My Mowgli Boy Episode 1 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Every year, millions of children disappear worldwide, some getting abandoned in forests, where they either starve or become prey. However, a few lucky ones survive and are called Mowglies. They are different from animals and do not belong to modern society, exhibiting both animal and human traits.
One such Mowgli boy is growing up in a lush forest, raised by a forest ranger, living with animals, and mastering many wilderness survival skills, which allows him to deftly handle even fierce wild boars. Nearby, Ling Xi, an entrepreneurial woman, is preparing for a livestream fashion shoot in an open area of the forest.
She's delaying the start because her nails aren't perfect, frustrating her assistants, Ren He and Li Kai, who point out they agreed to start at sunrise. When Ling Xi finally begins the livestream, she puts on a friendly face for her 'pomelo' fans and thanks her staff for tolerating her willfulness. Suddenly, she hears strange animal noises from the forest.
Being naturally bold and curious, she decides to investigate, telling her fans she will take them to see what's happening inside. Leaving her assistants behind, Ling Xi drives her sports car into the woods, continuing her livestream. However, as she ventures deeper, the signal disappears, and she finds herself in a desolate part of the forest. Frightened, Ling Xi breaks out in a cold sweat, abandons her animal rescue mission, and quickly turns her car around to head back home.
Back in the city, Ling Xi calls her friend Zheng Li, hoping he can accompany her home for dinner. However, Zheng Li lies, claiming he has an appointment with his good brother Lu Ziyue. Disappointed, Ling Xi calls Amy, the receptionist, to verify Zheng Li's story, and Amy also lies, confirming he's busy with friends. Realizing she's been rejected, Ling Xi decides to eat alone, lamenting that she'll have to go by herself.
Ling Xi is returning home to celebrate her father's sixtieth birthday. Although her relationship with her father has been cold since he remarried her stepmother, Wen Yu, after her mother's death, Wen Yu still tries to prepare a welcoming environment, having redecorated and cooked Ling Xi's favorite dishes.
When Ling Xi enters, Wen Yu welcomes her warmly, but Ling Xi's father immediately criticizes her for not greeting anyone properly and for living alone, urging her to get used to interacting with Wen Yu. Ling Xi retorts that she prefers her independence and freedom. When Ling Xi is about to take out the birthday gift she prepared for her father, Wen Yu's son, Ling Yu, arrives with his girlfriend, Gao Jie.
Ling Xi quickly puts the gift back and maintains an unpleasant expression. Gao Jie immediately acts as if she's the lady of the house and is unpleasant towards Ling Xi, sarcastically pointing out the dirt on her clothes from the forest. During dinner, Gao Jie and Ling Yu overtly try to please Ling Xi's father and Wen Yu with their toasts and flattery.
Gao Jie then presents a photo frame as a gift, stating it's for Ling's father and Wen Yu's recent wedding photo, implying it needs a frame worthy of such a meaningful picture. This is the last straw for Ling Xi, who remembers her own mother's dying wish to take a wedding photo with her father went unfulfilled. Ling Xi becomes furious, announces she's full, and wants to leave.
Wen Yu tries to stop her, urging her to give her father some face on his birthday, but Ling Xi refuses to stay. An intense argument erupts between Ling Xi and her father, with Ling Xi accusing him of remarrying too soon—less than a year after her mother's death—and harshly implying he may have been having an affair while her mother was alive. She reminds him that her mother never had a wedding.
Her father, enraged, tells her to get lost, and Ling Xi angrily storms out, slamming the door. Angrily, Ling Xi, lamenting her family's treatment of her, throws the gift she intended for her father into the back seat. To her horror, she discovers a dishevelled, wounded man lying there.
Petrified, she quickly gets out of the car, checks her dashcam footage, and realizes he accidentally fell into her car while she was exploring the forest earlier that day and was unwittingly driven back to the city with her. Ling Xi, in a state of panic, immediately calls her best friend Tang Cheng for help, claiming she brought back a 'wild man.'
However, Tang Cheng is reveling at a nightclub with her new boyfriend and dismisses Ling Xi's story as nonsense, not taking it seriously. Annoyed, Ling Xi curses Tang Cheng. Left with no choice, Ling Xi takes the dishevelled man to a hospital. After treatment, the man quickly regains consciousness. He appears to have never seen modern society before, refusing to communicate, yet filled with both wariness and curiosity. He becomes agitated by the IV drip, calling it 'crazy.'
A nurse rushes in to check on him, but his strange behavior and wariness make her cautious. He hides on top of a cabinet, and the doctor suspects he has mental problems, suggesting they call a psychiatrist. The man then manages to sneak away. He wanders through the hospital, curious about everything he sees and even imitating people on the phone. Driven by an urge to escape, he climbs onto a window, intending to climb out.
Hospital staff rush to stop him. Just then, Ling Xi arrives, and to avoid recognition, she reluctantly puts on a mask, pretends the man is her 'second uncle' who has wandered off and is 'a bit off in the head,' and takes him out of the hospital. Ling Xi, annoyed, complains that the man seems to be showing disdain for her. She tries to pay him off, but he remains silent.
She gives him all the cash she has, including money for his medical fees she had already paid, and reiterates that they've settled privately and he shouldn't bother her again, then she leaves. Later that night, while Ling Xi is preparing to take a bath, she is startled to discover the man has followed her home and climbed into her bathroom through the window. Frightened, she screams and tries to call the police for help, but he throws her phone into the bathtub.
