Who Rules The World Episode 13 Recap
> Who Rules The World Recap
Hei Fengxi, titled Prince Yongping, has been placed under house arrest by the Lord of Yongzhou for falsely accusing a government official. The case regarding the civil examination fraud has been reassigned to Zhang Zhongge for re-investigation. Gongsheng Song Sihan could not withstand the torture and ultimately confessed that the original exam paper was handwritten by Pei Youshu.
He admitted that, on the eve of the examination, Pei Youshu had dismissed the servants to speak with four candidates and had inspected every examination room. Upon confirming that Pei Youshu was involved in leaking the exam questions, the Lord of Yongzhou ordered his imprisonment. When Feng Qiwu learned of this, she was about to discuss countermeasures with the Second Prince, but Hei Fengxi unexpectedly came without invitation.
He had already uncovered Madam Baili’s plan, as everything had progressed far too smoothly, as if prearranged. Thus, Hei Fengxi knew that the Duke of Liang was not the true source of the leak and decided to go along with the plan, feigning that he had fallen into Madam Baili’s trap while secretly investigating the real suspect. Madam Baili surely now believes the matter is settled and would take the next step to destroy the evidence.
Hei Fengxi instructed his people to uncover the truth in time. Bai Fengxi received a letter from Ruyuxuan, finally understanding that her master was originally going to visit an old friend. By chance, he heard news about Elder Taiyin planning to pass on his legacy, which led him to change course. Since Elder Taiyin had set a trial in Misty Mountain, with his abilities, the homing pigeon would naturally fail to find the master.
Because of this, Bai Langhua prepared to head to Misty Mountain, but Bai Fengxi persuaded her to first recover in Yongjing, assuring her there was no rush. While delivering a meal to Hei Fengxi, Zhongli also shared updates about the Duke of Liang’s residence, noticing that the steward often had dealings with Lu Xiumu. Hei Fengxi then had him inform the Ren brothers to keep watch over the Lu residence.
That night, Feng Ju, acting on Madam Baili’s instructions, ordered his subordinates to secretly assassinate Lu Xiumu. Coincidentally, Gu Yu, still struggling with his gambling habit, encountered someone from Feng Ju’s entourage. The man not only paid off his debts but even offered a thousand taels of silver to hire a killer. Gu Yu believed the lie, thinking Lu Xiumu was a corrupt official, and sneaked into the Lu residence to assassinate him.
Before dying, Lu Xiumu uttered the words “Mulan. ” Bai Fengxi had been tracking her junior, but she was a step too late. She watched as he was captured by people from the Fountain Abode, and noticed those same people coming and going from Prince Yongping’s residence. She began to suspect a connection and suddenly realized that Hei Fengxi and Feng Lanxi differed by only one character in their names. She quickly understood that they might be the same person.
As Bai Fengxi suspected, Hei Fengxi candidly admitted his identity. In fact, he had never intended to hide it from her but had not found the right opportunity to explain. Bai Fengxi was convinced that Gu Yu had been manipulated into attempting to kill Lu Xiumu.
After hearing the full story of the exam scandal, she lamented that the treachery in court politics far exceeded the dangers of the martial world, making her favor the clarity of the jianghu even more. Just then, news broke that Gu Yu had committed suicide by poisoning in prison, cutting off all leads. To avenge her junior, Bai Fengxi decided to investigate the mastermind behind the case alongside Hei Fengxi.
They soon noticed that the royal seal on the exam paper was too faint and, upon using a divided-seal press, discovered there were two sets of exam papers. Feng Qiwu reported to the Lord of Yongzhou that the exam paper was not the original one and that the only person capable of leaking it was Lu Xiumu. As for the Second Prince Feng Lanxi, he had merely been misled.
With the Lord’s approval, Feng Qiwu sent people to thoroughly search the Lu residence. Though Lu Xiumu had burned the exam paper in front of the Prime Minister, Madam Baili remained uneasy and instructed the Prime Minister to check for any hidden courtyards in the Lu estate. Meanwhile, Hei Fengxi analyzed Lu Xiumu’s final words and confirmed that “Mulan” referred to a whistle used in deer hunting.
Just then, news arrived from the Fountain Abode that Lu Xiumu’s courtyard was used to store hunting gear. Hei Fengxi and Feng Qiwu rushed over and were able to stop the arsonist just in time. They found crucial evidence, which Feng Qiwu handed to the Lord of Yongzhou, clearing Feng Lanxi of any charges of framing to protect Pei Youshu.
Unexpectedly, the Lord of Yongzhou ordered Feng Lanxi to stop involving himself in the case, reminding him that as Prince Yongping, he should care for the greater good and not fuss over personal grievances. Ultimately, all blame would stop with Lu Xiumu. Hei Fengxi felt disappointed with his father—despite knowing that further investigation would reveal the real culprit, the Lord still chose to cover it up.
Shortly after Hei Fengxi left, the Lord of Yongzhou summoned Madam Baili and reprimanded her for the exam scandal. Realizing she could no longer conceal the truth, Madam Baili confessed that she did it to avenge past injustices. Had it not been for Feng Lanxi’s mother interfering in her relationship, she would not have been separated from the Lord for five long years, suffering from longing.
The Lord, unable to bear her pain, forgave her and advised her not to repeat her mistakes. He urged her to align with him so they could stand firm amid the coming turmoil. Ren Rusong, hearing of recent palace events, also knew that Hei Fengxi had endured much.
Now that Hei Fengxi and Madam Baili were completely at odds and the struggle for the throne had already been set in motion, he advised Hei Fengxi not to dwell on temporary setbacks and to focus on the bigger picture. If he wanted to become Hereditary Prince, he would have to endure certain grievances. Moreover, Hei Fengxi's ambitions went beyond Yongzhou.
If he truly harbored such aspirations, he would face greater trials ahead—just like Su Wu herding sheep or Han Xin enduring humiliation, all for a greater purpose. Ren Rusong also knew that Madam Baili intended to find a consort for the Second Prince. To avoid complications, he suggested that Hei Fengxi should consider Feng Qiwu. However, Hei Fengxi firmly refused, stating that the path he chose should not be hindered by matters of romance.
Therefore, the selection of a consort would be postponed. In truth, Hei Fengxi’s frustration lay in everyone demanding he let go and think of the bigger picture. Yet the very reason he entered this game was to settle those accounts.
