Gu Chuan quickly bid farewell to Jiang Xiaoning, his shock evident, as the news of his Jin An Award win settled in. As Jiang Xiaoning departed, she glanced back at Gu Chuan, who stood motionless, his mind reeling. For years, Gu Chuan had diligently worked to complete his life's list, believing that a glorious exit was far better than a meaningless existence.

The Jin An Award, the final stop on his grand farewell performance, was now achieved, yet a sense of reluctance crept into his heart, making him question his long-held plan. The following day, Jiang Xiaoning arrived at the company to discover the news of Gu Chuan winning the Jin An Award. While others were excited, Xu Cheng Ran immediately called Gu Chuan, who was once again at a cemetery.

The salesperson noted a significant change in Gu Chuan's demeanor compared to his previous visit, remarking that he seemed to have lost the firm determination to purchase a burial plot. Since his preferred spot had been sold, Gu Chuan's plans were momentarily delayed. He mused internally that while he had taken a detour, he hadn't wasted time, believing that persistent effort would always lead to one's destination, and wondering if life might offer another path.

Back at the office, despite the joyous congratulations from his colleagues, Gu Chuan's expression remained subdued. Xu Cheng Ran, sensing his brother's inner turmoil, approached him, asking about his future plans. Gu Chuan insisted on continuing his original plan, but Xu Cheng Ran, his dearest friend, argued that Gu Chuan's recent changes might necessitate altering his "unreliable plan."

Xu Cheng Ran pressed further, urging Gu Chuan to consider not only himself but also those who cared for him, including his parents, the Chuan Studio team, and Jiang Xiaoning, whom he still viewed as a young person yet to achieve her full potential. Gu Chuan remained silent, gazing out the window, deep in thought. Later, Jiang Xiaoning waited for Gu Chuan after work, offering to drive him home and expressing concern about his worried expression.

She suggested that achieving a dream isn't always a bad thing and encouraged him to set new goals if he felt lost, even offering to help him brainstorm ideas for his future. Gu Chuan, intrigued, told her he looked forward to her advice. That night, Gu Chuan called his parents. Despite his prestigious win, there was no joy on his face. He confessed that he hadn't been a filial son, admitting he hadn't married, had children, or lived with them.

His father, however, did not admonish him, instead affectionately telling him that their only wish was for him to be happy, not to suffer for their pride. Gu Chuan, feeling a sudden blur in his vision, confessed he missed them. His parents reassured him of their love and pride, urging him to take a rest and take care of himself. Gu Chuan promised he would take a long break.

The next day, Gu Chuan donned a luxurious suit for the Jin An Award ceremony, which greatly impressed Jiang Xiaoning and Su Manlin. Together with Xu Cheng Ran, they attended the international event filled with prominent designers. Gu Chuan, as the youngest designer, was awarded the evening's most prestigious prize. He walked confidently to the stage, grasping the trophy with a mix of complex emotions, and delivered a profound speech.

He spoke of his hope that Chinese designers would showcase the deep wisdom of their culture rather than superficial symbols, advocating for linking modernization with traditional Chinese history and lifestyle. He envisioned architecture that transcended materialism, giving rise to new forms based on cultural needs. Jiang Xiaoning gazed at him from the audience, boundless admiration in her eyes, applauding with all her might.

When the host asked about his future plans, Gu Chuan stated he had none yet but was "waiting for a piece of advice about his future plan." Jiang Xiaoning immediately realized he was referring to her earlier suggestion, and her heart was deeply touched. After the ceremony, Gu Chuan declined Xu Cheng Ran's invitation to an after-party, preferring a quiet place. Jiang Xiaoning followed him, and they stood together in silence, admiring the night view.

Meanwhile, Su Manlin, Xu Cheng Ran, and the company staff waited in vain at the designated celebration venue. Inspired by the sparkling city lights and a surge of courage, Jiang Xiaoning turned to Gu Chuan and confessed her feelings. Tears welled up as she told him he had become her sole motivation and idol, and that she had worked tirelessly to become a better person, hoping to close the distance between them.

Gu Chuan, however, gently but firmly steered the conversation back to her studies, explaining that he was still in a dilemma and needed more time to think things through before discussing their relationship. Sensing his rejection, Jiang Xiaoning, though disheartened, composed herself and agreed to focus on her work. She walked away, leaving Gu Chuan to watch her retreating figure with a pang of regret.

Back in her room, Jiang Xiaoning looked at the Mr. Lizard doll Gu Chuan had given her, listening to recordings of his voice echoing his words of encouragement. Unable to hold back her tears, she finally broke down. Gu Chuan, too, was in turmoil, staring at the crow doll in his hand. He reflected on the past decade he had spent living in darkness, likening Jiang Xiaoning's appearance to a brilliant light illuminating his life.

Yet, he couldn't shake the fear that his future might once again plunge into darkness, questioning how he could dare to hope for the light to reappear in such circumstances. He realized that it wasn't that he didn't want to hear her confession, but rather that as someone who couldn't even live a normal life, he simply didn't have the courage to listen.
