Hearing that Lin Qiaosong had taken Wei Ruolai directly to the execution ground, Shen Tunan didn't say a word and immediately took Huang Congyun to rush over and save him. Lin Qiaosong saw people coming to rescue Wei Ruolai and ordered the execution to begin immediately. Shen Jinzhen and Niu Chunmiao arrived in time, and a fierce battle broke out between the two sides. Huang Congyun worried that Shen Tunan was in danger and drove him aside to hide.

Wei Ruolai escaped amidst the chaos. Lin Qiaosong drove after him relentlessly. Shen Jinzhen and Niu Chunmiao attacked Lin Qiaosong from the front and back. Unable to dodge, Lin Qiaosong crashed his car into a large tree. He watched helplessly as Wei Ruolai was rescued by Niu Chunmiao, so angry he gnashed his teeth. Shen Tunan was worried about Wei Ruolai. He got out of the car and came to the execution ground to search for him.

All the members of Lin Qiaosong's death squad were killed, but there was no sign of Wei Ruolai. Shen Tunan saw Shen Jinzhen's back from afar, but couldn't see clearly because it was too far away. He found a bullet casing at the scene. Shen Jinzhen saw Shen Tunan return after leaving. Fearing he would recognize her, she quickly put away her submachine gun and left the scene. Shen Jinzhen and Niu Chunmiao rescued Wei Ruolai and brought him back.

Shen Jinzhen told Wei Ruolai to take Niu Chunmiao to the Soviet Area. Wei Ruolai wanted to stay and continue investigating the real culprits behind the construction bonds scam. Shen Jinzhen advised him to give up early. Even if he found the truth, he couldn't change the current state of government corruption. Shen Jinzhen told Wei Ruolai to go work at the Soviet Area bank.

Niu Chunmiao also chimed in, and only then did Wei Ruolai reluctantly agree to transfer as soon as possible. Shen Jinzhen asked Xu Nuo to arrange for Wei Ruolai and Niu Chunmiao to go to the Soviet Area. Xu Nuo complained that Shen Jinzhen shouldn't have acted on her own. He had already arranged Wei Ruolai's transfer route, but he didn't expect Niu Chunmiao to be added.

Lin Qiaosong reported to Kang Shaojie the process of Wei Ruolai being rescued. Kang Shaojie sent him to the arsenal to arrest Shen Jinzhen. The factory director had no choice but to let them in to search.

Lin Qiaosong meticulously searched Shen Jinzhen's office, only finding two business cards for a fashion store. As soon as Shen Jinzhen left, she was followed. She had the rickshaw puller circle around in small alleys and finally shook off her pursuers. Wei Ruolai and Niu Chunmiao waited until ten o'clock but still didn't see Shen Jinzhen. They quickly went to the fashion store to find Xu Nuo and ask for the reason.

Xu Nuo guessed that something had happened to Shen Jinzhen and arranged for Wei Ruolai and Niu Chunmiao to leave Shanghai by water. Lin Qiaosong brought people to the fashion store to make arrests. Xu Nuo forcefully chased Wei Ruolai and Niu Chunmiao away. Lin Qiaosong forced Xu Nuo to reveal Shen Jinzhen's whereabouts. Xu Nuo refused to yield even unto death. He had already prepared himself for sacrifice.

Shen Jinzhen arrived at a small hotel and learned that Wei Ruolai and Niu Chunmiao had already left. She hurried to the fashion store and saw a loud explosion from the store from afar. Shen Jinzhen knew that Xu Nuo had sacrificed himself to protect Wei Ruolai. She stood there in a daze. Shen Tunan arrived in time to take her away. Wei Ruolai heard the explosion from the fashion store and guessed that Xu Nuo had sacrificed himself.

He felt very sad and pulled Niu Chunmiao along to leave. Lin Qiaosong's subordinates were almost all killed or injured by the explosion. He was also injured. Wen Biao only found a ledger at the scene. Lin Qiaosong immediately took people to Shen Tunan's house to arrest Shen Jinzhen. Shen Tunan took Shen Jinzhen to a safe area and questioned her about when she joined the Communist Party. Shen Jinzhen admitted she was an underground party member.

In a fit of anger, Shen Tunan slapped her hard. Shen Jinzhen swore she wouldn't implicate Shen Tunan's entire family and asked Shen Tunan to shoot her. Shen Tunan was heartbroken, not expecting Shen Jinzhen to have joined the Communist Party behind his back. Shen Jinzhen advised Shen Tunan not to remain stubbornly unrepentant. Only the Communist Party could save this country. With tears in her eyes, Shen Jinzhen said goodbye to Shen Tunan.

She was going to escort Wei Ruolai and Niu Chunmiao in their evacuation from Shanghai. Lin Qiaosong led his men to rush into Shen Tunan's house. Shen Jinzhen wasn't home. Lin Qiaosong took his men to the train station and docks to search for Shen Jinzhen. Shen Tunan worried that Shen Jinzhen was in danger and drove after her. Wei Ruolai and Niu Chunmiao dodged and weaved, but ended up being kidnapped by Qian Shaoliang's subordinates.

Qian Shaoliang was completely disillusioned with the Nationalist Party. He wanted to make friends with the Communist Party to leave a way out for himself. He asked Wei Ruolai to help take care of his relatives in his hometown in Jiangxi. Shen Jinzhen remembered Xu Nuo's death and was heartbroken, tears streaming down her face.
