Ye Guoming dismisses her concerns, comparing her to her father, Jiang Qisheng, whose business failed because he chased quick profits instead of focusing on product development.
He accuses Jiang Hu of prioritizing sales and design for fast returns rather than genuinely improving the product, insisting that within the factory, she must follow his directives. Jiang Hu visits Song Jiali, who reveals she is resigning from Teng Yue next month. Jiang Hu expresses guilt, but Song Jiali reassures her that the decision is not entirely because of her, as she has reached retirement age and her daughter is pregnant.
She had planned to stay until a new sales director was found, but Xu Si has already hired a team of professionals, including a new managing director and marketing director. Believing in Jiang Hu's talent, Song Jiali encourages her and promises to stay in touch. Zhaoyang receives a call from her mother, Zhou Suqing, who is exhausted after viewing five rental properties and pressures her to make a decision. Still at work, Zhaoyang defers the conversation.
Meanwhile, Yang Jian is fishing while his friend Jiu complains about the strain of helping Zhou Suqing move. Yang Jian, having accepted their decision to move out, reflects on his decade-long relationship with Zhaoyang. He admits he never truly understood her or gained access to her inner world and concludes he must change his own habits and let go.
Later, Zhou Suqing urges Yang Jian to reconcile with Zhaoyang, emphasizing their family-like bond and asking him to tolerate her daughter's temper. Yang Jian calmly replies that Zhaoyang is strong and has always cared for her mother, even indulging her. He asserts they will be fine without him, as long as Zhou Suqing avoids causing more trouble.
Xu Si is now deeply involved in Teng Yue's operations, managing everything from human resources to the production line and exploring concepts like a Smart Shoe Production Line. Zhaoyang observes his hands-on approach and correctly infers that Aneda's personnel will not be joining Teng Yue in the near future.
Xu Si confirms his commitment, explaining that as someone who deeply hurt Jiang Hu, he feels he has no right to ask for forgiveness; instead, ensuring Teng Yue's success fulfills his initial promise to her and is the best form of closure for everyone. Zhaoyang notes they still cannot contact Jiang Hu, but Yang Jian has assured them she is well. Pei Zhiyuan finds Jiang Hu's apartment by following Song Jiali.
He arrives with new cotton bedsheets, knowing her preferences, and expresses frustration over how difficult she was to find. He harshly criticizes Xu Si as a ruthless traitor who forced Jiang Hu out and is now marginalizing him, an act he calls "kicking down the ladder." Pei Zhiyuan announces his plan to resign and join Jiang Hu at Cloud Footwear, confident they can repeat their past successes.
Jiang Hu bluntly rejects him, stating that Cloud Footwear already has enough older staff and that at nearly 65, he should retire. He persists, insisting he can still offer valuable advice. Jiang Hu meets a designer she admired at a Baoxing meeting. Noting he did not join his partner at Teng Yue, she proposes he design new styles for Cloud Footwear, showing him the current, poorly designed products.
The designer is intrigued and remarks on her enduring reputation in the industry. Jiang Hu also regularly visits Gao Yi's father, bringing him comfortable Cloud Footwear shoes. During one visit, Gao Yi expresses his happiness that she has returned to the industry. Jiang Hu confides in him about her struggles with the stubborn factory director and the lack of marketing funds.
Gao Yi offers to help by recommending her for "The Age of Entrepreneurship," a high-profile variety show connecting founders with investors, which would provide significant exposure. Jiang Hu gratefully accepts. While preparing for a store inspection with Zhaoyang, Xu Si encounters Jiang Hu and Gao Yi. Jiang Hu walks past without acknowledging him. At Cloud Footwear, Jiang Hu investigates the company's finances, trying to determine if design fees can be covered by the meager marketing budget. At his shop, Yang Jian has her try his new wonton noodles.
She tells him honestly that his talent is for wontons, not noodles, as some skills are innate. He then asks for her hoodie size and correctly guesses it's a medium, revealing he still pays close attention to her. Jiang Hu informs Ye Guoming she has registered Cloud Footwear for "The Age of Entrepreneurship." Ye Guoming is furious, viewing it as a personal insult since he already rejected Aneda's investment and believes the company is self-sufficient.
Jiang Hu explains her goal is to secure a prominent advertising spot for an upcoming e-commerce festival and that she will use her own connections, not the factory's budget. Disregarding his continued protests, she returns to her work. Separately, Xu Si is asked by his company to be a guest judge on the same show, humorously selected for his good looks to represent the firm. While reviewing the program materials, he is stunned to see Cloud Footwear listed as a participant and realizes Jiang Hu will be there.
