Upon recovering from his induced stupor, Lu Yi cautioned Yuan Jinxia against revealing his restored state to anyone. Jinxia, enraged by the discovery that Master Yuanming had used a colorless and odorless knockout incense on Lu Yi, impulsively declared her intent to immediately arrest him. However, Lu Yi restrained her, urging her to cooperate with his plan. Moments later, as Xie Xiao, Beggar Master, and Lin Ling arrived with medicine, Lu Yi swiftly reverted to his eight-year-old persona.

Xie Xiao tried to force the medicine down his throat, but Lu Yi spat it back in his face. Lu Yi then mischievously hid behind Jinxia, pouting and requesting her help to wipe his face, further infuriating Xie Xiao. Lan Qingxuan intervened, reminding Xie Xiao not to quarrel with a child, while Lu Yi, smirking triumphantly, leaned into Jinxia, resting his head on her shoulder.

Lin Ling, examining the crime scene, identified a corrosive poison that also served as a guiding drug for a "pill to prolong life," leading her to suspect it was related to the fabled elixir. Lan Qingxuan then mentioned that Master Yuanming had recently acquired a formula for such a pill, though its origin was unknown. After Beggar Master and Lin Ling departed, Lan Qingxuan announced he was going to play chess with Master Yuanming.

Jinxia, eager to follow, tried to convince Lu Yi to come along, but Xie Xiao playfully dragged him off to practice swordsmanship instead. During their "practice," Xie Xiao proudly boasted about his ability to balance a wooden bucket on his head with a sword. Lu Yi, feigning interest, secretly flicked a stone at the bucket, drenching Xie Xiao.

With a satisfied smirk, Lu Yi then offered to wipe Xie Xiao's wet face with his saliva, prompting a frustrated Xie Xiao to chase him around. Meanwhile, Lin Ling confided in Beggar Master, deducing that the "elixir" formula Lan Qingxuan spoke of was likely the long-lost volume of the medical book from the Pharma King Valley. Concerned about the current Emperor's pursuit of immortality, they feared Master Yuanming would misuse the incomplete formula, potentially causing widespread disaster.

Later, having grown accustomed to freely entering Lu Yi's room, Jinxia walked in on him changing. Lu Yi, seizing the opportunity, tossed his clothes at her, instructing her to help him dress. Jinxia, though grumbling internally about potential post-poisoning side effects, complied. She then subtly tested him, confirming his full recovery, which led her to muse that the "demon" had indeed returned.

Lu Yi then re-tied a hand bracelet onto Jinxia's wrist, sternly forbidding her from ever removing it without his permission. Attempting to placate him, she offered him some sweet soup she had prepared. Lu Yi, however, had other priorities, instructing her to inform Cen Fu of his recovery and have Cen Fu report his findings directly to him. He also stressed the importance of keeping a close watch on Master Yuanming.

Jinxia dutifully went to find Master Yuanming, who was engrossed in meditation. Under the cloak of night, Lu Yi, disguised in black, infiltrated Master Yuanming’s secret chamber. He inadvertently triggered a mechanism, revealing another hidden room. As he prepared to enter, a figure emerged, and the two engaged in a brief struggle before Lu Yi recognized his opponent as Beggar Master. They unmasked, sharing their mutual surprise.

Meanwhile, Master Yuanming concluded his meditation, and Jinxia, covering for her presence, feigned an interest in cultivation. Master Yuanming, pleased, began teaching her basic meditation techniques. In the secret room, Lu Yi informed Beggar Master and Lin Ling of his recovery and Master Yuanming's betrayal. Beggar Master, in turn, confirmed their suspicion that Yuanming’s formula was indeed the lost Pharma King Valley volume, which likely led to Fatso's murder.

Jinxia then burst into the secret room, complaining about her sore and numb legs from meditating all night. Lan Qingxuan and Xie Xiao followed close behind. Xie Xiao, noticing Lu Yi in his Jin Yi Wei uniform, excitedly tried to drag him off to practice swords again. Beggar Master and Jinxia, amused, quickly informed Xie Xiao of Lu Yi’s complete recovery.

Realizing he had been tricked, Xie Xiao charged at Lu Yi, but Jinxia managed to pull him out of the room before a fight could escalate. Elsewhere, Shangguan Xi received a letter from Yang Yue. She sighed, reflecting on Yang Yue's persistence and her own unrequited feelings for Xie Xiao.

In the letter, Yang Yue expressed his guilt towards Shangguan Xi and his intention to seek his father's permission to cancel their engagement, freeing them both, as he wished to propose to Jinxia. Cen Fu later reported to Lu Yi that their investigations revealed Master Yuanming was not originally a professional alchemist but a skilled pill-maker before taking over Danqing Taoist Temple.

Soon after, he began presenting "Long Life Pills" to the court, suggesting a powerful figure was manipulating events behind the scenes. Cen Fu added that Yuanming’s laboratory remained undiscovered within Danqing Taoist Temple, as disciples claimed no one was permitted to observe him while he made pills. With this information, Lu Yi ordered Cen Fu to prepare for Master Yuanming's transfer to the capital the next morning.

The following morning, Jinxia stretched upon waking and found Lu Yi standing contemplatively in the courtyard. When Lu Yi turned, he found Jinxia giggling. She praised his handsome appearance, adding that she found herself unaccustomed to his normal demeanor after his recovery, which brought a faint smile to Lu Yi’s lips. Suddenly, Lan Qingxuan rushed in, frantic, to report that Slim-jim had disappeared and his cabinet was empty, implying he might have run away.

Jinxia, however, discovered a pile of gray powder beneath a mat in Slim-jim's room, recognizing it from Lin Ling's earlier descriptions as a pill-making ingredient. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Lu Yi immediately led the group to find Master Yuanming. They found Master Yuanming in a secret chamber, attempting to silence Slim-jim, who had discovered his dark secret. Lu Yi and the others intervened, saving Slim-jim.

Master Yuanming, defiant, claimed his pills were never toxic and that he possessed the lost Pharma King Valley formula. Slim-jim, terrified but now safe, bravely revealed that Master Yuanming had killed Fatso and Xin because they uncovered his secrets. Lan Qingxuan, unable to process the truth about his revered master, stumbled back, consumed by guilt. He blamed himself for bringing Xin to Danqing Taoist Temple, believing it led to Xin's death, and hysterically began striking himself.

Overwhelmed with grief and rage, Lan Qingxuan attempted to commit suicide by ramming his head into a wall, but Lu Yi swiftly knocked him unconscious. Master Yuanming remained indifferent to the deaths, his sole obsession being eternal life. Lin Ling, however, revealed that what he sought was not a true elixir of life. Lu Yi, holding one of Yuanming’s pills, demanded to know who had provided the formula and who else had handled the pills.

Yuanming, after a moment of thought, pointed at Slim-jim, claiming he was the only other person. Slim-jim vehemently denied it, but Jinxia presented the gray powder she found in his room to Lin Ling, who identified it as poisonous Arisaema heterophyllum Blume, harmful if ingested raw. Terrified, Slim-jim collapsed and confessed: a month prior, someone had paid him a large sum of money to secretly add the powder to Master Yuanming's furnace.

Master Yuanming, still begging for his pill, watched in horror as Lu Yi crushed it before his eyes. Driven to madness, Yuanming frantically scooped up the remaining powder and swallowed it, quickly succumbing to its effects and dying from internal bleeding. Meanwhile, in the capital, Yan Shifan dispatched his guard, Yan Shiwei, and Di Lanye to retrieve Lin Ling, noting her unusual importance to him. Di Lanye, observing Yan Shifan's behavior, realized the depth of his feelings for Lin Ling.

Back at the temple, Slim-jim was taken by Jin Yi Wei to draw a portrait of the individual who paid him. However, as he sketched the outline, an arrow shot from the shadows, killing him instantly. Lu Yi, deducing the mastermind behind the conspiracy, ordered Cen Fu to deliver a letter to his father, Lu Ting, detailing the findings. He then announced his own departure for Hangzhou.

Separately, Shangguan Xi was traveling to find Xie Xiao when she sensed she was being followed. She prepared for an ambush, only to discover it was Yang Yue. Yang Yue sheepishly claimed he was on his way to find Jinxia, a claim Shangguan Xi reluctantly accepted.
