Till the End of the Moon Episode 28 Recap
> Till the End of the Moon Recap
After Tantai Jin received the threatening letter from Tantai Minglang, he rushed back, only to find that Pian Ran had already died. Tantai Minglang had previously received Ruo Water from Fu Yu, which greatly enhanced the power of his puppet soldiers. With these forces, Tantai Minglang unleashed a brutal massacre on the city's civilians, turning the streets into chaos.
He had vowed to repay Tantai Jin for all his suffering and to avenge Fu Yu by destroying everything Tantai Jin cherished. Upon learning of the massacre, Ye Xiao, reflecting on his powerlessness during the fall of Sheng Kingdom, felt a strong obligation to protect the innocent.
He declared himself a loyal and just man, believing that regardless of their former kingdoms, all people were now citizens of a unified nation and he could not stand by while they were slaughtered. He instructed his son, Ye Zeyu, to take Chuntao and flee from the east gate. However, Ye Zeyu, asserting his identity as a man of the Ye family, insisted on fighting alongside his father to protect the people.
Before leaving, Ye Xiao told Chuntao to take care of herself, as the Ye family might no longer be able to. Together, Ye Xiao and Ye Zeyu bravely joined the fight against the demonically controlled rebels. Meanwhile, Tantai Minglang infiltrated the imperial palace, demanding to be led to Ye Bingchang and Ye Xiwu, threatening to kill any servant who resisted.
Tantai Jin returned to a city filled with the bodies of massacred civilians, who had been infused with Spirit Fire by Tantai Minglang as a deliberate act of intimidation. He was heartbroken to discover that Ye Xiao and Ye Zeyu had fallen in battle while defending the people. Seeing the devastation and remembering Tantai Minglang's cruel promise, Tantai Jin swore to kill him.
Tantai Jin rushed to the palace gate, where he found Tantai Minglang holding Ye Xiwu and Ye Bingchang captive. Knowing his defeat was inevitable, Tantai Minglang, filled with vengeful spite, forced Tantai Jin to choose one woman to save, stating that the other would be buried with him in death. Tantai Jin, his powers severely depleted from the battle in the Southern Border, knew he only had one chance to act.
Recalling that the Yin-Yang Twin Bracelets could protect Ye Xiwu as long as he, the wearer of the Yang bracelet, lived, he made a difficult decision. He ordered Tantai Minglang to release Ye Bingchang, resolving that even if Ye Xiwu hated him, he would do anything to keep her alive. Ye Xiwu, witnessing this, mistakenly believed Tantai Jin had chosen to save Ye Bingchang, leading her to conclude that she no longer owed him anything.
Tantai Minglang, misinterpreting her perceived indifference as a lack of value in Tantai Jin's eyes, moved to kill Ye Xiwu. However, Tantai Jin swiftly unleashed a flock of crows, striking down and killing Tantai Minglang. With Tantai Minglang defeated, Ye Xiwu successfully cultivated her divine essence, and the formidable lightning tribulation began to descend. Tantai Jin sensed the approaching danger and immediately flew to the city wall to shield her.
There, he discovered the World-overturning Jade embedded in Ye Xiwu's left eye. Ye Xiwu revealed that she had exchanged her own left eye for the jade from him, explaining that she couldn't bear to see him so pitiful and near death from the curse. She had taken on the curse of the World-overturning Jade herself, and now it was coming to fruition upon her. Tantai Jin refused to believe this.
Ye Xiwu warned him that with his mortal body, he could not withstand her lightning tribulation. Tantai Jin demanded to know why she had acted so self-sacrificingly for him. Ye Xiwu then revealed his true nature, telling him he was the Devil God, the greatest curse in the world, born with the burden of all beings' karma and an evil bone, destined to become the new Devil God who would destroy heaven and earth.
Tantai Jin vehemently denied these claims, but Ye Xiwu pressed on, asking why he was born with loneliness, weak family ties, and no love threads, and why demons feared his blood. She then revealed her true identity: she was not Ye Xiwu, but a deity from the immortal sect. Her purpose in becoming his wife was to reverse this dark destiny and save the world he was fated to destroy.
She showed him visions of a future where his demon form had annihilated the immortal sect, leaving no immortal bone in the Three Realms and Four Continents. Tantai Jin vehemently rejected this vision, insisting he didn't know those people and hadn't killed them. He questioned if she truly believed him to be so evil and unworthy of her trust.
Ye Xiwu responded that she could not gamble the fate of all living beings on the faint possibility of a trace of goodness in the Devil God's heart; it was a risk she couldn't afford. Tantai Jin, heartbroken by her words, declared that he was not the Devil God and would never let her leave him, even if it meant his soul shattering and his death under the lightning tribulation.
Ye Xiwu, however, dismissed his words, stating that he had always been merely a target of her mission. She recounted how she had inflicted six soul-slaying spikes upon him and endured the pain of the World-overturning Jade. Now, she announced, she was taking his evil bone and giving him her divine essence in return, ensuring he would no longer become the Devil God. They would be even, and he would not be able to keep her.
Ye Xiwu declared her hatred for Tantai Jin was as deep as his for her. With heaven as her witness, she offered her body, primordial spirit, and everything she had, to exchange her divine essence for his evil bone. Her final wish was that they would never meet again across all future transmigrations. Tantai Jin desperately tried to pull her back, pleading that he didn't want her essence and was willing to live with her hatred forever.
But as the lightning descended, the Yin-Yang Twin Bracelets shattered, and Ye Xiwu tragically fell to her death. Tantai Jin was devastated, refusing to accept that she had abandoned him. He carried her lifeless body back to the palace, reliving their cherished memories, including her confession of love and his own promises to stay by her side. He recalled how she had brought light into his dark and lonely life. Overwhelmed by grief, he collapsed in the palace.
In his dreams, Tantai Jin searched for Ye Xiwu in her ruined room. He called out for her, remembering her promise to always stick by him. A demonic voice tormented him, asserting that Ye Xiwu was dead and had forever escaped him, even choosing death to do so.
The voice declared that everyone around Tantai Jin would leave him, hate him, and willingly die to break free from his destructive influence, reminding him that his hands were stained with her blood and he was destined to live alone. Tantai Jin fiercely denied these claims. He awoke in a frantic state, still desperate for Ye Xiwu. He found her body preserved in a Ruo Water Ice Coffin.
He tried to speak to her, begging her to wake up, desperately believing the shattered bracelets could still save her. Realizing his efforts were in vain, he resolved that if he couldn't save her, he would die with her. He brought her body to a different location, saying it was too cold outside and he would take her home.
Later, a recovering Ye Qingyu visited Tantai Jin, finding that he had melted the original Ruo Water Ice Coffin to create a new one, intending to be eternally sealed with Ye Xiwu "like a piece of amber." A servant warned Ye Qingyu that Tantai Jin, a living person, would eventually freeze to death in the coffin. Ye Qingyu broke open the coffin and attempted to pull Tantai Jin out.
Tantai Jin furiously resisted, demanding to know how Ye Qingyu dared to interfere. Ye Qingyu retorted that Tantai Jin was courting death and preventing Ye Xiwu from leaving the world with dignity. Tantai Jin insisted that Ye Xiwu was his wife, his queen, and belonged with him. Ye Qingyu challenged him, asking if he would try to stop him from taking her away.
He confronted Tantai Jin, reminding him that Ye Xiwu might have loved him, but he had used her to kill Xiao Lin and tortured her to the point where she chose death as an escape. He accused Tantai Jin of hating her so much that he still sought to trap her. Tantai Jin, in denial, claimed he didn't hate her; she was the only one who had ever been good to him, the only one who had loved him. Ye Qingyu, seeing no other option, simply asked Tantai Jin to let his sister go, but Tantai Jin refused.
