Rush to the Dead Summer Episode 1 Recap
> Rush to the Dead Summer Recap
The birdsong and floral fragrance of early morning, accompanied by the gentle sunrise, made everything so peaceful and serene. In the classroom of Class 3, Senior Year, the teacher was conducting the final roll call. The melody of youth echoed in the classroom, yet it couldn't hide the students' inner regret and reluctance to part.
The homeroom teacher congratulated the students on completing the best coming-of-age ceremony of their high school years; now they had finally become free birds wanting to fly. The students couldn't suppress their reluctance to part with the teacher and were already crying in a heap. Li Xia and Fu Xiaosi brought a cake to offer blessings to the teacher, and everyone was immersed in the joy of graduation.
Farewell was imminent; while sadness was hard to hide, there was also anticipation for the future. The teaching building was filled with joyful songs, and as the afterglow of the setting sun faded, the graduation bell slowly began to toll. The evening lights were dim and quiet. Fu Xiaosi, Li Xia, and Lu Zhiang spoke of their innermost thoughts.
Fu Xiaosi hoped to attend the same university as Li Xia, and Lu Zhiang had also successfully made his own plans for the future. Cheng Qiqi bought sky lanterns. The group wrote their truest thoughts and most beautiful aspirations on the lanterns, entrusting their warmest original intentions to them, letting them slowly drift towards the unknown distance, marking a satisfying end to their high school era.
Back in their first year of high school, on the first day of school, Lu Zhiang and Fu Xiaosi raced on bicycles. Their brotherly bond was intimate and unbreakable; they were so cheerful under the sun. Seeing Fu Xiaosi far ahead of him, Lu Zhiang came up with a clever plan, seizing the opportunity to take a taxi to try and overtake him, but unexpected traffic jams halfway through thwarted his attempt.
In the quiet campus, Lu Zhiang and Fu Xiaosi were cycling too fast and almost collided with the new student, Li Xia. Fu Xiaosi braked in time but fell hard to the ground himself. Fortunately, Li Xia was safe and sound. Fu Xiaosi, with the air of a top student, lectured Li Xia, calling him clumsy. Li Xia felt bewildered. Cheng Qiqi was a genuine rich girl; her parents drove her to school in a luxury car.
Halfway there, Cheng Qiqi met her friend Li Xia and entered the halls of high school with him. The campus was full of new faces, permeated with the scent of youth and sunshine. In the dorm room, Li Xia was excitedly unpacking his luggage. He also thoughtfully distributed gifts to his new roommates. The broadcast announced the organization of the freshmen's opening ceremony, and everyone rushed to the sports field to gather.
The opening ceremony of Qianchuan No. 1 High School officially began. The principal spoke energetically on the podium, but his passionate speech, in Li Xia's eyes, was full of clichés. Below the stage, Cheng Qiqi and Li Xia were causing trouble. Their playful antics drew the displeasure of Li Xia's homeroom teacher, Teacher Wen Ren, who gave them a sharp look. Cheng Qiqi advised Li Xia to behave himself.
Fu Xiaosi went on stage to speak on behalf of the freshmen, and everyone cheered wildly for him. Fu Xiaosi suddenly realized he had taken the wrong speech manuscript. Recalling the morning, he realized he might have accidentally picked it up when he collided with Li Xia. Fu Xiaosi's face showed his embarrassment, but he still confidently strode onto the podium. Standing on the podium, looking at the huge crowd below, Fu Xiaosi, without his manuscript, seemed a bit flustered.
However, with his cool demeanor and brief, fluent speech, Fu Xiaosi's address earned a round of applause. After the opening ceremony dispersed, Li Xia anxiously chased after Fu Xiaosi, but was a step too late. The school leaders called Fu Xiaosi in for a talk, criticizing his unsatisfactory performance and punishing him by making him write a self-criticism report. Fu Xiaosi scoffed at the leaders' criticism and arrogantly walked out of the office.
Li Xia called out to Fu Xiaosi, wanting to explain about the manuscript to him, but Fu Xiaosi completely ignored Li Xia's presence. Cheng Qiqi and Li Xia came to the cafeteria together for a meal. Cheng Qiqi looked at the unappetizing food and, at the table, shared school gossip with Li Xia, kindly reminding him to be careful. Li Xia was curious about Fu Xiaosi's actions and asked Cheng Qiqi for her opinion.
Cheng Qiqi misunderstood, thinking someone was bullying Li Xia, and offered to help Li Xia get even. Li Xia was still puzzled by Fu Xiaosi's unique personality. The basketball court in the afternoon was so quiet. Li Xia, alone, felt the breeze, writing down his reflections on the first day of school in his notebook, completely forgetting about class time.
In the first high school class, Teacher Wen Ren immediately gave the students a stern warning, announcing new class rules in front of the entire class. Li Xia suddenly realized that class time had started and frantically rushed to the classroom to apologize to the teacher. Teacher Wen Ren didn't give Li Xia a chance to explain his tardiness and criticized him sternly.
Fu Xiaosi and Lu Zhiang were also late, but the teacher's attitude towards them was very kind, gently reminding them to be careful next time. This made Li Xia feel extremely embarrassed. Lu Zhiang and Fu Xiaosi were famous popular figures on campus, but Li Xia was completely unaware. His deskmate, Chen Wenjing, warmly greeted Li Xia and told him about Fu Xiaosi and Lu Zhiang's glorious history. Her fangirl demeanor was something Li Xia couldn't stand.
Lu Zhiang greeted Li Xia warmly, while Fu Xiaosi had a cold expression. Cheng Qiqi encouraged Li Xia to persist in his dream of painting and told him that the school's sketch studio was recruiting new members. Li Xia was touched by this. Back in his dorm room, Li Xia took out his collection of sketchbooks and admired each drawing in them.
The roommates' enthusiasm and generosity slowly brought them closer, as they each shared their hobbies and aspirations for the future. Li Xia's message for high school was that the thing he most wanted to achieve was to pick up his paintbrush again and pour all his emotions into his art. In the middle of the night, when his roommates were feeling unwell, Li Xia carefully looked after them.
The roommates' painful cries pierced through the entire dormitory; it was destined to be a restless night. Li Xia rushed to art class. Having not picked up a paintbrush for a long time, he felt a bit rusty. Li Xia accidentally dropped his paintbrush, only to see Fu Xiaosi drawing intently. Looking at Fu Xiaosi's passionate way of drawing, Li Xia felt a stir in his heart. Perhaps youth is full of such coincidences: Fu Xiaosi became Li Xia's front-row neighbor, and Li Xia became Fu Xiaosi's back-row seatmate.
