Jizhou had long since taken control of You and Shang states, while Yongzhou controlled Qing and North. The situation was urgent. However, the new emperor Jing Yan paid no attention to military affairs. General Dongshu advised him that, as the ruler, he should prioritize state matters and not indulge in scholarly leisure. Jing Yan dismissed the warning and told General Dongshu and Yu Wuyuan to discuss it themselves.

To gain General Dongshu’s trust, Yu Wuyuan revealed his trump card—his secret elite army, which amazed the general. Upon learning that Yu Wuyuan commanded 100,000 troops and appeared fully prepared, Dongshu shifted from suspicion to deep trust, mistakenly believing Yu Wuyuan truly intended to defend Dadong. Little did he know, Yu Wuyuan had used the Empyrean Token to lift his curse and was now waiting quietly for the results.

According to his plan, the Yong and Ji armies would soon enter the royal domain, and before that happened, they would likely fight to the death. Meanwhile, Huang Yu, listening outside the door, accidentally made a sound. Yu Wuyuan then ordered the leader of the Duanhun Sect to take action against her. At court, opinions were divided.

Bai Fengxi believed the battle for the royal domain was inevitable and was most concerned about Yu Wuyuan lurking in the shadows—an unpredictable and dangerous man. Hei Fengxi speculated that Huang Chao would surely send his main force from Jizhou to Yancheng, so he ordered the Ren brothers to lead 100,000 Mo Yu Cavalry troops through the North to press toward Jiaocheng and charge straight to the royal domain.

In addition, the Mo Yu Cavalry and the northern Yongzhou forces, led by Hei Fengxi and Ren Rusong, would break through the Yong-Shang border and enter the royal domain, forming a pincer against Huang Chao. Bai Fengxi would then lead Qingzhou troops to seize Juan City. While Hei Fengxi engaged with Huang Chao, Bai Fengxi could storm into the royal domain, and the two would reunite in the imperial capital. Huang Chao, too, mobilized his forces.

A great war between the two nations was imminent. He had anticipated Hei Fengxi’s strategy. The battle of Dongdan would be the decisive moment. Huang Chao ordered Xue Kong to lead the army to Dongdan first, while Qiu Jiushuang was sent to Jiaocheng to prepare an ambush in case Yongzhou entered the capital.

With the imperial family weakened and insufficient troops, both Hei Fengxi and Huang Chao advanced toward the royal domain, forcing Jing Yan to summon his troops back to the capital as a final move. Hei Fengxi learned that the city was deserted, suspecting Yu Wuyuan might have gone to the capital and possibly usurped Jing Yan’s power.

After assigning tasks to Qi Shu and General Xu, Bai Fengxi received intel that General Dongshu had not stayed to guard the royal domain but had instead gone to Juan City. Intrigued, she wanted to test her skills against the legendary general. But Juan City’s walls were low and thin, hard to defend, and the city’s food supplies were halved, lasting at most twenty days. Nevertheless, Bai Fengxi was determined—this battle was inevitable.

Soon, Bai Fengxi and her forces annihilated most of the imperial guards. Seeing Juan City was too weak to defend, and unwilling to see the people suffer, she changed her plan to hold the decisive battle at Xiyuan. Upon arriving outside Juan City and seeing the ground littered with imperial corpses, General Dongshu rushed to Xiyuan. Elsewhere, the Ren brothers arrived three days earlier than expected.

Qi Shu and others brought the provisions as ordered, and just as news came from Juan City, Hei Fengxi finally felt some relief and ordered the march on Dongdan the next day. At dawn, Hei Fengxi and Huang Chao each led their armies into battle. Like the strategic match in Youzhou years ago, both advanced cautiously, launching flanking attacks. After dozens of rounds, neither side gained the upper hand, and both retreated temporarily.

While the army rested en route, Han Pu suddenly recalled that the enemy’s weapons were unusual, their formations well-coordinated, and their injuries healed quickly—suggesting the use of secret medicine from the Han family. Upon hearing this, Bai Fengxi immediately thought of Yu Wuyuan. For being so devoid of humanity and causing chaos, he would one day have to be eliminated. After so many brushes with death, Bai Fengxi longed for the war to end.

Han Pu also dreamed of opening a clinic afterward—for a true hero not only roamed the world but also saved lives. Unfortunately, something unexpected occurred. While passing through Luoying Mountain, Bai Fengxi and her group were ambushed. Half of the 30,000 Fengyun Cavalry were lost.

Bai Fengxi fought desperately to protect Lin Ji and the others, who broke through the siege and hurried to seek help from Hei Fengxi, stating that the attackers were not imperial troops, but vicious soldiers who endangered civilians. Because Bai Fengxi shared life and death with her soldiers and held Luoying Mountain despite the danger, Hei Fengxi grew increasingly anxious and mobilized 100,000 troops to support her.

Ren Rusong sent Zhongli to replace Hei Fengxi at the Jizhou camp to negotiate with Huang Chao, proposing that Yongzhou give up the Dongdan route to show goodwill, hoping that Huang Chao would also withdraw temporarily so they could first eliminate their common enemy. Huang Chao was in no rush and instead assembled a great army to march directly on the capital.

Upon hearing this, Yu Wuyuan revealed the truth to Jing Yan—that the world would inevitably fall into his hands. Jing Yan was shocked, but before he could react, Yu Wuyuan suppressed him with internal force, rendering him immobile—a complete puppet. Han Pu prepared a poison and gave it to Bai Fengxi. Once applied to a blade, it could paralyze the enemy.

When Bai Fengxi noticed the campfires near the barracks had decreased, she suddenly realized that General Dongshu had blocked the reinforcements overnight, using them as bait to lure Hei Fengxi. Knowing Hei Fengxi well, Yu Wuyuan intended to destroy him in one blow. Fearing for Hei Fengxi’s safety, Bai Fengxi quickly assembled her troops for a night breakout. Unbeknownst to her, Hei Fengxi had encountered an ambush on the way and was delayed.

General Dongshu observed the battlefield from a short distance. Upon witnessing the Fengyun Cavalry risking their lives to protect Bai Fengxi, he was moved by their loyalty and bravery. In an instant, the battlefield turned into a sea of blood. Bai Fengxi was too busy to notice the looming danger—until a volley of arrows rained down. To save her, Han Pu threw himself in front of the arrows.
