify its authenticity and eventually confirmed that the token he held was a counterfeit, suspecting that someone had swapped it.
Previously, he had heard of Hei Fengxi appearing at Xuanshan and later saving Bai Fengxi, which inevitably raised suspicion, but Yu Wuyuan firmly believed that Hei Fengxi had nothing to do with it. For several days afterward, no clues about Feng Lanxi could be found. Subordinate Wang Yuan attempted to use a similar-looking corpse as a stand-in for the Second Prince. With no other choice, Feng Ju ordered several monks to perform rituals.
The Lord of Yongzhou felt that the chance of Feng Lanxi’s survival was slim, so he halved the search personnel. But Feng Qiwu found this decision inappropriate. After all, rumors among the people said that the Second and Third Princes didn’t get along.
If the order was given now, it would make the people think the Lord of Yongzhou was favoring Feng Ju, indirectly admitting that Feng Ju had killed his brother and was now using that to gain fame in hopes of becoming the future Hereditary Prince. While distributing porridge was acceptable, it should be presided over by the Lord of Yongzhou, not the Third Prince. Hei Fengxi received a message from Yongjing and told Bai Fengxi that the contents were mixed.
His father felt no sorrow, but his elder brother was truly heartbroken. Even his closest aides remained loyal—only his third brother was the mastermind behind this incident. At the same time, Feng Qiwu received a secret letter confirming that Hei Fengxi was still alive, finally putting his mind at ease. Due to acclimatization issues, Bai Langhua contracted typhoid and urgently needed a doctor.
Hei Fengxi suggested they go to Yongjing first, where he could recommend the best physician, and return to the Tianshuang Sect once she recovered. Bai Fengxi readily agreed. Fortunately, the treatment was timely, saving Bai Langhua’s life, though Bai Fengxi spent almost all her remaining silver for her junior sister. Feng Qiwu immediately went to see Hei Fengxi and reported the Third Prince’s situation and the collusion with Wang Yuan to prepare a fake corpse to confirm the death.
Hei Fengxi knew that Wang Yuan was the mastermind and that Feng Ju kept him by his side only because of his ambition and willingness to take risks. According to Feng Ju’s scheme, even if their father truly found out the truth, Wang Yuan could be sacrificed to take the blame. His cunning was no less than Madam Baili’s and was perhaps even more dangerous.
