Chief Cen of the Chixiao Sect announced that Cang Jiumin had returned to the Barren Abyss and the Devil Palace was reactivated, signaling the imminent return of the Devil God. He condemned the Hengyang and Xiaoyao Sects for sheltering Cang Jiumin, thus causing this catastrophe. Declaring the immortal sects leaderless in the face of such a powerful enemy, he offered the Chixiao Sect to assume leadership. The Great Medicine Valley, the Resources Sect, and others pledged their support.

Chief Cen then ordered all sects to gather their disciples and converge on the Barren Abyss in three days to eliminate Cang Jiumin. Meanwhile, Si Ying and Jing Mie observed that the immortal sects now harbored an intense hatred for Cang Jiumin, leaving him no sanctuary outside the Devil Palace. Cang Jiumin was troubled by Chief Qu’s death and Li Susu’s injuries.

Si Ying and Jing Mie taunted him, pointing out that with Chief Qu dead and Li Susu unconscious, only Di Mian truly knew what happened. They informed Cang Jiumin that the immortal sects were convinced he had used the Sky-Slashing Sword to kill Chief Qu, stolen the evil bone from Li Susu, and fled to the Barren Abyss.

When Cang Jiumin confronted them about harming Li Susu, they denied it, claiming they would have abducted her too if they had known she possessed the evil bone. They then revealed their goal: to retrieve the evil bone and fuse it with him to revive the Devil God. From their words, Cang Jiumin deduced that Di Mian was the true culprit who killed Chief Qu with the Sky-Slashing Sword and stole the evil bone.

Si Ying and Jing Mie confirmed his deduction, urging him to abandon his past and accept his destiny as Tantai Jin, warning that everyone he loved would perish because of him, just as the Devil God had foretold—that his search for warmth and friendship would ultimately prove illusory. Realizing Li Susu had suffered terribly due to the evil bone and his connection to it, Cang Jiumin resolved not to be manipulated further.

He declared that if becoming the Devil God was his destined path, he would accept it, a decision welcomed by Si Ying and Jing Mie. Di Mian, recovering, mused that with Chief Qu dead and Cang Jiumin missing, the immortal sects were solely focused on eliminating the devil fetus, which allowed him to heal without disturbance. He recognized the immense power of the evil bone and the danger of absorbing it too quickly.

Now possessing both the evil bone and the Sky-Slashing Sword, he only needed to await the opportune moment to reclaim the Bone-refining Seal and the God-slaughtering Crossbow. He also worried that Li Susu might uncover his deception. Gongye Jiwu requested Di Mian to visit Li Susu, who was deeply saddened. Di Mian agreed, apprehensive that Li Susu might already suspect him.

Upon seeing him, Li Susu apologized for not visiting him first, to which Di Mian replied understandingly, acknowledging her sorrow over Chief Qu’s death. He then confirmed she was aware of the incident, expressing regret for failing to protect her and Chief Qu, and mentioning he too had been wounded. Li Susu, knowing Di Mian was the sole witness, pressed him for the full account.

Di Mian recounted a fabricated story: as he and Chief Qu were nearing the completion of the array, Cang Jiumin suddenly appeared, wielding the Devil God’s Sky-Slashing Sword. He purportedly attacked Chief Qu, then struck Di Mian unconscious, though Di Mian claimed to have vaguely seen Cang Jiumin casting a spell on Li Susu and taking a dark object from her. Li Susu, however, felt a pang of doubt.

She recalled Cang Jiumin had openly admitted to possessing the God-slaughtering Crossbow; it was unlikely he would conceal the Sky-Slashing Sword if he truly had it. She also questioned how anyone could have survived an attack from the Sky-Slashing Sword if Cang Jiumin had truly meant harm. She asked Di Mian to confirm if it was indeed the Sky-Slashing Sword, and he confidently asserted it was, drawing on his past as a demon leader.

Di Mian feigned regret for failing to protect Chief Qu, citing his helplessness and the inherent evil of the "devil fetus," which he now claimed he had misjudged. He then strongly advised Li Susu to sever all ties with Cang Jiumin and move on, lest she repeat his own perceived mistake. Afterward, he departed. Concerned for Li Susu's safety with Di Mian nearby, Cang Jiumin felt compelled to protect her.

Now acting with the authority of the Devil God, he confronted Si Ying and Jing Mie, questioning if they were the only demons serving him. He revealed that Di Mian had betrayed him 10,000 years ago by conspiring with the deities. He declared that Di Mian must return the evil bone and kneel before the Devil Palace to welcome his full restoration. Si Ying and Jing Mie readily pledged their allegiance.

Zhao You received a report from his disciples, confirming Cang Jiumin’s presence in the Barren Abyss, where Si Ying and Jing Mie treated him with deference, like a master. Zhao You, however, instructed his disciples to keep this information private, convinced that Cang Jiumin was executing his own strategy. He lamented that the shortsighted Chixiao Sect now dominated the immortal world and believed that only he and his disciples could maintain faith in Cang Jiumin’s intentions.

He then realized there was one more person who might share their trust. Li Susu brought medicinal salves to Di Mian, offering to tend to his wounds, having learned from Yaoguang that he was caring for them himself. She insisted, explaining that having lost one father, she felt a stronger duty to care for him. Di Mian reluctantly agreed. As Li Susu examined his injury, she recognized it as a wound inflicted by Chief Qu's sword techniques.

Anticipating her realization, Di Mian swiftly incapacitated her before she could voice her discovery. He then attempted to flee the Hengyang Sect. At that moment, Zhao You arrived, having received a pre-arranged message from Li Susu. Zhao You tried to capture Di Mian but was wounded by a sudden attack from Si Ying, who had appeared with Jing Mie.

This allowed Di Mian to escape, and Si Ying instructed Jing Mie to pursue him, as Di Mian was now determined to absorb the evil bone himself to keep it from the two demons. Injured and desperate to prevent the evil bone from falling into the hands of Si Ying and Jing Mie, especially now that they had located the Devil Palace, Di Mian decided to absorb it himself.

He forcibly consumed the evil bone, proclaiming himself the new Devil God. However, the Devil God’s voice echoed, informing him that all avaricious beings merely served as vessels for the evil bone, and Di Mian was now under its control. Meanwhile, Li Susu found the wounded Zhao You. He explained that Si Ying and Jing Mie had appeared during his fight with Di Mian, who subsequently escaped, and that the two demons were now also hunting for the evil bone.

Zhao You feared that Di Mian would now absorb the evil bone completely, making the situation irreversible. Concerned for Gongye Jiwu, Li Susu learned from Zhao You that he and other disciples had followed Chief Cen to the Barren Abyss, a mission Zhao You believed to be suicidal.

Recognizing the urgency, Li Susu and Zhao You decided to split up: Zhao You would intercept Gongye Jiwu, while Li Susu would pursue Di Mian to stop him from fully integrating the evil bone. Cang Jiumin gathered demons in the Barren Abyss and activated the Xiaoyao Sect’s Incarnation-Abandoning Array, intending to perish along with all the demons to prevent the Devil God’s advent. Si Ying and Jing Mie were ensnared, realizing it was an immortal sect spell.

The Devil God mocked Tantai Jin's suicidal act, assuring him that the destruction of a mere body would not hinder his return. Tantai Jin retorted, questioning why the Devil God felt the need to intervene if his power was truly absolute. As the array intensified, Cang Jiumin discovered a wisp of Ming Ye’s divine consciousness within the Heart-refining Scale, which Ming Ye explained was reawakened by Cang Jiumin’s refinement.

Cang Jiumin confessed his desire to sacrifice himself to prevent more deaths and protect everything dear to him, drawing a parallel to Ming Ye’s own protection of the Mohe River. Ming Ye revealed that after the ancient war, he had expended his divine power to leave the Bo’re Life at the bottom of the Mohe River, knowing the Devil God would seek a new devil fetus from the scattered evil bone.

He shared that Jize had foreseen Tantai Jin and Li Susu’s forms within his and Sang Jiu’s illusions. Ming Ye then imparted a crucial message: "Your death cannot prevent the Devil God's birth. Your life opens the path to the Devil God's demise." Guided by these words, Cang Jiumin abandoned the Incarnation-Abandoning Array. Having escaped the array thanks to a protective treasure, Si Ying and Jing Mie captured Cang Jiumin, completely stripping him of his cultivation and imprisoning him.

They then coerced Nian Baiyu into guarding Cang Jiumin, leveraging the fate of the Yiyue tribe, before departing to urgently retrieve the evil bone. While Nian Baiyu was watching him, a female demon attempted to consume the defenseless Cang Jiumin. Nian Baiyu bravely shielded his master, nearly sacrificing his own life.

Cang Jiumin, despite his weakened state, fought back against the female demon, who was astonished to find his blood possessed a unique quality that absorbed demonic energy, akin to the Devil God’s. Yet, she also detected a faint “sweetness and a warm feeling of sunshine” in his blood, setting him apart from the true Devil God. Nian Baiyu, burdened by guilt over his perceived betrayal, vowed to help Cang Jiumin escape.

Cang Jiumin acknowledged Nian Baiyu’s unwavering loyalty, recalling how Nian Baiyu had once risked his life to save him as a hostage prince and later helped him reclaim his throne. He also remembered Nian Baiyu saving him from a fire when he was distraught over Ye Xiwu, asserting that Nian Baiyu had forged his own destiny. Together, they planned their escape. As they neared the exit of the Barren Abyss, Jing Mie ambushed them.

To shield Nian Baiyu, Cang Jiumin feigned an attack, knocking Nian Baiyu into a deep chasm, making it seem as if Nian Baiyu was attempting to flee. Enraged by Cang Jiumin’s destruction of countless demons, Jing Mie attacked him. While Cang Jiumin dodged Jing Mie and Si Ying, Di Mian, now fully under the Devil God's control, appeared. He sought to absorb their demonic power.

Jing Mie bravely sacrificed himself to protect Si Ying, and his life force was completely drained. Di Mian, still possessed by the Devil God, continued to absorb Si Ying's power before leaving. Cang Jiumin realized that the Devil God-controlled Di Mian was undoubtedly headed to the Devil Palace to unleash the All-in-Distress Way, prompting him to rush to warn the immortal sects.

Stripped of his cultivation, Cang Jiumin triggered the Vigilant Bells surrounding the Barren Abyss, hoping to alert immortal sect disciples to his location so they would rush to his aid. Unbeknownst to him, Chief Cen, having detected Cang Jiumin’s presence, had instead mobilized the immortal sects to activate the Demon Subduing Form, trapping Cang Jiumin. Cang Jiumin cried out, asking why no one was coming and urging them to stop Di Mian before it was too late.

Although some Hengyang Sect disciples wished to capture Cang Jiumin alive, Gongye Jiwu, now under Chief Cen’s influence, concurred with Chief Cen that Cang Jiumin, as Tantai Jin and the devil fetus, was beyond redemption. Chief Cen openly stated his intention to utterly annihilate Cang Jiumin, avenging his son’s death.

Gongye Jiwu, despite his former close relationship with Cang Jiumin, coldly asserted that "there was never anything called Cang Jiumin," only the devil fetus who had infiltrated their sect to steal the evil bone. Together, they vowed to "kill the devil fetus now." Di Mian, controlled by the Devil God, reached the entrance of the Devil Palace. The Devil God commanded him to open the gate and initiate the All-in-Distress Way, marking the final stage of his grand scheme.

Meanwhile, Mo Nv arrived at the Barren Abyss and discovered her sister, Si Ying, deceased. Overcome with sorrow, she used her demonic power to uncover the truth: Si Ying had been killed by Di Mian, who was acting under the complete control of the Devil God. Mo Nv swore to avenge her sister’s death.
