My Mowgli Boy Episode 3 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Tang Cheng brought a very drunk Lu Ziyue to a hotel. Though she intended to leave, Lu Ziyue's incoherent drunken words made her hesitate. After falling from the sofa to the ground, Tang Cheng squatted down curiously. He rambled about how difficult his life was at thirty, with his mother still washing his underwear and even chasing him to school with a thermometer when he was sick.
His father, he complained, only focused on keeping birds, growing flowers, playing mahjong, and foot baths, even calling him for important matters only to ask how to collect winnings in mahjong's "three-player capture." When he asked for water, Tang Cheng, both annoyed and amused, got it for him. In his daze, Lu Ziyue grabbed her arm, pulling her close. Tang Cheng felt a sudden flutter in her chest.
Meanwhile, Ling Xi was excitedly heading to the movies with Zheng Li when she received a call from their neighbor, Mrs. Weng, complaining about deafening music coming from her apartment, loud enough to wake the entire building. Ling Xi, suspecting Mowgli was the cause, tried to dismiss it, wanting to continue her date.
However, Zheng Li, hearing the loud noise and recalling a mysterious call from Ling Xi's phone the previous night (where a male voice answered and asked who Zheng Li was, then Zheng Li asked Ling Xi if someone was in her house), insisted on taking her home, playfully hinting that she might have a new boyfriend. Ling Xi, denying it, went upstairs alone and anxiously opened her apartment door to find it in complete disarray.
Mowgli, wrapped in a measuring tape, was reveling in loud music, shaking his head and swaying. Furious, Ling Xi called the police, falsely reporting a home invasion and claiming the "criminal" was in her living room. Mowgli, seeing her genuine anger, adopted a pitiful expression. Police officers, along with a police dog named Halley, soon arrived. Ling Xi led them inside, but Mowgli had vanished, hiding in a cabinet.
Although Halley sniffed out Mowgli, the boy, being adept at communicating with animals, somehow easily made the dog walk away without revealing his hiding spot. Believing the intruder had escaped through a window, the officers warned Ling Xi, a single woman, to be careful at night, mentioning a wanted fugitive, Wang Zhengyu, who was recently active in the area and had committed several knife robberies. After the police left, Ling Xi sighed, facing the chaotic apartment alone.
Tang Cheng, exhausted from her night with Lu Ziyue, rejected Ling Xi's desperate pleas for help, which included dramatic statements about their "plastic sisterhood" and her house looking like it had been bombed. Tang Cheng advised her to hire a professional cleaner and went home to catch up on sleep. Ling Xi then sadly tended to a broken money tree, expressing guilt that she had "broken" it. She carefully wrapped the tree with plastic wrap, hoping to save it.
This money tree was a cherished gift from Zheng Li from over a decade ago. Ling Xi reminisced about being a lonely girl whose father had remarried, clinging to Zheng Li, who then gave her the money tree to make her feel less alone. Her frustration peaked when she later discovered Mowgli had reappeared in her bedroom, making her vow to get rid of him "even if knives fall tomorrow."
The next morning, Lu Ziyue awoke shirtless in the hotel room, disoriented, and astonished to find himself there, only then recalling yesterday's events. He hurried to meet Zheng Li to discuss Bai Yiling's divorce case. Zheng Li informed him that Chi Xu's lawyer was a formidable woman named Tang Cheng, well-known in the industry for her relentless pursuit of victory.
Unaware of the irony, Lu Ziyue diligently took notes, then excitedly recounted his romantic "encounter" from the previous night to Zheng Li, describing the woman as his pure and graceful "soulmate" in a fluttering white dress, seemingly oblivious to worldly desires and "untainted by the world's vulgarity." Just as he finished his heartfelt description, Tang Cheng herself walked in, elegantly dressed in a business suit.
She revealed herself to be Chi Xu's attorney, there to present a divorce settlement offer according to legal procedures. Lu Ziyue was utterly speechless and visibly shaken, barely able to shake her hand while Zheng Li teased him about his "soulmate." During the discussion, Lu Ziyue argued for Bai Yiling's right to an additional twenty percent of assets due to Chi Xu's infidelity, which made him the party at fault.
Tang Cheng skillfully countered by citing Bai Yiling's infertility, which, she stated, made it difficult to define fault in the breakdown of the marital relationship, despite infidelity being a moral flaw. She explained that laws regulate what morality cannot. Since no agreement could be reached, Tang Cheng stated that her client would file for divorce and they would meet in court.
After she left, Zheng Li jokingly remarked to Lu Ziyue that not all women in white are goddesses; some could be "demons." Still reeling, Lu Ziyue chased after Tang Cheng, questioning if her story about an interview and a long train journey was a lie. Tang Cheng nonchalantly admitted she had been opportunistic and that saying pleasantries was just part of the game for adults. She then drove off elegantly, leaving a flustered Lu Ziyue standing alone and dazed.
Deciding to finally part ways with Mowgli, Ling Xi took him to a shopping mall. She left him in an elevator, instructing him to stay put on an upper floor, and then happily went shopping herself. Unexpectedly, she ran into her brother Ling Yu and his girlfriend Gao Jie. Ling Xi criticized Ling Yu for enduring Gao Jie's demanding nature, asking if accompanying her wasn't "overtime" for him and if their father knew about Gao Jie's arrogance.
Ling Yu defended his behavior, calling it an "art" to make others comfortable. Gao Jie, noticing Ling Xi, began to mock her for selling a persona on live streams, for getting along badly with her family, and for being single and shopping alone, calling her "pitiful." Suddenly, Mowgli appeared, having used the elevator and overheard the conversation with his enhanced hearing. He came to Ling Xi's side and told her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."
Ling Xi was both surprised and pleased by his timely intervention, which allowed her to confidently give Gao Jie a dismissive look before leaving with Mowgli. Ling Xi was also filled with admiration for his quick learning, having mastered the elevator so fast. Curious, Ling Xi asked Mowgli how he knew to say those words.
Mowgli then repeated phrases he had heard from a mother and child in the elevator, revealing he was merely mimicking their words, such as "Thank you, darling. Mom, am I good? You're so brave. Mom will give you a little snack."
