My Mowgli Boy Episode 2 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
The dishevelled man continued to approach Ling Xi, who instinctively warned him not to come closer, threatening to strike him if he did. The man, however, seemed only to be trying to open the bathroom door, but instead accidentally turned on the bath light. Startled by the sudden brightness, he recoiled. Ling Xi, observing his reaction, wondered if he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and feared light. Testing her theory, she shone a flashlight directly into his eyes.
He raised his hand to shield himself, then stumbled and fainted. Ling Xi, still wary but seeing the fresh wound on his ankle bleeding, felt a pang of pity and bandaged it. For her safety, she then tied him securely, though she would later realize she had forgotten to tie his legs. Soon after, Ling Xi's best friend, Tang Cheng, arrived. Ling Xi vividly recounted the terrifying ordeal of the previous night.
Tang Cheng, dismissing her friend's dramatics, rolled her eyes and tossed a doll towards Ling Xi, but it accidentally struck the unconscious man. He immediately awoke and quickly got up. To Ling Xi's dismay, she then realized her oversight in not tying his legs. The man, instead of reacting aggressively, retreated and hid behind a chair, appearing frightened. Tang Cheng, sensing he wasn't a threat, asked Ling Xi to fetch a medium-rare steak.
The man devoured the meat ravenously, a sight Ling Xi described as truly barbaric. Tang Cheng, puzzled by his behavior, took a photo, intending to seek an expert's opinion. Meanwhile, Zheng Li intervened on behalf of his new assistant, Bai Yiling. Bai Yiling was divorcing Chi Xu, her husband of many years, who had been unfaithful and was now pressuring her to sign an unfair divorce agreement.
Upon meeting Chi Xu at Wharf, Bai Yiling maintained a professional demeanor despite Chi Xu's attempts at familiarity. He presented her with keys to a new apartment, having paid the deposit and three months of rent, along with lawyer-drafted divorce papers, demanding she sign immediately. Bai Yiling refused, insisting on an equal division of their transferred assets and the house, arguing she had paid the mortgage despite the property being registered solely in his name.
Chi Xu, agitated, revealed that Yao, the woman he was having an affair with, was nine months pregnant and he couldn't leave them homeless, adding he was finally going to be a father. Bai Yiling tearfully accused him of causing "dirty things" by abusing her trust. Chi Xu, unyielding, threatened her job at Wharf, claiming connections with senior executives who he could "speak evil" to. Zheng Li then entered, cutting short their argument.
He handed Chi Xu the revised contract, notably reinstating two clauses that made the deal less profitable for Chi Xu. When Chi Xu complained about the high costs of "computer animation effects," Zheng Li implied that without "commissions," the project would still be profitable, subtly referencing Bai Yiling's past work and how it hadn't resulted in losses. Zheng Li then thanked Chi Xu for not cherishing Bai Yiling, as it allowed him to gain such a good assistant.
He then dismissed Chi Xu, stating he had another meeting. After Chi Xu left, Bai Yiling apologized for bringing her personal issues into work. Zheng Li reassured her, playfully noting Chi Xu's "pale, blushing and stiff" face. He told her not to feel guilty, reminding her that he would "work with me" and stand by her side. He advised her to regain her focus, adding, "Don't let it happen again."
He also offered to introduce her to a law-student friend to help with her divorce, knowing Chi Xu was prepared with legal counsel. Back at Ling Xi's apartment, Tang Cheng shared her research, concluding that the man likely lived in the wild for so long that he developed animal habits and his "language ability has degenerated." Ling Xi jokingly asked if he was an "adventurer in the wild," an "ape in Shennongjia," or "Tarzan," even considering it a "promotion point."
Tang Cheng urged her to stop thinking about marketing. Tang Cheng then received a message from her father, confirming the man's long-term wild living likely caused his language degeneration. Ling Xi then spontaneously called him "Mowgli of 'The Jungle Book'," and to her surprise, he reacted. She repeated "Mowgli," and he responded with "Meat" and mimicked "Mowgli." Ling Xi, despite her initial sarcastic remark about him "singing a rap," decided to officially name him Mowgli.
She still thought Mowgli was foolish and had mental problems. Ling Xi had planned to send Mowgli to the police, but Tang Cheng suggested returning him to the forest, arguing that Mowgli couldn't adapt to modern society, emphasizing that humans shouldn't abuse their position at the top of the "food chain." Ling Xi, exasperated, suggested Tang Cheng keep Mowgli, calling them a "perfect match" like "hotpot and the oil seasoning," and jokingly threatened to call the police on Tang Cheng.
Tang Cheng, citing her busy caseload, refused to constantly clean up Ling Xi's messes and abruptly left. Ling Xi, feeling abandoned, called Tang Cheng a "stupid woman" and Mowgli a "wolf man," while Mowgli continued to mutter "Meat." Left alone in Ling Xi's apartment, Mowgli explored with childlike curiosity. He fiddled with dolls, was startled by a robot vacuum cleaner, and inadvertently broke a flower pot, leaving the apartment in disarray.
He was heard repeatedly saying "Meat" and calling out "Second Uncle." Later, Ling Xi, arriving at the Wharf building, was confronted by her employees, who were upset about her live broadcast suddenly stopping the previous night. She concocted a story about her phone getting soaked while "saving a wild animal" and instructed them to edit a photo to make her look "a little tired" for a social media post.
She then brushed off their design and factory concerns, telling them to handle "trivial matter" themselves. The employees speculated about her frequent visits to the 38th floor, Zheng Li's office, remarking on their long-standing "struggle" and joking about dying of anxiety because of her. Meanwhile, Zheng Li, in his office, was texting Lu Ziyue about a favor. Amy, his assistant, informed him that Miss. Ling had texted her about potentially "passing by."
Zheng Li told Amy to use his pre-arranged meeting with Lu Ziyue as an excuse, clarifying that this time the meeting was real. As Amy went to deliver the message, Ling Xi unexpectedly appeared at Zheng Li's door. Ling Xi, greeting him as "Killjoy" and herself as "Drama queen," presented him with a "special gift," expecting a "curious and excited" reaction. To her surprise, it was a commonplace prank item.
Ling Xi realized Mowgli had swapped her elaborate gift—a pine cone covered in ground "star jelly"—with the toy. Conceding defeat, she cursed Mowgli. Zheng Li then offered her a drink he had "specially bought" for her, knowing she was coming. Ling Xi, playing along, insisted on taking the cup in his hand, claiming it "is better." They toasted, and Ling Xi took a sip, only to recoil in shock, yelling, "Mustard! You put mustard in the straw!"
To make amends, Ling Xi offered him two movie tickets for "Flipped," a film she described as being about two childhood rivals falling in love. Zheng Li quipped it should be called "Hatred." He declined her offer, stating he had an appointment with Lu Ziyue. To prove it, he showed her his phone with Lu Ziyue's message. Ling Xi, feigning indifference, stated she "doesn't want to watch the film either" and left, but immediately called Tang Cheng for help.
She described her predicament as an "urgent" matter, begging Tang Cheng to "delay Lu Ziyue" so he couldn't meet Zheng Li. Tang Cheng initially complained about Lu Ziyue being an "old-fashioned man," an "old zombie," and "not my type," but Ling Xi's persistent pleas and threat to "be with you forever" eventually swayed her. Tang Cheng reluctantly agreed to help one last time, with a warning not to ask for future favors.
Ling Xi then asked what kind of girl Lu Ziyue liked. Tang Cheng then devised a plan. Dressed as a pure student, she "accidentally" encountered Lu Ziyue, claiming to be his former student from an elective course. She then sought his legal advice on the complex topic of marital property division during divorce, presenting hypothetical scenarios that confused him. When Lu Ziyue offered to provide a detailed explanation via email later, Tang Cheng shifted tactics.
She feigned distress, revealing she had a "very important interview" the next day and would be devastated if she failed, implying he was her only hope. Unable to refuse her pitiable act, Lu Ziyue agreed to help her over dinner, stating he would be late for his other appointment. At the restaurant, Tang Cheng secretly ordered a bottle of white liquor, subtly pressing Lu Ziyue to drink while he lectured on legal principles.
He eventually realized she had given him white liquor instead of water. He became progressively drunk. At the restaurant, Ling Xi and Zheng Li were joined by Bai Yiling. Zheng Li had originally invited Lu Ziyue to consult on Bai Yiling's divorce case.
Ling Xi, trying to assert her close relationship with Zheng Li, deliberately told the waiter that her food preferences were the opposite of Zheng Li's, claiming they were like "positive and negative electrodes" and she "doesn't like anything he likes." Zheng Li tried to call Lu Ziyue, but instead, Mowgli, alone in Ling Xi's apartment, accidentally answered Ling Xi's phone.
Zheng Li heard only garbled sounds and, assuming it was one of Ling Xi's friends, hung up, finding the call "weird." He called Lu Ziyue again, and this time Tang Cheng answered, pretending to be Lu Ziyue's student, explaining he was unavailable due to "some business." Zheng Li, believing Lu Ziyue finally had a romantic engagement, hung up, remarking that his "roomie finally has a date."
He then informed Ling Xi that Lu Ziyue "unfortunately has something to do, so he can't come." Seizing the opportunity, Ling Xi immediately dragged Zheng Li to the movies, having bought all the surrounding tickets to ensure their privacy. Bai Yiling, sensing the situation, gracefully excused herself and left. Zheng Li appeared somewhat wistful as Ling Xi pulled him away. Later, at the restaurant, the waiter inquired if Lu Ziyue was alright.
Tang Cheng dismissively replied that he "can't drink much" and was "drunk after drinking a glass of wine," telling the waiter to "leave him alone" to go home when he sobered up. However, seeing Lu Ziyue so utterly defenseless, Tang Cheng couldn't bring herself to abandon him. Surprised by his innocent nature, she arranged for him to be carried to a nearby hotel. After ensuring he was safely settled, Tang Cheng called Ling Xi, proudly announcing that the "protracted battle is finally over" and reminding her to consider how to repay her.
