Shangguan Wenxuan, holding her hand, pleaded with her to accept him, promising to immediately break up with Song Ziqing and be with her forever. Chu Tianyao firmly rejected him, stating that she had always seen him as a brother and urged him to stop assisting the Japanese.
Seeing her genuine anger, Shangguan Wenxuan repeatedly struck his own face, which eventually appeased her enough to stay, as he had something crucial to share. Shangguan Wenxuan led Chu Tianyao to a hidden crystal cave, where he opened a crystal coffin. Inside lay a woman, whom he revealed to be his mother. He expressed his suspicion that Shangguan Qing was responsible for her death. Chu Tianyao's eyes widened in shock, and she agreed to help him investigate the mystery.
Upon Shangguan Wenxuan's return, Shangguan Qing confronted him about his whereabouts. Unable to contain himself, Shangguan Wenxuan furiously demanded to know why Shangguan Qing had concealed his mother's body, revealing that Chu Tianyao was also aware of the secret. Enraged, Shangguan Qing moved to confront Chu Tianyao. Shangguan Wenxuan desperately knelt, pleading with Shangguan Qing not to harm her, threatening to take his own life if anything happened to her.
As Shangguan Qing disregarded his pleas and continued to leave, Shangguan Wenxuan pulled out a pistol. Shangguan Qing swiftly disarmed him and finally disclosed the truth. Shangguan Qing explained that he did not murder Shangguan Wenxuan’s mother, arguing that if he had, her body would have been disposed of long ago. He confessed that her death was connected to him; she had sacrificed her life to save him from thugs.
He preserved her body in the crystal coffin to prevent decay, with the ultimate goal of resurrecting her once he obtained the holy fruit. Shangguan Wenxuan, deeply moved by the prospect of his mother's return, once again addressed Shangguan Qing as "Father," his heart filled with a profound yearning for her resurrection. Later, Shangguan Qing sought out Chu Tianyao. He warned her that the secret of the crystal cave must remain buried and that she was to tell no one.
He then instructed her to collect handwriting samples from every member of the Ye family. Although he did not explicitly tell her the reason, his intention was to identify the author of a threatening letter he had received. She also shared her ambitious plan with her father, Ye Qiushi, emphasizing the need to accelerate the construction of their factory and collaborate with German experts to develop new medicines and overcome the Crand Trading Company. Additionally, Meijiao informed her that Mu Xingchen would soon arrive in Yunhai City. In Yunhai City, Guan Zhongwu, the leader of Ye Qiushi's armored soldiers and renowned as the tenth best martial artist in the city, was brutally murdered by a masked assailant.
