Rising With The Wind Episode 10 Recap
> Rising With The Wind Recap
Facing challenges with selling Teng Yue shoes, Jiang Hu found herself unable to rely on her friends and had to handle tasks like getting an old loudspeaker repaired herself. She dragged the heavy, Hong Kong-made unit from shop to shop, but no one could fix it. Meanwhile, Yang Jian brought wontons to his sister, Zhaoyang, who was staying at her workspace.
He suggested she come home and quit her job, but Zhaoyang refused, stating that being an adult meant accepting work regardless of personal happiness. Yang Jian left the food and a peeled orange before reluctantly departing. Returning to Teng Yue, Jiang Hu encountered Xu Si. He teased her for having time to deal with a loudspeaker when she had less than 25 days left on her deadline to sell 20,000 pairs of shoes.
Jiang Hu cheekily asked to borrow his luxury car, while Xu Si, noticing the old speaker, recalled his childhood hobby of dismantling electronics. He called a friend knowledgeable about Hong Kong audio equipment and, using parts from his own expensive new speaker, spent the night successfully repairing Jiang Hu's. The next day, Xu Si's aunt, Hong Die, visited and discovered a new jacket in his closet with the initials "X S" embroidered on the cuff.
She jokingly speculated he had a new, very thoughtful girlfriend, teasing him for being too focused on work and for his inability to keep houseplants alive. With the speaker fixed and Xu Si's car at her disposal, Jiang Hu began leading square dancing sessions for local elderly women. Her target distributor, Du Wenhua, joined the dancing and, impressed, agreed to discuss a deal.
Jiang Hu later explained her strategy to a skeptical Xu Si: she intended to leverage the dancers' extensive social networks to reach thousands of potential customers. Xu Si dismissed her optimism, warning that her problem wasn't solved. He theorized that Du Wenhua's difficult behavior might indicate he lacked the actual ability to sell the shoes, suggesting she might be pursuing the wrong person. He then persuaded her to discuss it further over a drink.
Later, Jiang Hu and several factory workers, including Zhang Sheng, waited late into the night for Du Wenhua. When he finally arrived, he confirmed his willingness to help but demanded a 200,000 yuan public relations fee, an amount the workers found outrageous. Elsewhere at the factory, other workers confronted the director, Pei Zhiyuan, about unpaid wages. Pei argued that they hadn't performed any work and would not be paid until production resumed, leading to a heated argument over labor rights.
Feeling the immense pressure, Jiang Hu confided in Yang Jian. Feeling he owed her, Yang Jian offered to feature the Teng Yue shoes on the homepage of his online store, Xixingji, and defer the operational fees. His employees, Jiu and Wu, were skeptical of the shoes' quality and his generosity, but Yang Jian stood firm, stressing that his sister Zhaoyang must not find out. In a separate matter, Zhaoyang's boss, Song Zhi, asked Xu Si for help.
Zhaoyang was on leave as a form of protest against the company's handling of an issue with a colleague. Xu Si criticized Song Zhi's conflict-avoidant management style before getting Zhaoyang's address. He then visited Zhaoyang, bluntly explaining that her protest was futile as the other employee was too valuable to punish. He advised her to build a stronger network to protect herself and warned of the financial and career risks of her absence.
Convinced, Zhaoyang agreed to return to work the next day. Prompted by Xu Si's earlier warning about Du Wenhua, Jiang Hu asked Yang Jian to investigate him. Yang Jian discovered that Du was historically lazy and had relied on his ex-wife, Song Jiali, a once-prominent figure in the fashion industry. Though long divorced, Du still frequently pressured the recently-returned Song Jiali for money. Realizing Song Jiali held the real influence, Jiang Hu sought her out.
Song Jiali remembered Jiang Hu fondly from childhood and, out of respect for her parents, offered to help, providing her extensive network of contacts at community supermarkets and small dealerships. With new sales channels secured, Jiang Hu implemented a new promotion. She decided to bundle the 79-yuan Teng Yue shoes (costing 20 yuan) as a free gift with the purchase of 58-yuan anti-odor socks from Yang Jian's inventory (costing 10 yuan).
After accounting for a 5-yuan sales commission, she calculated a net profit of 23 yuan per bundle. The promotion was an immediate success, with "Sold Out" notices appearing at retailers like Baijiale Supermarket and on the Xixingji store. A final tally by Pei Zhiyuan and Jiang Hu's uncle showed that 17,134 pairs had been sold, leaving just over 2,000 to go to meet her goal.
