My Mowgli Boy Episode 4 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
After Mowgli helped Ling Xi at the mall, he sought a reward, mimicking a mother and child by wanting her to pat his head. Ling Xi, though initially reluctant, agreed, thanking him for his help. When Mowgli indicated he was hungry, Ling Xi took him to a Western restaurant. She ordered a Tomahawk Steak and two glasses of water, having decided to treat him before abandoning him.
At the table, Mowgli sat squatting, which Ling Xi corrected, teaching him proper dining etiquette. She also showed him how to use a knife and fork, but Mowgli struggled and instinctively ate with his hands. He then generously offered Ling Xi a piece of his steak. Ling Xi reflected on human nature, advising Mowgli not to trust people too much, even if they offer food, and suggested he never return if he ever left.
She eventually excused herself to the washroom, but Mowgli called out "Come back!" Ling Xi, however, hardened her heart and left without looking back, abandoning him at the restaurant. Back at home, Ling Xi felt restless. She discovered a row of mineral water bottles, all opened. She realized Mowgli, knowing she struggled with bottle caps, had opened them for her.
Though she had initially thought him foolish, she now recognized his cleverness and felt a pang of guilt, questioning why she was sympathizing with him when she had come to throw him away. She worried about his injured foot. Despite telling herself she should be happy to be rid of him, Ling Xi's concern won out, and she decided to go back for Mowgli.
Recalling a police warning about a serial robber, Wang Zhengyu, who targeted single women, Ling Xi was wary as she left her community. She quickly hailed a Dudu driver, urging him to speed to One World Plaza before it closed at ten, too preoccupied to properly check the driver. When the actual Dudu driver called, Ling Xi realized she was in the wrong car and the driver was the suspect, Wang Zhengyu.
She tried to call the police, but Wang Zhengyu swerved, throwing her phone away. Trapped and terrified, Ling Xi shouted for help, calling Mowgli's name. Mowgli, who was waiting at the mall, heard her cries. Wang Zhengyu drove Ling Xi to a secluded tunnel entrance and, holding a knife, demanded her valuables. Ling Xi frantically offered her bag and anything he wanted, including a necklace she was wearing.
Suddenly, Mowgli arrived, throwing stones that shattered the streetlights and knocked the knife from Wang Zhengyu's hand. He then protected Ling Xi, taking a blow from Wang Zhengyu to shield her. Together, Ling Xi and Mowgli subdued Wang Zhengyu and handed him over to the police. Ling Xi felt a surge of satisfaction, but then questioned Mowgli about how he found her, joking about telepathy.
Mowgli tearfully confessed that he had been waiting for her since she left, and was happy she returned. Feeling deeply touched and apologetic, Ling Xi took Mowgli home. At home, Ling Xi attempted to treat Mowgli's injury but mistakenly applied a hot compress, which Mowgli endured without complaint, though his shoulder turned red. When Ling Xi realized her error, she quickly applied a cold compress. Mowgli then playfully requested that she wash his hair.
Despite her initial refusal, stating she had "returned the favor" for him saving her, Ling Xi softened and agreed. As she dried his hair, she taught him how to blow bubbles, which quickly turned into a playful chase when Mowgli blew bubbles at her face. Ling Xi mused about Mowgli's unique nature, sometimes human, sometimes animal, and asked about his family in the forest.
He recalled fragments of his Ranger Grandpa teaching him about hunting, emphasizing the "law of the forest is that the weak are the prey of the strong" and the need to be "more ferocious and smarter" than prey. Ling Xi expressed envy for the simplicity of life in the forest, where people could openly pursue those they loved without reservation. To her astonishment, Mowgli then repeated his Grandpa's advice in full, coherent sentences, proving he could speak, not just imitate.
Ling Xi was amazed, recalling Tang Cheng's theory about oral muscle atrophy, which she had disbelieved until now. Meanwhile, Lu Ziyue returned home looking distraught, making several absent-minded mistakes while his parents were playing mahjong. His parents, concerned, stopped their game and questioned him. He reluctantly admitted that "something happened between him and a girl." His parents, misinterpreting his vague confession, initially feared he had borrowed money from loan sharks, but then happily concluded he had finally fallen in love.
They were overjoyed, his mother commenting that he was not like Zheng Li, who only chatted and played basketball. His father emphasized that a man must be upright, stable, responsible, and have a bottom line. His mother then offered dating advice, comparing it to mahjong, urging him not to shrink back and to try different strategies to "self-draw from the wall."
Overwhelmed, Lu Ziyue asked them to leave him alone to think, making them promise not to tell their mahjong friends. Back in Ling Xi's room, Mowgli, now dressed in pajamas, and Ling Xi took a selfie together. Mowgli then caught Ling Xi's attention by intently staring at her safe and playfully bit her. After initially saying there was nothing valuable inside, Ling Xi yielded to his persistent gaze and desire to open it.
She joked that if she got rabies, it would be from his playful bite. She opened the safe, revealing many unsent pink letters she had written to Zheng Li, reflecting that perhaps her affections were misplaced. Mowgli rummaged through the contents and quickly found a wolf tooth necklace, which he promptly put on.
Ling Xi then realized that Mowgli had followed her all this time and caused chaos in her house, even breaking her money tree, solely to retrieve his precious necklace, which she had inadvertently stored away. She told him that since he had saved her life, and she had kept his important item safe, they were now even. She then told him that once his injury healed, she would send him back to the forest.
Mowgli, upset, declared he would leave immediately. Ling Xi, feeling a pang of regret, quickly stopped him, agreeing to send him back tomorrow morning instead. Later, she apologized to Mowgli for abandoning him, reflecting on human hostility and the need to mark territory, eventually wishing him goodnight, which he echoed. The next day, Ling Xi confessed to Tang Cheng that she was feeling a little reluctant to send Mowgli away.
Tang Cheng, who was munching on skewers, reminded her that their connection would end once he returned. Ling Xi also thanked Tang Cheng for delaying Lu Ziyue for her. Tang Cheng, looking annoyed, recounted how she had been "entangled" with Lu Ziyue, revealing that he was the lawyer for the wife in a divorce case she was handling, representing her client's husband. She noted the coincidence, stating that Zheng Li had seemingly set up the connection.
Ling Xi brushed off the idea of Zheng Li being interested in Bai Yiling, Lu Ziyue's client's wife and Zheng Li's new secretary, due to her being older. Tang Cheng jokingly retorted that Zheng Li "liked Ling Xi," prompting Ling Xi to make Tang Cheng finish her drink.
