The Untamed Episode 47 Recap
> The Untamed Recap
Wei Wuxian, concerned about Wen Ning's future, jokingly suggested to Lan Wangji finding him a suitable female cultivator from the Lan clan, or at least helping him make friends, mentioning Sizhui as a possible candidate. Lan Wangji dismissed the teasing. Given Wen Ning's unique situation, Wei Wuxian advised him to return to the inn for rest, as being in the bustling street was inconvenient.
He assured Wen Ning that he and Lan Wangji would proceed to investigate the address found on Jin Guangyao's title deed. Upon arrival, they discovered the address led to a Guanyin Temple. Lan Wangji immediately sensed a magic circle within, indicating something was being suppressed. Wei Wuxian noted that Jin Guangyao wouldn't have hidden this address for nothing. Lan Wangji confirmed the formation was difficult to break and advised waiting until nightfall when no one was around.
As they prepared to leave, they overheard a temple Master informing a visitor that the temple would be closed for three days for renovations. Wei Wuxian found this unusual, questioning the Master about a temple located in a noisy city rather than a quiet mountain, and noting that the Master hadn't even been ordained.
The Master explained that city dwellers, burdened by daily life, needed such a place for solace and prayer, adding that Guanyin, who saves all beings, would not be disturbed by the commotion. As night fell, Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, and Wen Ning returned to the Guanyin Temple, discovering a protective ward had been erected. Wei Wuxian instructed Wen Ning to remain outside as a lookout, with a contingency plan to seek out Jiang Cheng in Yunmeng if they didn't emerge.
He emphasized that this was a precaution, relying on Lan Wangji's presence even if he himself proved ineffective. They scaled the wall and saw numerous Jin clan disciples poised for action, with Lan Xichen among them. To their surprise, Jin Ling approached the temple, accompanied by Fairy. Wei Wuxian immediately quieted Fairy, concerned its barking would alert everyone. Jin Ling called out, demanding entry, but received no response.
As Jin Ling began to climb the wall, Jin clan disciples drew their bows, ready to fire. Lan Xichen intervened, ordering them not to harm Jin Ling. Seeing Jin Ling in danger, Wei Wuxian threw his flute to deflect the barrage of arrows, enabling Jin Ling to escape. This act, however, exposed Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, forcing them to confront the armed disciples inside the temple.
Jin Guangyao, already prepared for their arrival, swiftly used a thin qin string to ensnare Wei Wuxian by the neck. With Wei Wuxian held captive, Lan Wangji was forced into inaction. Lan Xichen then stepped forward, expressing shame and regret. He confessed that he had been completely deceived by Jin Guangyao, fallen into his trap, and consequently lost all his spiritual power, rendering him useless. Wei Wuxian, ever sharp-tongued, retorted that deceiving others was, after all, Jin Guangyao's specialty.
Jin Guangyao then questioned Wei Wuxian on how he discovered the temple's location. Wei Wuxian reminded him about the large title deed hidden alongside Red Blade Master's head in the secret chamber of Fragrance Hall, prompting Jin Guangyao to admit his oversight in not separating them. Upon hearing this, Lan Xichen's expression darkened, finally forced to believe that Jin Guangyao was indeed responsible for Nie Mingjue's death.
Wei Wuxian, still pressing, inquired about the "treasure" being suppressed within the temple, to which Jin Guangyao cryptically warned about the high price of satisfying such curiosity. Moments later, Jin Ling was apprehended and brought back by Jin Guangyao's subordinates. He greeted Jin Guangyao as his uncle. Jin Guangyao, while acknowledging him, curtly questioned his presence. After Jin Ling retorted, Jin Guangyao callously ordered his subordinates to pursue and kill Fairy, reasoning that the intelligent dog could attract unwanted attention.
Jin Ling, aghast, protested that Fairy was a gift from Jin Guangyao himself. Jin Guangyao, unfazed, warned Jin Ling that any further disruption would lead to dire consequences. Meanwhile, Jin Guangyao urged his men to accelerate their digging inside the temple. Wei Wuxian speculated they were searching for a tunnel, the Stygian Tiger Amulet, or the suppressed item itself.
Jin Guangyao, clearly orchestrating a grand scheme, then gloated about being close to witnessing another "good show," reminiscent of the past conflict between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. He provocatively challenged Lan Wangji to draw his sword, asking if he truly intended to kill Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian quickly urged Lan Wangji not to listen, assuring him he bore no blame and instructing him to seek reinforcement.
However, Jin Guangyao escalated his demands, first ordering Lan Wangji to sheathe Bichen, then to seal his own spiritual power. Despite Wei Wuxian's protests against Jin Guangyao's "demanding too much," Lan Wangji, after a brief moment of internal conflict, complied. As rain began to fall, Jin Guangyao invited everyone inside the temple for shelter, assuring them no harm would come as long as they cooperated.
Wei Wuxian, moved by Lan Wangji's actions, told him he didn't need to go to such lengths, stating Lan Wangji owed him nothing. Lan Wangji simply responded that he didn't feel indebted but that his actions were "what he should do." The tense standoff was interrupted by the arrival of Su She, who entered the temple dragging a visibly unconscious Nie Huaisang.
Su She casually explained he had encountered Nie Huaisang on his way and deemed him "useful," so he brought him along, claiming he had merely "scared him unconscious" and instructed his subordinate to be gentle, noting Nie Huaisang's fragility. Lan Xichen immediately demanded to know why Nie Huaisang was held captive.
Jin Guangyao calmly stated that having "one more clan leader" as leverage would only increase their advantage, and reassured Lan Xichen that he would release them unharmed when the time was right. Lan Xichen, however, expressed his skepticism, which Jin Guangyao simply dismissed, pointing out Lan Xichen had no choice but to accept the situation. Su She then approached Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, gloating about their reversal of fortune.
Wei Wuxian, ever defiant, retorted that it was Jin Guangyao who was now desperate, digging for valuables as if preparing to flee. Su She mocked Lan Wangji's composure, accusing him of maintaining a "self-important" demeanor. Wei Wuxian defended Lan Wangji, clarifying that his cold expression was directed at everyone, not just Su She, and cheekily reminded Su She of the Lan clan's prohibition against arrogance, suggesting Su She was familiar with it from his past punishments.
Wei Wuxian then taunted Su She further by proudly recalling his own childhood confidence as a "prodigy" who never hesitated to proclaim his talent. As Su She prepared to attack, Wei Wuxian warned him against harming Lan Wangji, cautioning that it would displease Jin Guangyao, who held Lan Xichen in high regard. Su She sneered, calling Wei Wuxian afraid of death.
Wei Wuxian corrected him, articulating the nuanced difference between "not being afraid of death" and "not wanting to die," asserting "My destiny is up to me and loss and gain don't concern me." Before Su She could strike, a commotion erupted outside. Jiang Cheng burst into the temple, calling out to Jin Ling and then urging Fairy to attack Su She. Jiang Cheng engaged Jin Guangyao, who warned him about his "music" attacks.
Jin Guangyao conceded to Jiang Cheng's superior "lethality" in their brief exchange, then tried to distract him by questioning how he found the temple, implying Jin Ling's wandering and Fairy's guidance led him there, and noting Fairy's loyalty to Jin Ling over himself. Wei Wuxian commented that Jin Guangyao's manipulative words were akin to Xue Yang's. Jin Guangyao then pointed out Jiang Cheng's avoidance of eye contact, asserting that Jiang Cheng didn't even want to look at his "senior brother."
Wei Wuxian tried to warn Jiang Cheng not to engage with Jin Guangyao, knowing his manipulative tactics. Jin Guangyao continued to taunt, suggesting that being Wei Wuxian's senior brother was difficult. Wei Wuxian countered that being Jin Guangyao's senior brother was even harder. Jin Guangyao then shifted his focus, bringing up a recent incident in Lotus Cove where Jiang Cheng reportedly caused a scene, carrying Wei Wuxian's old sword, Suibian, and asking others to draw it.
Wei Wuxian was visibly startled, wondering how Suibian came to be with Jiang Cheng and why he would ask others to draw it. He sought answers from Lan Wangji, who simply urged him to calm down. Jin Guangyao pressed on, detailing how no one could draw the sword, yet Jiang Cheng had, which was peculiar given Suibian had been sealed for sixteen years and only the Yiling Patriarch could draw it. Jiang Cheng furiously told Jin Guangyao to shut up.
Jin Guangyao then lauded Jiang Cheng as the youngest clan leader who rebuilt Lotus Cove, but provocatively questioned how he achieved such a rapid "catch up" after the Sunshot Campaign, implying he had gained a "golden core panacea." Jiang Cheng froze in shock, allowing Jin Guangyao to seize the moment and wound him. Wei Wuxian urged Fairy to escape. Simultaneously, Jin Guangyao's subordinates reported having finally unearthed the treasure. Jiang Cheng, now injured, was advised to sit down.
Wei Wuxian, realizing the implication, turned to Jiang Cheng, asking if he knew when Wen Ning had revealed the truth. Jiang Cheng, furious, confirmed that Wen Ning had indeed told him while Wei Wuxian was unconscious, adding that Wen Ning had felt very apologetic about it, despite Wei Wuxian repeatedly instructing him not to speak of it.
