Thirteen years prior, Lin Ling found herself bound and at the mercy of Yan Shifan. He callously informed her that she had walked into his trap, daring to claim she had seduced him. To coerce her, he threatened that her family's three generations would be executed, boasting that he was not afraid of the Pharma King Valley. Lin Ling, feigning submission, agreed to obey if he untied her.

Once she was freed, Yan Shifan knelt to admire her feet, but she seized the opportunity and stabbed his left eye. Enraged, Yan Shifan screamed for his guards to capture her, vowing revenge. In the present, Yan Shifan, still obsessed, recalls the attack. He learns that Lin Ling has finally reappeared and orders his subordinate, Yan Feng, to depart for Yangzhou immediately and bring her back alive, emphasizing she is not to be harmed.

He then fiercely clutches a terrified female servant, declaring his intent to lock Lin Ling by his side forever. Meanwhile, Yuan Jinxia brings a medicinal decoction to Lu Yi. Lu Yi, whose mind has regressed to that of a thirteen-year-old, mistakes her for a new maid and warns her to leave before his father finds out and has her sold. Confused, Yuan Jinxia simply urges him to drink the medicine. Lu Yi refuses, insisting he is perfectly healthy.

When Yuan Jinxia asks his age, he replies, "Thirteen," surprising her with the rapid change in his mental state. She persists, eventually using a bracelet he once gave her as leverage to make him take the medicine. Lu Yi, not recognizing her, suspects the decoction might be poisoned. To reassure him, Yuan Jinxia takes a sip herself. Seeing this, Lu Yi gulps down the rest and then childishly snatches the bracelet back, hiding it away like a precious treasure.

Yuan Jinxia watches Lu Yi practice swordsmanship, marveling at his impressive skill for a thirteen-year-old. Later, Master Yuanming comes to check on Lu Yi. When Lu Yi does not recognize him, Master Yuanming, aware of Lu Yi's condition, offers Yuan Jinxia a mind-clearing pill he created. He takes one himself to demonstrate its harmlessness before Yuan Jinxia administers it to a reluctant Lu Yi.

Afterward, Yuan Jinxia, Gai Shu, Xie Xiao, and Lin Ling discuss the assassination attempt on Lu Yi. Since guards confirmed no one entered or exited the Danqing Taoist Temple during the attack, they conclude the assassin is still inside. Suspecting Master Yuanming, Lan Qingxuan, and Slim-jim, Gai Shu assigns Yuan Jinxia to investigate Lan Qingxuan and Xie Xiao to trail Slim-jim, while he and Lin Ling decide to handle the cunning Master Yuanming.

Lin Ling politely invites Master Yuanming to a side room for tea, creating a diversion so Gai Shu can search his quarters. At the docks, Shangguan Xi is nearly crushed by falling cargo when Yang Yue suddenly appears and shields her from harm. He explains that he felt uneasy after leaving and returned to check on her. Shangguan Xi sternly demands to know why he came back.

Yang Yue confesses he can't let her go and feels bound by the oath he made to stay by her side. Shangguan Xi dismisses the oath as drunken words meant only to comfort her. She insists she is not worth his protection and is dedicated to protecting the Wu'an Sect alone. When Yang Yue asks if her actions are for Xie Xiao, she angrily retorts that a "lowly constable" like him cannot compare to Xie Xiao.

Hurt, Yang Yue understands she pushes him away because she can't let go of Xie Xiao. He then promises he will no longer bother her but will continue to protect her silently. For days, Lan Qingxuan has remained secluded in his room, poring over scriptures copied by his late apprentice, Xin. When Yuan Jinxia visits, she finds him heartbroken.

Lan Qingxuan explains that Xin was his only apprentice, a boy he took in after witnessing his grief over his parents' deaths, as he deeply empathized with the feeling of being alone. He laments their short time together and vows never to take another apprentice, as the pain of loss is too great. Hearing his sorrow, Yuan Jinxia feels guilty for having suspected him, but Lan Qingxuan kindly reassures her that caution is always wise.

The investigation yields no new leads on Master Yuanming or Slim-jim. As the group puzzles over the case, Lu Yi approaches, his mental state having regressed further. He asks Yuan Jinxia why she is with "them," not recognizing anyone else. Believing he can cure Lu Yi, Xie Xiao begins banging a gong next to his ear. As Yuan Jinxia and Gai Shu try to stop him, Lu Yi suddenly tugs on Yuan Jinxia’s sleeve and calls her "Sister."

Shocked, she asks his age, and Lu Yi innocently replies that he is eight. Stunned, Gai Shu furiously chases Xie Xiao for making things worse, while Lu Yi, frightened by the commotion, hides behind Yuan Jinxia. That night, a fierce thunderstorm rages. Yuan Jinxia is startled when Lu Yi appears in her room, terrified by the thunder. He explains that his mother used to comfort him during storms and pleads to sleep in her room.

Yuan Jinxia reluctantly agrees, and Lu Yi climbs into her bed, holding her hand for comfort. As she watches him sleep, she finds his childish demeanor endearing and playfully pinches his cheek. Her thoughts wander into a brief fantasy of teasing him before she snaps out of it, reminding herself he is just a child. The next morning, Xie Xiao bursts into Yuan Jinxia's room with her favorite scallion cakes.

Yuan Jinxia hastily tries to hide Lu Yi under the blanket, but he wakes up and leans his head on her shoulder, shocking Xie Xiao. To make matters worse, Lu Yi childishly reveals that Yuan Jinxia snores, grinds her teeth, and even talked in her sleep about wanting to "eat him." Enraged, Xie Xiao lunges at Lu Yi. The commotion draws Cen Fu, who rushes in to protect his master.

Amid the chaos, Lu Yi’s gaze falls upon scattered chess pieces on the floor, and his memories suddenly flood back. His expression shifts, his childlike demeanor gone. While the others continue to argue, oblivious to the change, Lu Yi silently slips away. He finds his way into Master Yuanming's room, where he discovers a secret passage behind a painting. Inside, he is examining alchemy tools when Master Yuanming enters.

Lu Yi instantly reverts to his childlike persona, feigning interest in the colorful objects. Relieved, Master Yuanming gently leads him out. Later, Master Yuanming returns to the secret chamber and opens an even more concealed room, confidently declaring that his "immortal pellet" is nearly complete. Back in their room, Yuan Jinxia playfully scolds Lu Yi for running off. However, when he calmly questions her for "punishing your superior," she realizes he has recovered.

Lu Yi confirms he regained his memories before entering Master Yuanming's room and instructs her not to tell anyone yet. As Yuan Jinxia mutters that she misses his cuter, childlike version, he asks what she said. Changing the subject, she asks if he now remembers who poisoned him.
