Mai Chenghuan returned to the dilapidated old house and tried to persuade Liu Wanyu to return to Shanghai for further examination, but Liu Wanyu resolutely refused. Mai Chenghuan, out of frustration, decided to stay with her. Yao Zhiming went to a nearby supermarket to buy supplies and used the chance to call Mai Laitian. He felt that Liu Wanyu was in poor condition and urged him to come to the old house as soon as possible.

Liu Wanyu took Mai Chenghuan shopping and decided to buy some ready-made dishes. She deliberately chose the spiciest ones. Yao Zhiming couldn’t handle the heat, while Mai Chenghuan forced herself to eat. Liu Wanyu wanted to make things difficult so that Mai Chenghuan would give up, but she insisted on staying. Mai Laitian arrived that night with Mai Chengzao and Mao Mao.

Uncharacteristically, he blew up at Liu Wanyu and demanded she return for treatment, or else he would divorce her. Liu Wanyu agreed to divorce. Early in the morning, Mai Chenghuan called Liu Wanyu out for a walk. Meanwhile, Mai Chengzao, Yao Zhiming, Mao Mao, and Mai Laitian cleaned the old house thoroughly. Liu Wanyu went to cook. Mai Chengzao, anxious to return to Shanghai for the lawsuit, came to bid her farewell. Liu Wanyu recalled the past—because Mai Chenghuan was frail as a child, she decided to have another child and gave birth to Mai Chengzao, who brought blessings to the family.

Mai Chenghuan’s health gradually improved. Since both she and Mai Laitian were busy with work, they had to send Mai Chengzao to live with relatives in the countryside, where he suffered a lot. Liu Wanyu apologized repeatedly, but Mai Chengzao had already let it go. Mai Laitian thanked Yao Zhiming for staying, concerned it might affect his job.

Yao Zhiming said his work was already arranged and advised Mai Laitian to spend more time with Liu Wanyu to help her feel better. Early in the morning, Mai Chenghuan prepared breakfast. Mai Laitian got Liu Wanyu up and asked her to help pick a location to open a hotel after breakfast. Liu Wanyu took Mai Chenghuan, Yao Zhiming, and Mai Laitian out for a stroll in the fields. There, they ran into her childhood friend Aunt Wang.

When Aunt Wang’s ducks ran off, Yao Zhiming and Mai Chenghuan helped catch them. The scene made Liu Wanyu laugh, and she took a group photo with them. Yao Zhiming invited Liu Wanyu, Mai Chenghuan, and Mai Laitian to a fancy restaurant and ordered her favorite dish—fermented mandarin fish. Mai Laitian picked food for her, but Liu Wanyu could immediately tell the fish wasn’t fermented long enough. She recalled the Feng family's fermented mandarin fish she loved as a child.

Mai Chenghuan and Yao Zhiming immediately set out to find the old restaurant. After much effort, they found it, but it no longer served the dish.
