My Mowgli Boy Episode 15 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Mr. Ma, a restaurant owner, boasted about his success and crude business philosophy during a dinner with Mr. Hou, Tang Cheng, and Lu Ziyue. He claimed that those who do not curry favor with their bosses have no future and that animals exist solely for human consumption, a belief he used to justify eating any creature. Tang Cheng internally struggled to keep her composure, counting to ten repeatedly to calm herself as Mr. Ma continued his vulgar rant.
Meanwhile, Ling Xi and Mowgli infiltrated Mr. Ma’s kitchen, where Mowgli’s keen senses detected what sounded like animals crying for help. They were mistaken by a chef for pufferfish testers, and Mowgli, without hesitation, ate several slices of the poisonous fish to avoid suspicion, a brave act that worried Ling Xi immensely. Mowgli explained that he had to eat it to get them inside. Ling Xi, despite her initial skepticism about Mowgli's "fantasy drama" claims, agreed to trust his instincts.
They discovered a freezer filled with frozen Chinese pangolins, an endangered species, hidden in a storage room. Furious, Ling Xi photographed the evidence, determined to expose Mr. Ma's illicit business. She tasked Mowgli to remain in the storage room while she sought more proof. At the dinner table, Mr. Ma proudly presented a "roast donkey," describing it as the "meat of all meats." Tang Cheng, having tasted it, immediately became nauseous and vomited, humiliating Mr. Ma.
He angrily accused her of being disrespectful and reiterated that he would consume wild animals, calling them mere "beasts." Lu Ziyue then stood up and fiercely denounced Mr. Ma, calling him "worse than a beast" and condemning his "endless perverted desires" for torturing and killing animals for pleasure. He asserted that true gourmets find happiness even in simple rice and that human actions like Mr. Ma's were driving wild animals to extinction.
Mr. Hou, unable to tolerate Mr. Ma's behavior any longer, declared the termination of their business cooperation and left with Tang Cheng and Lu Ziyue. He praised his employees' strong values and dismissed Mr. Ma as "too disgusting." Ling Xi's search for evidence took a turn for the worse when Mr. Ma's subordinates captured her. Mr. Ma, mistaking Ling Xi and Mowgli for investigative journalists, demanded they hand over any photos.
Mowgli, quick-thinking, claimed the photos were on Ling Xi and offered to retrieve them, creating a diversion. He then engaged in a fight with Mr. Ma's men, but the pufferfish he had consumed earlier began to take effect, leaving him weakened. Ling Xi, seeing Mowgli struggle, felt a pang of guilt that she had asked him to stay still, but his loyalty shone through as he fought to protect her, eventually collapsing from the poison.
Later, as Tang Cheng and Lu Ziyue recovered from the tense dinner, Tang Cheng praised Lu Ziyue's bravery, telling him he had a powerful aura and was very manly. Lu Ziyue playfully asked if he wasn't always manly. Their flirtatious moment was interrupted when Tang Cheng received an urgent call from Ling Xi. Learning that Ling Xi and Mowgli were in trouble, Tang Cheng immediately arranged for an ambulance to send Mowgli to the hospital.
In the ambulance, Ling Xi and Tang Cheng finally reconciled, sharing heartfelt apologies for their recent quarrel and reaffirming their deep friendship. Lu Ziyue, observing their emotional reunion, felt a moment of being forgotten. At the hospital, doctors confirmed that Mowgli would recover, though he needed rest and a bland diet for weeks due to the pufferfish poisoning, and his fever might recur. Ling Xi, full of remorse, offered to fulfill any of Mowgli's wishes.
He humbly requested a warm chicken soup and a cell phone to make calls, which, to Ling Xi's surprise, were not the grand requests she expected. News soon reached them that Mr. Ma had been arrested, with Ling Xi's photos serving as crucial evidence. Mr. Hou, speaking with Tang Cheng, expressed his support for her actions, noting that while she might have lost him a client, she upheld her values.
Ling Xi's father and Ling Yu arrived at the hospital, but Ling Xi's father stubbornly hesitated to enter. Tang Cheng encouraged Ling Xi to speak with him, acknowledging his concern. Ling Xi reluctantly approached her father, who, despite his outwardly cold demeanor, revealed a subtle care for his daughter by mentioning he had received and would use the massage instrument she sent him. Ling Yu, witnessing this exchange, felt a familiar pang of jealousy.
Back home, Wen Yu asked Ling Xi's father about Ling Yu's investment in Gao Jie's business. Ling Xi's father firmly stated he had rejected the proposal due to significant cross-industry risks. Wen Yu, agreeing with his wisdom, quickly changed the subject. Ling Yu later presented his father with a new nano thermal underwear for the Mid-Autumn Festival, but his father was preoccupied with Ling Xi's massage instrument and appeared dismissive of Ling Yu's gift.
Wen Yu then tried to persuade Ling Yu to withdraw his investment from Gao Jie's venture, citing his father's disapproval and the potential for financial loss, especially since he wasn't married to Gao Jie yet. Ling Yu, however, adamantly refused, arguing that he had thoroughly researched the project and believed it was sound. He expressed deep-seated resentment, feeling that he and his mother were merely dependents in the Ling household.
He lamented that if his biological father hadn't died young, they wouldn't have to live such a restrained existence, constantly yielding to Ling Xi and failing to gain his stepfather's approval. Overwhelmed with anger and sadness, Wen Yu slapped Ling Yu.
A flashback revealed a young Ling Yu arriving at the Ling family home with his mother, only to be met with fierce rejection from a young Ling Xi, who refused to accept them, proclaiming she didn't want to call Wen Yu "mom" and demanding they leave her home and dad.
He recalled how he always had to yield to Ling Xi, even questioning why he was called Ling Yu when his surname was Ding, and felt like an outsider, contributing to his lifelong frustration and sense of inadequacy. That night, Mowgli suffered a terrifying nightmare, reliving scenes of hunters in the forest. He woke up screaming and sweating. Ling Xi quickly attended to him, comforting him and changing his clothes as she noticed he was feverish.
Mowgli, touched by her attentive care, realized how much he craved such kindness, having only been cared for by his mother and then himself. The next morning, Ling Xi prepared a simple bowl of plain porridge for Mowgli, reminding him that he needed to eat lightly after his poisoning. Mowgli, longing for steak and other meats, playfully protested, claiming he was fully recovered.
Ling Xi playfully chided him, but Mowgli also noticed her dark eye circles, showing how much she had been caring for him. Later, as they talked, Ling Xi expressed her long-standing belief that her father only cared about his business and never truly cared for her, despite Wen Yu's efforts to please him. Mowgli, however, disagreed, stating he had observed a "shy but eager expression of concern" in Ling Xi's father's eyes, suggesting a deeper, unspoken affection.
Ling Xi dismissed this, citing his past strictness and neglect. Changing the subject, she asked Mowgli about his own childhood caregivers. Mowgli recounted his life with his Grandpa Ranger in the forest, detailing the ranger's diligent and often monotonous duties of patrolling, planting, and preventing fires and theft. He spoke of the deep bond they shared until his Grandpa Ranger passed away.
His grandfather's son took over the role, but Mowgli found him to be a quiet and reserved man, which led to very little communication between them. Ling Xi, moved by his story, gently patted Mowgli's head and promised to always look out for him and talk to him, filling the void he had felt.
