Many years ago, the Demon King, Li Xiu, cultivated a secret magic in an attempt to rule the world. During his cultivation, he accidentally fell into obsession and injured his son, Li Chenlan. The malevolent secret magic invaded Li Chenlan's body, causing his demonic power to grow daily. Fearing that the evil power would corrupt Li Chenlan's nature, Li Xiu confined his son in a mountain, sealing him.

He then commanded his subordinates, the Lu clan, to guard this seal, ensuring that outsiders could not enter and those within could not leave, until his return. In a desperate attempt to find a method to eliminate the evil power, Li Xiu ventured overseas alone, but he was never seen again. The enduring seal caused the mountain to be filled with evil miasma, preventing any plants from growing, and thus, people came to call it the Sealed Evil Mountain.

Lu Zhaoyao, a lively young girl, had grown up in the Sealed Evil Mountain, serving as a member of the Lu clan. She and her grandfather had guarded the seal for years. The mountain's barrenness and isolation left Lu Zhaoyao so bored that she decided to catch a wild pig for a pet, only to roast it for dinner when it proved too noisy.

One day, while hunting, she inadvertently approached the mountain's seal, immediately drawing a stern rebuke from her grandfather. Lu Zhaoyao despised the seal for isolating them from the outside world and grew curious about Li Chenlan. She mused that he must be incredibly bored after so many years inside, but her grandfather simply reiterated her duty to guard the seal. Still, Zhaoyao pressed him, asking if the Demon King’s son ate, spoke to anyone, or suffered within.

Her grandfather tersely told her she could ask Li Chenlan herself once he was released. Unbeknownst to them, as they walked away, the seal on the mountain cave gradually weakened, and Li Chenlan began to stir. Later, as Lu Zhaoyao was complaining about her noisy piglet, the mountain suddenly shook violently. She realized someone had breached the seal. Her grandfather instructed her to stay put and rushed off to investigate.

Outside the cave, Gold Deity Luo Mingxuan of the righteous sects was breaking the seal, inadvertently awakening Li Chenlan inside. Luo Mingxuan entered the cave, intending to eliminate the Demon King's son. Though Li Chenlan had been dormant for many years and was oblivious to the world, his innate will to survive caused his internal demonic power to erupt, knocking Luo Mingxuan to the ground.

Seeing Luo Mingxuan injured, Li Chenlan felt a fleeting reluctance to harm him further and seized the opportunity to escape the cave. Luo Mingxuan, gravely wounded and horrified that his own rashness had allowed the Demon King's son to escape, was filled with fear. When Lu Zhaoyao's grandfather arrived, he discovered the seal broken and Li Chenlan gone. He was overjoyed, believing that the long-standing duty of his clan had finally ended.

Upon learning that Luo Mingxuan had ventured into the Sealed Evil Mountain alone, Lady Changyu, a respected sect leader, grew extremely anxious and made arrangements to seek help for a rescue. Meanwhile, Luo Mingxuan, injured by Li Chenlan's demonic power, lay by a path until he was discovered by a passing Lu Zhaoyao. Having lived deep in the mountains her entire life, Zhaoyao had never seen a man from the outside world.

Captivated by Luo Mingxuan's handsome appearance, she became immediately infatuated. Unable to take the stranger home for fear of her grandfather's questions, she found a hidden spot to care for him in secret. When Luo Mingxuan finally awoke, he was met with Lu Zhaoyao's enamored gaze. Lu Zhaoyao, utterly smitten, boldly asked Luo Mingxuan to marry her, which startled him. Recognizing her harmless nature and innate sincerity, he gently explained his reluctance to marry.

Elsewhere, Li Chenlan found himself adrift in a market, penniless. His body was covered in blue scars from the demonic power, making him appear grotesque to others. When he tried to take some food, he was severely beaten by other beggars. Afterwards, one of them contemptuously tossed him a single moldy bun. To win Luo Mingxuan's affection, Lu Zhaoyao, who had never adorned herself, began to learn how to dress up.

Luo Mingxuan, discovering that she had never left the mountain, kindly used his remaining magical energy to project illusions of the outside world’s landscapes and lotus flowers for her. Lu Zhaoyao felt even more strongly that Luo Mingxuan was a good person, willing to converse with her unlike others who treated her like a demon. Luo Mingxuan told her that she was untainted by worldly corruption and possessed a pure heart.

This reinforced Lu Zhaoyao's resolve to become a righteous person like Luo Mingxuan, venturing out to do good in the world. Qin Qianxian, the senior disciple of the Dust Pavilion, was renowned for his detachment from worldly affairs and his unparalleled beauty. Lady Changyu, deeply concerned for Luo Mingxuan's safety, traveled to the Dust Pavilion to seek the Chief's help, but the Chief was in secluded retreat.

Acknowledging the connection between their sects, Qin Qianxian offered his assistance in the rescue. At the same time, under Lu Zhaoyao's diligent care, Luo Mingxuan's injuries healed, and he decided it was time to leave. Though Lu Zhaoyao was reluctant to see him go, she could only force a smile as she watched him depart.

As Luo Mingxuan departed, he passed through the mountain's magical barrier, which gave Lu Zhaoyao a glimpse of the outside world—a fresh, new place where Luo Mingxuan now was. After witnessing the world beyond, Lu Zhaoyao was no longer content to remain in the desolate Sealed Evil Mountain. She made a firm decision: she would go out into the world to find Luo Mingxuan.

Simultaneously, Qin Qianxian and his companions were searching for a way into the mountain when Luo Mingxuan emerged from the barrier. Luo Mingxuan informed them that he had inadvertently allowed Li Chenlan to escape, describing the terrifying blue scars on his face and asserting that he could be easily tracked. Back on the mountain, Lu Zhaoyao's grandfather, recognizing her growing desire to leave but fearing her impulsive nature would lead to hardship, wrestled with his emotions.

Lu Zhaoyao's grandfather sighed as he gazed at the belongings left by her parents, musing that a child, once grown, should be allowed to fly freely. He resolved to earnestly teach Lu Zhaoyao martial arts to protect her once she left the Sealed Evil Mountain. After Li Chenlan escaped, he was quickly pursued by the righteous sects based on Luo Mingxuan's description. Lacking martial arts skills, Li Chenlan was swiftly apprehended.

Upon receiving the news, Luo Mingxuan used a scrying mirror to confirm Li Chenlan's identity. He immediately ordered his execution on the spot to prevent further complications, also demanding that the news be widely publicized to bolster his sect's prestige. Lady Changyu, hearing this, was surprised by his haste, wondering what he might have encountered in the Sealed Evil Mountain.
