Gu Chuan revealed to Jiang Xiaoning that her ideas, along with her optimistic attitude towards life, had genuinely inspired him, filling her with joy. Gu Chuan brought the good news back to the office: the resort project would officially be signed in two days. Everyone eagerly decided to celebrate with a lavish dinner, and Gu Chuan, to their surprise, agreed to join.
He also announced that Jiang Xiaoning had officially passed her probation period and instructed his assistant to arrange a desk for her, which made her incredibly happy. At the celebration dinner, Gu Chuan kindly made a toast. Later, urged by a colleague, Jiang Xiaoning stood up to toast Gu Chuan and Su Manlin.
Despite knowing Gu Chuan didn't drink, Jiang Xiaoning drank a large glass herself, then, fueled by liquid courage, impulsively gave both Gu Chuan and Su Manlin "a hug filled with love," causing a stir among the colleagues. Xu Cheng Ran, who was also present, witnessed the scene with surprise. Later, he approached Gu Chuan in the restroom, suggesting Gu Chuan might be developing feelings, but Gu Chuan firmly denied it.
Still, Xu Cheng Ran felt there was a different look in Gu Chuan's eyes. As the party continued, Gu Chuan decided to leave early. Jiang Xiaoning offered to drive, but seeing her swaying from intoxication, Gu Chuan realized it would be safer for him to drive her home. Watching Jiang Xiaoning sleeping peacefully in the backseat, Gu Chuan couldn't help but smile.
After arriving, Jiang Xiaoning decided to walk around outside to air out the alcohol smell before going home, not wanting her grandmother to notice. Meanwhile, Zhao Yan was leaving work when she encountered Ouyang Tang, who again harassed her. When he put his hand on her shoulder, Zhao Yan reacted by throwing him over her shoulder. Elsewhere, Gu Chuan, noticing the impending rain, called Jiang Xiaoning again. Jiang Xiaoning, feigning sobriety, claimed she was already home.
However, the sound of someone vomiting nearby revealed her lie. She confessed she was airing out the alcohol and offered water to the person, only to discover it was He Sheng, her former nemesis from the company. He Sheng, having been fired and now under investigation for past records, had been searching for Jiang Xiaoning and was furious. He grabbed her phone and forcibly dragged her through the pouring rain.
Hearing the struggle over the phone, Gu Chuan became worried and immediately drove back to Jiang Xiaoning's neighborhood. He soon spotted them. Gu Chuan quickly got out of his car and punched He Sheng, who fell but quickly retaliated with a broken bottle, slashing Gu Chuan's arm. Jiang Xiaoning tried to intervene but was also cut, and seeing her bleeding arm, Gu Chuan's heart rate spiked. Seizing the moment, Gu Chuan grabbed He Sheng's arm.
Under the intense stimulation of the pouring rain and Gu Chuan’s discharge, He Sheng was electrocuted, collapsing unconscious. Gu Chuan, weakened, also collapsed, his heart rate rapidly dropping. Xu Cheng Ran, alerted by a notification on his phone, quickly arrived using the location tracker and rushed both Gu Chuan and Jiang Xiaoning to the hospital. At the hospital, Gu Chuan and Jiang Xiaoning received medical attention. Xu Cheng Ran took He Sheng to the police station.
When He Sheng awoke, he drunkenly claimed Gu Chuan had "electrocuted" him, describing Gu Chuan as "Pikachu" or "The Flash." Given his intoxication, the police did not believe him. Officers and Xu Cheng Ran then came to the hospital to question Gu Chuan and Jiang Xiaoning. Gu Chuan, hesitant to speak, simply asked Jiang Xiaoning to take him home. Jiang Xiaoning drove Gu Chuan home but remained worried about him.
Gu Chuan, understanding her concern, allowed her to wait downstairs while he went into his "charging capsule" to recharge. As Xu Cheng Ran escorted the police away, they encountered Zhao Yan and Ouyang Tang arriving at the hospital. Ouyang Tang was tearfully demanding to be tested for his injuries. Xu Cheng Ran found it amusing and made a sarcastic remark, which only angered Zhao Yan, who then tripped him, sending him sprawling.
Ouyang Tang, now scared, quickly withdrew his request for injury testing but still called the police, demanding compensation. Zhao Yan, however, threatened to file a workplace sexual harassment complaint. Seeing the situation turn against him, Ouyang Tang quickly fled. Despite being knocked down, Xu Cheng Ran was intrigued by the "violent beauty" and playfully badgered Zhao Yan for her WeChat to send him a "red packet" as compensation.
Zhao Yan complied but then immediately deleted him, leaving Xu Cheng Ran amused by the interaction. Once fully charged, Gu Chuan came downstairs to find Jiang Xiaoning asleep and kindly covered her with a blanket. At that moment, his doctor called. The significant electrical discharge from Gu Chuan's heart had triggered an alarm.
Gu Chuan inquired about losing consciousness for a few seconds, and the doctor explained it was a protective reboot mechanism for his mechanical heart under overload, a dangerous process where prolonged rebooting could lead to brain hypoxia and risk his life. The doctor then asked if Gu Chuan was in love.
Though Gu Chuan denied it, the doctor sternly warned him to control his emotions and avoid romantic relationships, as excitement and an elevated heart rate from intimacy—including holding hands, hugging, or kissing—would cause his mechanical heart to discharge and malfunction, posing a severe threat to his life. Gu Chuan, frustrated, told the doctor he had been promising a solution for ten years and hung up.
