When Xiao Yicai used the Scales of the Beast Venerable to force out the Heavenly Book cultivation method from Zhang Xiaofan's body, the Blood of the Beast God encountered the Heavenly Book cultivation method and suddenly erupted. Xiao Yicai's face became distorted, half-human and half-beast, as he crashed directly into the bookshelf. The hunter heard the commotion and barged in. Fearing exposure, Xiao Yicai killed the hunter and took Zhang Xiaofan away.

Lin Jingyu followed the Medical Immortal back to his clinic and learned that although they were both fox demons, they made a living by practicing medicine in exchange for rice, were primarily vegetarian, and never harmed human lives. Lin Jingyu learned that the Medical Immortal was originally a Six-Tailed Divine Fox, and his younger brother was named Xiao Qi. As agreed, the Medical Immortal agreed to treat Zhang Xiaofan.

They rushed to the farmer's home, where they found the hunter's corpse on the spot, and Zhang Xiaofan and Xiao Yicai were nowhere to be found. Lin Jingyu recalled Xiao Yicai's experience of being an undercover agent in the Blood-Refining Faction and suspected that the evil arts on Zhang Xiaofan were affecting his mind, so he and the Medical Immortal brothers hurriedly split up to search for Zhang Xiaofan and Xiao Yicai.

The Six-Tailed Divine Fox insisted on not returning to Fox Qishan and even ignored Qinglong's request for him to go to the Fire Altar of Incense-Burning Valley to rescue his mother, the Nine-Tailed Divine Fox. Qinglong was about to forcibly take away the Six-Tailed Divine Fox. The sounds of their fight successively alerted Zhang Xiaofan and Lin Jingyu, Master Pukong, a master from Tianyin Temple who was cultivating there, and also Xiao Qi.

Qinglong took advantage of the chaos to abduct Xiao Qi. In a moment of desperation, Zhang Xiaofan wanted to cast a spell to save Xiao Qi, but Lin Jingyu hurriedly stopped him. Pukong learned that this young man was Zhang Xiaofan, remembered Master Puzhi's instructions to him, and used his internal energy to help Zhang Xiaofan heal.
