Tang Lici returned to Zhou Di Tower, and memories from four years ago resurfaced. That day had been critical for Tang Lici and Fang Zhou's cultivation of the Rebirth Technique. They were deeply engrossed in their practice when Liu Yan unexpectedly returned. Liu Yan, having acquired a precious medicine from a masked man that allowed him to return early to save his senior brother, mistakenly believed Tang Lici was absorbing Fang Zhou's martial power.

He angrily confronted Tang Lici, grabbing his shoulder in an attempt to stop him. This intervention caused a backlash that destroyed Tang Lici and Fang Zhou's plan, leading Fang Zhou to vomit blood and turn pale. Tang Lici, realizing the rescue had failed, yelled at Liu Yan to let go, but Liu Yan remained convinced Tang Lici was harming Fang Zhou. Tang Lici pushed Liu Yan away, and the room exploded, sending Liu Yan flying outside.

After some time, Tang Lici regained consciousness and crawled to Fang Zhou, who was now unconscious. Overwhelmed by grief, Tang Lici cried out to Fang Zhou, pleading with him to wake up and speak, reminding him of his promise to live. As his Bone-Cleansing Silver Bracelet pulsed with light, Tang Lici remembered another way to save Fang Zhou. Without hesitation, he decided to transfer Fang Zhou's heart crystal into his own body for safekeeping.

However, as Tang Lici carefully opened Fang Zhou's abdomen to extract the heart crystal, Liu Yan, who had just recovered and was looking through the window, witnessed the scene. Shaking with rage, Liu Yan mistook Tang Lici's actions as murder, believing he had cruelly killed Fang Zhou, and then fainted once more. Tang Lici, speaking softly to the unconscious Fang Zhou, promised him to sleep tight and wait to be saved.

From a distance, Gui Mudan observed and remarked that Tang Lici was a "monster." Years later, Liu Yan found Tang Lici at Zhou Di Tower, a place laden with memories. Liu Yan expressed his long-standing hatred for Tang Lici but admitted that there was a period where his hatred wasn't as strong.

He also confessed his jealousy, feeling that despite his own abilities, Fang Zhou had chosen to trust Tang Lici with the Heart Moon's Return to Devotion technique and Zhou Di Tower, while Liu Yan, who had arrived earlier, felt overlooked. Tang Lici explained that Fang Zhou was inherently trusting; even knowing Tang Lici's hidden connections to Yique Yinyang, he still believed he could guide him.

He reflected on Fang Zhou's immense compassion, questioning if anyone could love the world and sacrifice for strangers as much as Fang Zhou did, recalling how Fang Zhou once brought a wounded tiger to heal at Zhou Di Tower, scaring away the children and even their cook, Fu. Both men reminisced about Fu's exceptional cooking, hoping to find him someday by sampling famous local cuisines.

Liu Yan then demanded to see Fang Zhou's body, stating he would give Tang Lici one last chance to earn his trust and return the power of the Rebirth Tome if proven true. Tang Lici led Liu Yan to a memorial he had built. He explained that he had used a Celestial Realm formation on the memorial to protect Fang Zhou, ensuring only those who knew the intricate, time-sensitive opening sequence, and possessed the Bone-Cleansing Silver Bracelet, could access it.

Inside, Tang Lici revealed his plan to revive Fang Zhou with Shui Duopo's help once Liu Yan returned the Rebirth Tome's power, as Shui Duopo would then extract Fang Zhou's heart crystal from Tang Lici's abdomen and return it to Fang Zhou's body. Liu Yan asked to see Fang Zhou one last time, to which Tang Lici agreed, but cautioned him not to stay too long.

As Tang Lici urged Liu Yan to seal the coffin, Liu Yan erupted in renewed fury. He accused Tang Lici of using lowly tricks and lies to deceive him repeatedly, especially now. Tang Lici, bewildered, cried out in disbelief upon seeing the coffin was empty, asking where Fang Zhou was and how this could be.

Liu Yan vehemently declared that Fang Zhou had died four years ago at Zhou Di Tower, his remains gone, and accused Tang Lici of continuing his deception. Tang Lici then questioned Liu Yan if he had told Gui Mudan about Fang Zhou. Realizing Gui Mudan must be Yique Yinyang himself to have opened the Celestial Realm formation, Tang Lici urged Liu Yan to team up to retrieve Fang Zhou's body.

Liu Yan denied telling anyone and insisted that even Gui Mudan could not have opened the array without the Bone-Cleansing Silver Bracelet. Scoffing at what he perceived as more lies, Liu Yan declared he would act alone, threatening to kill Tang Lici and send him to join Fang Zhou before storming off. Unbeknownst to them, Gui Mudan observed the unfolding drama, remarking that Tang Lici would not let him go.

He reveled in the chaos, noting how his scheme had created multiple layers of deception around Tang Lici, specifically regarding Fang Zhou's body and the "Inverted Dreams of Fang Pingzhai," ensuring neither Tang Lici nor Liu Yan could remain calm. Gui Mudan expressed his hope that Fang Zhou, upon his rebirth, would not blame him when he learned of Tang Lici's sacrifice.

Meanwhile, A Shui inquired about Tang Lici's whereabouts from Shui Duopo, who suggested Tang Lici was likely up to no good. A Shui then noticed a wooden puppet carved by Tang Lici, which Shui Duopo identified as being of Master Fang. Upon seeing the puppet's face, A Shui experienced a sudden rush of memories. She remembered her true identity as Fang Ci and realized that Fang Zhou was her brother.

This revelation, along with Gui Mudan's past words echoing in her mind—that Tang Lici was her brother's killer and had erased her memories to control her—left A Shui in emotional turmoil. She wrestled with a desire for revenge, but upon seeing Tang Lici return, distraught and lamenting that he had killed Fang Zhou, A Shui's resolve wavered, and she couldn't bring herself to confront him.

As the conflict escalated, Fengliu Inn launched another full-scale attack on the Central Plains Sword Assembly. Tang Lici, his mind consumed with vengeance for Fang Zhou, sought to eliminate Gui Mudan. Concurrently, Liu Yan, driven by his mistaken beliefs, dangerously cultivated a demonic art, pushing himself towards internal deviation with the sole aim of targeting Tang Lici. During the initial clashes, Pu Zhu was severely injured and poisoned.

Xi Fangtao arrived at the Central Plains camp, ostensibly to deliver an antidote for Pu Zhu's fire poison. Tang Lici, ignoring the warnings of his companions, directly confronted Xi Fangtao, demanding Gui Mudan's location. Xi Fangtao revealed that three days prior, Gui Mudan had acquired a coffin and intended to take it to the Pillar of Heaven in Sage Valley, a structure created by Yique Yinyang, presumably to place the coffin there.

This news electrified Tang Lici; if Gui Mudan had the coffin, it meant Fang Zhou was not truly dead, prompting Tang Lici to prepare for an immediate departure to the Pillar of Heaven. Observing Tang Lici's uncharacteristic impulsiveness and emotional volatility, Shen Langhun voiced his concerns. Tang Lici then confessed to Shen Langhun that Fang Zhou was not dead.

He explained that as Fang Zhou was taking his last breath, he had personally extracted Fang Zhou's heart crystal and implanted it within his own abdomen. Using his self-healing abilities, Tang Lici had continuously nurtured the heart crystal, purifying the evil energy left by Yique Yinyang. This arduous process, he revealed, was the cause of his chronic abdominal pain. When asked if Liu Yan knew of this sacrifice, Tang Lici simply stated that Liu Yan did not believe him.

Shen Langhun, now understanding the immense burden Tang Lici had secretly carried and Liu Yan's continued persecution, exclaimed that Tang Lici was truly a madman. Despite the ongoing battle, Tang Lici instructed Pu Zhu, whose injuries were severe, to return to the Central Plains Sword Assembly for treatment by Shui Duopo, assuring him he could return to the battlefield within seven days, a faster recovery than Xi Fangtao's injuries.

Tang Lici also asked Pu Zhu to inform the princess to send reinforcements, specifically General Yuchi, to Tongsha River. After receiving the crucial information, Tang Lici retaliated against Xi Fangtao for her earlier sneak attack on Pu Zhu, striking her with a palm. He explained that while her medicine repaid her debt to Pu Zhu, his strike was for her attack, leaving her with only thirty percent of her power for seven days but not threatening her life. He called this a "merciful" way to settle their scores. Xi Fangtao, acknowledging Tang Lici's precise calculation, agreed that it was fair and bid Pu Zhu farewell before leaving.
