After the two heard the door creak shut behind them, Zhang Xiaofan was still worried whether Dog Lord would return to trouble Ghost Master. What he didn't know was that Dog Lord was actually in league with Ghost Master. Yudou City was bustling with activity. Zhang Xiaofan told Zeng Shushu that they should first look for Lin Jingyu and Lu Xueqi. Zeng Shushu wanted to visit his maternal grandfather first, and then play for a couple of days.

They found a place in Yudou City where many people had gathered. It turned out to be a Tianyin Pavilion disciple demanding that Jin Ping'er of Jinxiu Workshop release someone. Zeng Shushu, not understanding the situation, accused Jin Ping'er of breaking up marriages and stealing wives. Seeing the Qingyun Sect masters arrive to help, the Tianyin Pavilion disciple became even more emboldened, leading the crowd to force Jin Ping'er to release the person.

Just as the crowd counted to three, several red threads suddenly shot out from the house, wrapping around Zeng Shushu, Zhang Xiaofan, and the disciple, making it impossible for them to break free. Zeng Shushu hastily announced loudly that the Lord of Yudou City was his maternal grandfather, and only then did Jin Ping'er release them. To repay Zeng Shushu and his companion for their help, the Tianyin Pavilion disciple specially hosted a banquet for Zhang Xiaofan and Zeng Shushu.

Zeng Shushu asked the Tianyin Pavilion disciple about the cause of the incident. The disciple told them that he had been betrothed in childhood to a girl named Ding Ling who lived next door, but Ding Ling had always disliked his ugly appearance. Later, he cultivated for ten years in Tianyin Pavilion, but Ding Ling still hid and refused to see him because she found him ugly.

Now, with Jin Ping'er interfering, it was even harder for him to see Ding Ling, which led to the previous events. To help the Tianyin Pavilion disciple, Zeng Shushu and his companions devised a plan and finally came up with an idea.

This Tianyin Pavilion disciple, named A Xiang, disguised himself as Young Master Jia, a merchant from Jiangnan, and, under the pretext of discussing business with Jin Ping'er, wanted to see how the embroideresses of Jinxiu Workshop wove their unparalleled embroidery. Zeng Shushu and Zhang Xiaofan took the opportunity to sneak into Jinxiu Workshop disguised as ruffians. Their original intention was to make A Xiang appear distinguished and handsome.

The two encountered an embroideress and hastily pressed her for Ding Ling's whereabouts, unaware that this embroideress was Ding Ling herself. Ding Ling falsely claimed she would take them to find the person, then unexpectedly used silk fabric to wrap around Zeng Shushu and Zhang Xiaofan. Zeng Shushu, realizing this person was Ding Ling, lied that her parents owed him money three years ago. The two broke free from the silk and tried to drag Ding Ling out.

Just then, Young Master Jia, who arrived upon hearing the commotion, rebuked the two for daring to act wildly in broad daylight and repelled them. Jin Ping'er coldly watched their three-person performance and told A Xiang to get out of Jinxiu Workshop. It turned out that Jin Ping'er had long seen through Young Master Jia's disguise as A Xiang and had discerned their 'bitter plot' and so-called 'hero saving the beauty' scheme.

Ding Ling pulled off A Xiang's fake beard, and A Xiang hastily revealed his true identity to her. As soon as Zeng Shushu and Zhang Xiaofan stepped outside, Guard Yan of Yudou City arrived at Jinxiu Workshop with officers to arrest the three of them. It turned out that Jin Ping'er had already reported them. Guard Yan asked if they were accomplices. A Xiang vehemently denied it.

Guard Yan wanted to take Zhang Xiaofan and Zeng Shushu away, leaving A Xiang at Jinxiu Workshop on the grounds that he had committed no offense. Zeng Shushu and Zhang Xiaofan were locked up in Yudou Grand Prison. Suddenly, a prisoner in the adjacent cell reached out to grab the two of them. Zeng Shushu saw the token hanging from this person's waist and recognized him as a Ten Thousand Poisons Sect disciple.

Just as the two were feeling bored, Zeng Shushu's maternal grandfather learned that Qingyun Sect disciples had been arrested and hurried to the prison to check, mistakenly identifying Zhang Xiaofan as Zeng Shushu. At the Yudou City Lord's residence, Zeng Shushu couldn't help but ask his maternal grandfather about his recovery. Only then did he learn that his grandfather wasn't ill at all.

It turned out that the Yudou City Lord's two daughters had married into Fenxiang Valley and Qingyun Sect respectively, and had not visited him for many years. He had faked a serious illness with the aim of having them come to visit him. Zeng Shushu learned that his grandfather had also notified Fenxiang Valley and instantly got a headache. It turned out that his cousin, Li Xun, had always been arrogant and dismissive of others.

Zeng Shushu no longer had any interest in touring Yudou City and planned to leave Yudou in a couple of days to find Lu Xueqi and Lin Jingyu. That night, as Zhang Xiaofan was resting, the Blood Devouring Bead on the firestick suddenly sensed a cut on Zhang Xiaofan's finger, emitting streaks of eerie light that shot directly towards his finger.

In his dream, Zhang Xiaofan seemed to comprehend something and suddenly sat up, only to see the stick quietly lying there. The Old City Lord was very pleased, believing Zeng Shushu's investigative direction was correct and accurate. Guard Yan told Zeng Shushu that before the local residents moved away, they believed there was a blood-sucking demon upstream because the deceased had bite marks on their necks and all their blood had been drained.

After many days of investigation at that time, they finally caught the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect disciple who had gone insane. Seeing Zeng Shushu's dedication, the Old City Lord asked him to uncover the truth. At this point, Li Xun, on the grounds that Zeng Shushu's skills were not yet refined, vied to investigate the matter. The Old City Lord had no choice but to make the two of them jointly responsible.

After Zhang Xiaofan went down the mountain, his fellow disciples were very worried about his safety. However, without Zhang Xiaofan's cooking, no one had much appetite for their meals. Tian Ling'er made an excuse that she was full and went to Tongtian Peak to deliver a spirit herb she had grown to Qi Hao to help him cultivate.

Qi Hao held Tian Ling'er's hand and, full of affection, told her that he would take her down the mountain whenever he had the chance. Tian Ling'er happily nestled in Qi Hao's arms. Lin Jingyu and Lu Xueqi lingered in Kongsang Mountain for many days, during which they discovered some anomalies. However, the other party's movement technique was too fast, so they couldn't clearly see who that mysterious figure was.

The two prepared to return to Yudou to check on the situation. It turned out that Jin Ping'er, upon learning of unusual activity in Kongsang Mountain, went to investigate. Discovering the identities of Lin Jingyu and Lu Xueqi as Qingyun Sect disciples, she merely glided past them, not daring to alert them. After Zeng Shushu accepted the mission, he entered Kongsang Mountain with Zhang Xiaofan to begin searching for clues.
