Who Rules The World Episode 1 Recap
> Who Rules The World Recap
At present, the world is divided into seven regions, with the Imperial Family of Dadong being the most revered. It has been a century since Emperor Weilie founded the nation. With the Empyrean Token balancing the six states, the various feudal lords have kept to their boundaries. But once news of the Token’s disappearance began to spread, Crown Prince Jingyan rushed into the palace to seek an audience.
Emperor Chunxi immediately issued an edict, commanding the kings of the six states to search for it with all their might. Meanwhile, in the martial world, the renowned Fountain Abode was also quietly gathering intelligence from all sides and reporting to their master, Hei Fengxi, at once, secretly investigating the reason behind the incident. Because the Empyrean Token symbolizes supreme imperial authority, all heroes of the realm desire it to ascend to the highest throne.
With the Imperial Family already weakened, ambitions within the six states are on the rise—none more so than the Lord of Yongzhou. Though many forces intervened, they found no trace of it until, a month later, the Empyrean Token fell into the hands of Yan Yingzhou. The heir of Jizhou, Huang Chao, was overjoyed upon hearing this and ordered General Xiao Xuekong to send troops quickly to assist.
Little did he know, at the foot of Mount Xuan, a man dressed in black was being pursued—none other than Yan Yingzhou, one of the Four Generals of Jizhou, famed across the six states as the Fierce Wind General. The route had long been ambushed. Though Yan Yingzhou was highly skilled in martial arts, even he could not fight off many with just two fists.
Before long, he was gravely injured twice, leaving him exhausted and trapped in a deadly siege. At this critical moment, Bai Fengxi appeared and rescued Yan Yingzhou, later settling him in a cave on the northern peak of Mount Xuan. The reason Bai Fengxi was willing to help was because Yan Yingzhou was a man of great righteousness.
Three years ago, in order to protect the people of Changfeng City, he defied the orders of the Lord of Jizhou and led his army to annihilate the Shangzhou forces at Fierce Wind Pass, north of the city. This deeply impressed Bai Fengxi, who was thus willing to go to the Han family to retrieve medicine for him. Coincidentally, Hei Fengxi had just received an invitation from the Han family and set out immediately.
It was widely known that the Han family, though part of the martial world, was not famous for their martial skills but for their family’s secret medicinal formulas, especially the Purple Palace Powder for external wounds and the sacred detoxifying Fo Xin Dan. In a world where people live by the sword and often suffer injuries or poisoning, the Han family’s miraculous medicines were highly sought after. However, the Han family’s medicines were closely guarded secrets and rarely given away.
Though their martial skills weren’t strong, they were still treated with respect. It was the sixtieth birthday of the Han patriarch, Han Xuanling, and the front of the estate was filled with carriages and horses. A hundred banquet tables were set in the garden. Gentry and celebrities from the city arrived in admiration, as did martial heroes from other states to offer their congratulations. As host and guests enjoyed themselves, a clear voice suddenly rang out, silencing the garden's noise.
The guests looked toward the sound and saw Bai Fengxi reclining against the eaves on the rooftop, smiling brightly at Han Xuanling and bluntly asking for the elixir as if casually borrowing salt from an old friend. Han Xuanling, however, looked displeased, shielding his young son Han Pu. He soon became enraged, glaring and scolding, with snippets of his words revealing past grievances between them.
Bai Fengxi was known for her elusive nature and often forcibly took the Han family's elixirs, hence her enmity with Han Xuanling. But as she was highly skilled in martial arts and came and went from the Han household freely, Han Xuanling could do nothing. Today, with many heroes present, he finally found the courage to confront her. Sure enough, some in the crowd voiced support for Han Xuanling.
Seeing Bai Fengxi as a young woman, they underestimated her martial prowess. Several people attacked her at once, weapons gleaming coldly as they aimed for vital spots. The garden was instantly thrown into chaos, shadows darting everywhere. Yet Bai Fengxi remained composed and quickly dispatched her attackers. Amid the jesting, there were cries of pain, shattering dishes, and breaking furniture.
In just a moment, the garden was in shambles, with the most miserable being those heroes who had attacked Bai Fengxi. Hei Fengxi stood outside the gate, not in a hurry to enter. When the time seemed right, he had the guards announce him. Han Xuanling, upon seeing Hei Fengxi, sighed in relief as if receiving a royal pardon and rushed forward to greet him.
The "fox" Hei Fengxi, as Bai Fengxi called him, resolved the conflict smoothly under his title as the Benevolent King. With a few words, he apologized and compensated Han Xuanling on Bai Fengxi’s behalf, then appeased the rest of the guests. Han Xuanling had long heard the outside world jokingly refer to the pair as "Hei Feng and Bai Xi" and did not wish to offend Hei Fengxi, so he graciously gave in.
After leaving the Han residence, Bai Fengxi returned with the medicine to the cave, only to find that Yan Yingzhou had left without a word. Meanwhile, Hei Fengxi hosted a banquet to keep guests from going after Bai Fengxi. His attendants, Ren Chuanyu and Zhong Li, both believed their young master had fallen for her. When Hei Fengxi learned of Yan Yingzhou's disappearance, he guessed that it was to avoid burdening Bai Fengxi.
Given her meddlesome nature, a fierce battle that night was inevitable. As Hei Fengxi had predicted, Bai Fengxi found Yan Yingzhou in the forest. After taking the Fo Xin Dan, he was able to temporarily suppress the poison. But before they could catch their breath, danger approached. They simultaneously leapt back, narrowly dodging the attack. A white ribbon and a long sword met the black-clad attackers descending from the air.
These enemies were top-tier martial artists, unlike the mixed bunch they faced earlier. Four out of ten went for Yan Yingzhou, while six surrounded Bai Fengxi. The two fought side by side to break out of the siege, but it was a struggle. During the battle, one of the attackers ambushed Yan Yingzhou, causing the Empyrean Token in his bundle to fall out. Bai Fengxi instinctively reached to catch it—only to be poisoned as a result.
Yan Yingzhou quickly sealed her acupuncture points and left her four Fo Xin Dan pills. Though they couldn't cure the poison, they could delay its effects. To save her life, Yan Yingzhou went out alone to lure away the attackers. Before leaving, he begged her to pass his blade to Huang Chao. Since Bai Fengxi’s acupoints were sealed, she couldn’t stop him and could only watch him leave the cave, heart aching.
Elsewhere, attendant Sun Si was ordered to stop others from going up the mountain, thus avoiding a direct encounter with Bai Fengxi. When she woke and went to look for Yan Yingzhou, she was surrounded by members of the Soulbreaking Sect. Fortunately, at the critical moment, Hei Fengxi arrived in time to rescue her. He personally treated her injuries, using Snow Jade Lotus as a primer, but Bai Fengxi remained ungrateful.
As for the silver blade that Bai Fengxi had risked her life to protect—it concealed within it an Empyrean Token. But to Hei Fengxi, it appeared to be a replica. Yan Yingzhou was one of the Four Generals, and Huang Chao had always valued talent. He would never let him die in vain. Now that a fake Token had been thrown out, the real purpose was to lure heroes of the realm to their deaths—so the mastermind behind the scenes could reap the benefits.
