Whispers of Fate Episode 37 Recap
> Whispers of Fate Recap
Prior to the official Sword Master selection assembly, Shao Jianzhu repeatedly urged Tang Lici to focus on the election, but Tang Lici prioritized eradicating the manufacturing sites of evil pills. Meanwhile, Xi Fangtao actively sought votes and plotted against Tang Lici. Xi Fangtao approached Zhong Chunji, leveraging her knowledge of Zhong Chunji's fake princess identity and a butterfly tattoo, reminiscent of how Liu Yan once manipulated Zhong Chunji against Tang Lici.
Xi Fangtao blackmailed Zhong Chunji, demanding her vote in the election. She offered enticing benefits, including sharing power where Zhong Chunji would manage the palace and Xi Fangtao the Sword Association if Tang Lici was defeated, ensuring no one could threaten them. Xi Fangtao even solemnly promised to cast her own vote for Zhong Chunji to secure her cooperation. Xi Fangtao was confident Zhong Chunji would comply. After Xi Fangtao left, Tang Lici also met with Zhong Chunji.
He invited her to observe rosemary flowers, which are most beautiful as buds and only bloom at midnight, wilting once fully open. Zhong Chunji defiantly plucked a bud and forced it to bloom, revealing a poisonous bee that nearly stung her. Tang Lici swiftly eliminated the bee, subtly warning Zhong Chunji against overstepping boundaries due to greed, implying that perverse actions ultimately lead to failure.
He also lamented the absence of loyal individuals from the past, implicitly urging Zhong Chunji to act according to her conscience. During this time, Chi Yun's body began to suffer from poison, frequently causing him to become irritable and isolate himself. Rumors of his deep poisoning spread among Sword Association members. Tang Lici, struggling to find an antidote for "Scarlet Ghost Nine Heart Pills," began using his own blood daily to suppress Chi Yun's internal toxins.
Liu Yan, despite a severe headache, tirelessly researched the antidote. Shao Yanping, meanwhile, took a meticulously prepared prescription to Shen Po for guidance. Shen Po recognized the profound pharmacological knowledge behind the formula and agreed to try it, cautiously noting signs of eavesdropping after their discussion. The next day, Tang Lici brought his fresh blood to Liu Yan, deciding to add it to the prescription as a medicinal primer.
Liu Yan, seeing the severe toll frequent bloodletting took on Tang Lici, bandaged his wound, heartbroken at the thought of Tang Lici dying before him. However, Tang Lici also warned Liu Yan against rashly testing the medicine, as his body couldn't endure such strain. Despite their mutual concern, neither heeded the other's advice.
Tang Lici eventually fainted from blood loss, and in a dream, he conversed with an entity called Yi Que Yinyang, who urged him to cooperate on a significant matter. The Sword Master selection assembly officially began voting, with Tang Lici initially late to the proceedings. As voting progressed, the numbers fluctuated significantly. At one point, Xi Fangtao had more votes.
Later, Tang Lici held a significant lead, but Jiang Jianzhu and his disciples then collectively voted for Xi Fangtao, causing her to become the frontrunner. Tang Lici, despite his lateness, eventually brought in votes from Pu Zhu, an absent master, and Cheng Yunpao, bringing his vote count to a tie with Xi Fangtao, leaving only one final, crucial vote to decide the Sword Master.
Zhong Chunji, moved by Tang Lici's earlier words and choosing to embrace her true self rather than be manipulated, ultimately did not vote for Xi Fangtao. Instead, she transferred her votes to Tang Lici. Xi Fangtao was shocked but admitted she had anticipated such an outcome.
Zhong Chunji, now anxious about her fake princess identity being exposed, sought out her master, who had adopted her and taught her martial arts, finding herself unable to confess her wrongdoings due to his trust. With Zhong Chunji's crucial vote, Tang Lici became the Sword Association Master. However, Xi Fangtao did not cease her efforts, continuing to plot ways to overthrow Tang Lici. Chi Yun's condition worsened, leading him to faint. Shen Po and Tang Lici secretly treated him.
However, Jiang Jianzhu and Xi Fangtao, having heard rumors of Chi Yun's poisoning, suddenly burst into the room. Fearing harm to their colleagues, they publicly imprisoned Chi Yun without mercy and shackled him. Tang Lici visited Chi Yun in prison, reassuring him that he would find an antidote quickly. Chi Yun smiled bitterly, acknowledging the severity of his poisoning by his shackles, but tried to appear unconcerned to alleviate Tang Lici's worries. Xi Fangtao now openly suspected Chi Yun.
Meanwhile, Liu Yan, during an antidote trial, suddenly lost his sanity and became frenzied, almost harming Hong Guniang. Heartbroken by his suffering, Hong Guniang embraced him tightly to stop him from continuing the dangerous trials. Despite their efforts, Liu Yan and Shen Po had made no further progress on an antidote. To save Chi Yun, Tang Lici now plans to use Yi Que Yinyang's crystal combined with his own blood, hoping to turn the tide.
