Bai Yiling encountered Chi Xu while shopping at the supermarket. He was in a difficult financial situation, haggling with the cashier over a discount coupon for fresh products, arguing that the terms were printed too small and threatening to report them to the consumer complaint hotline. The cashier asked Bai Yiling to check out with Chi Xu to meet the coupon's minimum purchase requirement. After paying, Chi Xu offered her some money, saying he didn't want to owe her.

Bai Yiling, however, reminded him that he owed her much more than that, not just this trivial amount. Chi Xu, looking dejected, spoke of his struggles with a child and his current financial predicament, expressing regret for his past actions and calling himself a "scumbag." He promised to pay her back in installments, but Bai Yiling dismissed his words, stating she had no expectation of being repaid, and left him behind. That evening, Ling Yu met Gao Jie for dinner.

He handed her a bank card, explaining it was money to cover the investment losses she had incurred. Gao Jie was surprised by the sudden influx of cash. Ling Yu then, with a heavy heart, told her he wanted to break up. Gao Jie was devastated, unable to accept the end of their seven-year relationship. She initially tried to intimidate him, saying he wouldn't find another "rich woman" like her, then switched to pleading, but Ling Yu was resolute.

He explained that he had spent his life living for others – first his mother, then Ling Zhenghao – and now he wanted to live for himself. As Ling Yu walked away, Gao Jie, heartbroken, called out, asking if he was leaving her for Chu Shi. Ling Yu did not reply. Ling Yu then went to the mall to meet Chu Shi. He mustered the courage to confess his feelings, but the words caught in his throat.

She seemed sad, and he tried to cheer her up with corny jokes, suggesting they could put cold jokes into hot pot to achieve "the right temperature." As they shared a moment, Gao Jie called repeatedly. Chu Shi encouraged Ling Yu to answer, which he did. On the phone, Gao Jie revealed she had evidence of Ling Yu misusing Woerfu's company contract seal, threatening to expose him unless he immediately came to marry her.

She even told him she knew his current location and that he was with Chu Shi, using this to pressure him. Ling Yu hung up, looking at Chu Shi happily playing with children nearby. After a moment's hesitation, he decided to compromise with Gao Jie. Though he was clearly reluctant, he held back his true feelings and told Chu Shi that he was getting married and wished them both happiness.

Stunned and rooted to the spot, tears welled up in Chu Shi's eyes as she watched him leave. Mowgli, busy with work, noticed that Ling Xi hadn't contacted him all day. Worried that she might do something drastic, he frantically searched for her. Meanwhile, Ling Xi was engrossed in working on her proposal, sitting on a park bench. As she dozed off, Li Yuheng appeared, catching her just as she was about to fall.

They exchanged smiles and proceeded to discuss her proposal in his car. Mowgli, searching nearby, caught sight of them talking animatedly and Ling Xi smiling at Li Yuheng. Overcome with jealousy, he turned and went home alone. Back home, Mowgli was still sulking. Chu Shi also returned, and they finally had an open conversation. Chu Shi clarified that she did not have romantic feelings for him. Mowgli, in turn, reassured her that he only saw her as a sister.

With the misunderstanding cleared, Chu Shi felt a weight lift from her shoulders. Soon after, Ling Xi arrived, in a cheerful mood. Mowgli, still visibly upset, pulled her into the room and confronted her about coming home late and ignoring his calls, asking if she was going to jump off a bridge. Ling Xi retorted that she wasn't a "lost lamb" and had intentionally not answered. She accused him of yelling at her with a "double standard" attitude.

Mowgli insisted he was just worried and offered to pick her up if she informed him in advance. Ling Xi then teased him, pointing out that he had seen her getting out of Li Yuheng's car. She added that Li Yuheng had "deliberately detoured" to take her home, and had "hand in hand" guided her with the successful proposal. She sarcastically asked if Mowgli was happy for her. Mowgli grudgingly replied, "especially happy."

Ling Xi then reminded him of his previous statement that having close male friends was normal, implying he shouldn't mind her relationship with Li Yuheng. Mowgli, cornered, denied being a "double standard dog." Ling Xi then declared she needed to change into her pajamas and told him to leave. Mowgli commented on her numerous pajamas, suggesting she adopt a "life of minimalism."

Ling Xi, embracing the idea, agreed and stated her first goal for a minimalist life was "getting rid of my boyfriend," then promptly kicked him out of the room. Mowgli muttered to himself, regretting his "double standard dog" comment and now labeling himself a "double-standard wolf," still confused about her late-night "plan." Elsewhere, Mr. and Mrs. Yi were locked in a heated divorce dispute.

Mrs. Yi was unwilling to divorce and requested her husband withdraw the lawsuit, but Mr. Yi was determined to divorce. Eventually, Mrs. Yi changed her approach, stating she would only sign the divorce agreement if Mr. Yi found a specific pair of shoes he had given her when they were dating. Mr. Yi vehemently denied ever giving her such shoes, dismissing it as a "trick" to delay the divorce.

Meanwhile, at Li Yuheng's company, employees were anxious, fearing mass layoffs after their supervisor was recently fired. They worried their current gathering was a "death breakfast." Ling Xi, however, walked in confidently with her proposals. Employees secretly bet she would be rejected immediately, but to their surprise, Li Yuheng approved all her plans, making Ling Xi jump with joy. As Ling Xi left, savoring her success and a sandwich, she witnessed Zhang Supervisor confronting Li Yuheng.

Zhang Supervisor, the recently fired veteran, angrily splashed water on Li Yuheng, accusing him of being ruthless, playing office politics, and retaliating against him for "choosing the wrong side," despite his eight or nine years of dedicated service and his current financial struggles with mortgages and car loans. Li Yuheng calmly responded that his role was to ensure everything fit perfectly, and parts that didn't fit had to be removed.

Zhang Supervisor then lashed out at the other employees, claiming they would also be fired soon. Ling Xi stepped in, defending Li Yuheng. She pointed out Zhang Supervisor's expensive, new-season luxury suit, leather shoes, limited-edition moon phase plus tourbillon watch, glasses, and tie, scoffing at his claim of poverty and calling him out for not understanding "an actor's self-cultivation."

She further highlighted that true construction workers, like he claimed to be, would have a paler chin from helmet straps and sweat, which he clearly did not. She then expertly calculated his severance pay, emphasizing that Li Yuheng had been generous, offering him a "contribution fee" instead of demanding compensation for his mistakes. Zhang Supervisor, embarrassed and fuming, called Ling Xi "Blondie," to which she corrected him that her hair was "khaki" and called him a "hillbilly."

Humiliated, Zhang Supervisor left, but not before threatening Li Yuheng. The employees, relieved by the outcome, discovered they had not only kept their jobs but also received a pay raise. Lu Ziyue and Tang Cheng arrived at the Yi's residence to help search for the shoes. Lu Ziyue, convinced the shoes didn't exist, resigned himself to the fact that divorce was inevitable.

Tang Cheng, however, believed that "as long as they were once in love, there will be traces," and insisted they search together. Lu Ziyue tried to maintain distance, but Tang Cheng found an old carving knife inscribed with "A gift to my husband. From Lin," highlighting Mr. Yi's sentimentality. Lu Ziyue dismissed it as trash since it was left behind, but Tang Cheng countered with the "Heart of the Ocean" analogy, accusing him of "replacing concept."

She then found a photo of Mr. and Mrs. Yi affectionately embracing, with a Neruda poem on the back, and argued that Mr. Yi was also replacing the concept of love with "suitability." Tang Cheng passionately stated that love, not just suitability, was the only thing that could conquer regret, and that it required mutual effort, unlike Lu Ziyue who seemed content to "lie still."

She directly asked if he still loved her and if he would give her another chance. As she spoke, a book tumbled from a shelf, and Lu Ziyue instinctively pulled Tang Cheng close, shielding her from harm.
