Xiao Fan arrived at Fox Ridge (Hu Qi Shan), where he and Bi Yao had a heart-to-heart talk under the moonlight. He learned that the Ghost King had already extracted the second volume of the Heavenly Book from the Heartbreak Flower. Bi Yao told Xiao Fan that the Ghost King had promised to help Xiao Fan remove the Heavenly Book from his body.

Bi Yao's intention was good; she didn't want Xiao Fan to be discovered by his master upon returning to Qing Yun, as that would risk expulsion from the sect. However, Xiao Fan stated that he needed to speak with the Ghost King in person. Xiao Yi Cai met with his master privately and falsely accused Lin Jing Yu and Xiao Fan of colluding with the Ghost King.

Dao Xuan thought it unlikely, as Lin Jing Yu and Xiao Fan had a deep blood feud with the Ghost King. But Xiao Yi Cai claimed Xiao Fan had been beguiled by Bi Yao, which made Dao Xuan begin to believe Xiao Yi Cai's nonsense. Xiao Fan met with the Ghost King.

Facing the wine offered by the Ghost King, he drank it without showing any fear, which greatly impressed the Ghost King, as it indicated Xiao Fan did not doubt his character. Xiao Fan got straight to the point, asking the Ghost King if he still remembered Grass Temple Village (Cao Miao Cun). He questioned the Ghost King whether the massacre of the entire village was related to him.

The Ghost King adamantly denied it, stating that he was absolutely not responsible for the incident, and that he acted openly and would certainly admit anything he had done. The Ghost King retorted, asking Xiao Fan if, after so many years in Qing Yun and with Grass Temple Village at the foot of Qing Yun Mountain, the Qing Yun people had not thoroughly investigated the matter.

Xiao Fan nodded, saying they had investigated, but the Ghost King pointed out the crucial issue: it wasn't that they couldn't find anything, but that they hadn't investigated with true intent, or perhaps someone was deliberately obstructing the truth from coming to light. Following this, the Ghost King tried to persuade Xiao Fan to join his sect, but Xiao Fan refused without hesitation.

The Ghost King told Xiao Fan that Bi Yao was worried the Heavenly Book inside him would turn him into a dim-witted person and had earnestly pleaded with him to help Xiao Fan remove the Heavenly Book from his body. He also told Xiao Fan that if he served him, he would inject the second volume of the Heavenly Book into his body as well, to help him cultivate and greatly enhance his power.

Xiao Fan retorted, asking the Ghost King if he would undoubtedly die if he refused to join the Ghost King Sect. The Ghost King replied with two words: "Precisely." However, Xiao Fan believed that his death could prevent suffering for all living beings, and thus would be a death well-deserved. He unequivocally rejected the Ghost King, telling him he would never obey him.

Enraged, the Ghost King wanted to kill Xiao Fan, but Bi Yao stood in front of Xiao Fan, forcing the Ghost King to give up. Lin Jing Yu truthfully recounted all his experiences along the way to Master Cang Song and Dao Xuan. However, Dao Xuan was very displeased with the outcome of Bi Yao obtaining a volume of the Heavenly Book and was half-believing, half-doubting Jing Yu's words.

Daoist Priest Cang Song intervened, persuading Dao Xuan to wait for Xiao Fan's return to confront him in person and make a decision after understanding the full story. Xiao Yi Cai, having failed with one scheme, devised another. He walked out with Jing Yu and cast a spell on Jing Yu from behind, causing Jing Yu to lose his sanity and exhibit beast-like behavior. This also alarmed the spirit beasts.

Dao Xuan and Cang Song rushed over and used their magic to suppress Jing Yu. Tian Bu Yi and Su Ru learned of this incident. Su Ru immediately wanted to confront Cang Song, but Tian Bu Yi believed there was something fishy about the matter, and the most urgent task was to save Lin Jing Yu's life. Afterward, he went to speak with Dao Xuan in person.

Tian Bu Yi reasoned with Dao Xuan, appealing to both his emotions and logic, urging him to act cautiously. He suggested that this incident was very likely a deliberate provocation by members of the Demonic Sect, just like years ago, when Dao Xuan was the sect leader, and Tian Bu Yi himself was deliberately alienated by Demonic Sect members, leading to a rift between them. He reminded Dao Xuan not to repeat the same mistakes.

You Yi, drawing on her own experiences, advised Bi Yao and Xiao Fan to end their relationship. However, Bi Yao was unwilling. You Yi pressed her, asking, "Then are you willing for him to die?" Bi Yao understood You Yi's implied meaning and was deeply conflicted. While walking on the mountain, Xiao Fan encountered Qin Wu Yan. The two engaged in a fierce fight.

The Ghost King arrived to stop them, stating that personal vendettas were not allowed within the territory of Fox Ridge (Hu Qi Shan). Xiao Fan prepared a lavish meal for Bi Yao, then bade her farewell, instructing her to take good care of herself. Bi Yao understood his difficulties but was still filled with immense reluctance to part. Facing Daoist Priest Cang Song's questioning, Lin Jing Yu stated that he absolutely had not colluded with the Demonic Sect.

Cang Song secretly pondered, worried that Lin Jing Yu might turn against him if he learned the truth of what happened years ago. Upon hearing about Jing Yu's predicament at Qing Yun, Lu Xue Qi immediately prepared to rush to Qing Yun.
