The Central Plains Sword Alliance was plunged into deep sorrow and panic following the death of its Sword Master, Shao Yanping (also known as Chi Yun). Rumors circulated that Gui Mudan, previously believed to be dead, was alive and that more people were falling victim to "evil pellets." Gui Mudan further fueled the unrest by spreading claims that Tang Lici and Liu Yan had colluded, using Liu Yan as bait to murder Shao Yanping.

Public sentiment quickly turned against Liu Yan, with many eager to see him apprehended. Seizing this opportunity, Xi Fangtao located Liu Yan, taking Xiaohong hostage to coerce Liu Yan into returning to the Sword Alliance. Though Liu Yan could have died in a mutual destruction, he chose to protect Xiaohong and agreed to accompany Xi Fangtao. Xi Fangtao's true motive was to use Liu Yan to undermine Tang Lici and thereby secure her own position as the new Sword Master.

She viewed Liu Yan's perceived heinous crimes as a prime chance to ascend. As the day for Shao Yanping's burial approached, with all Sword Alliance disciples set to attend, Xi Fangtao meticulously planned to frame Tang Lici if he dared to appear, intending to have him condemned by the masses. Zhong Chunji, Shao Yanping's only disciple, was aware of Xi Fangtao's sinister intentions.

Dressed in mourning clothes, she instructed her subordinates to expedite the closing of the coffin, silently praying that Tang Lici would not come. Meanwhile, Shen Langhun, who was being held captive in the Thirteenth Floor due to Hui Niang's body and threatened by Fang Pingzhai with precious pearls, learned of Tang Lici's precarious situation and resolved to escape and offer his aid.

Despite the warnings and the mounting accusations, Tang Lici arrived at the solemn funeral ceremony, clad in black and solemn-faced, to pay his respects to Shao Yanping, fully aware of Gui Mudan's malicious schemes. After Shao Yanping's coffin had just been sealed, Tang Lici slowly opened it to take a final look at his friend, discovering that Shao Yanping had died from the "Wang Sheng Pu" technique.

In front of the assembled crowd, Xi Fangtao immediately accused Tang Lici, asserting that the wounds on Shao Yanping could only have been inflicted by a technique Tang Lici knew. Tang Lici, having mourned, swiftly struck Xi Fangtao, forcing her to reveal that she, too, possessed knowledge of that very technique and had learned the "Huan Xin Jing," confirming her alliance with Gui Mudan.

Xi Fangtao's accomplices within the Sword Alliance quickly provided her with alibis, and Zhong Chunji, having a compromising secret held against her, was unable to refute Xi Fangtao's slanders. Xi Fangtao then twisted facts, publicly declaring Tang Lici to be "Yi Que Yin Yang" and Gui Mudan's master, and falsely claiming Liu Yan was dying in her custody. To save Liu Yan, Tang Lici swiftly departed, unknowingly providing Xi Fangtao with a perfect opportunity to further implicate him.

Tang Lici faced numerous obstacles as he searched for Liu Yan, battling and eliminating individuals disguised as Sword Alliance members who tried to impede his progress. Eventually, Xi Fangtao appeared with a formidable group of Sword Alliance members, vehemently accusing Tang Lici of being Gui Mudan's master. Yu Furen and several other Sword Masters, convinced by the sight of the deceased disguised attackers, joined forces to confront Tang Lici.

Fortunately, Shen Langhun and Xue Xianzi arrived just in time, exerting all their strength to rescue both Liu Yan and Tang Lici from harm. Liu Yan, feigning severe injury, urged Tang Lici to escape the perilous situation, but Tang Lici saw through the ruse and playfully teased him about his unchanging acting skills. They shared a smile, reminiscent of their carefree days at Zhou Di Lou. However, Liu Yan suddenly coughed up blood.

Tang Lici quickly checked his pulse, discovering a malevolent force violently consuming Liu Yan from within. Recalling joyful memories with Fang Zhou and Zhumei, Liu Yan pointed at the moon, happily declaring he was "going home," and then died in Tang Lici's arms, leaving Tang Lici heartbroken. Prior to his final moments, Liu Yan had informed Tang Lici that he had entrusted the antidote formula to Xiaohong.

Following these events, Xi Fangtao, now acting as Sword Master, officially declared Tang Lici to be "Yi Que Yin Yang" and dispatched martial artists from across the land to hunt him down. Tang Lici, overwhelmed by grief for both Liu Yan and Shao Yanping (Chi Yun), retreated to the bottom of a cliff.

There, he continuously caressed the memorial tablets of Chi Yun and Liu Yan, replaying memories of Shao Yanping's nagging, immersed in sorrow and helplessness over the loss of his dear friends.
