At a family feast for blessings, Madam instructs Li Chuyue to share a bench with An Jingzhao due to limited seating. Bai Zhi approaches, ostensibly to apologize to Chuyue for a past sparring incident, and offers a toast. Knowing Bai Zhi’s feelings for Jingzhao, Chuyue pulls her aside, reveals her own disinterest in him and her imminent departure, and offers to help Bai Zhi become the Young Madam.
Chuyue proposes a plan for an "indirect kiss": Bai Zhi will sip from a cup, which Chuyue will then offer to Jingzhao. However, the plan backfires when Jingzhao refuses to drink from a cup used by another woman and instead drinks from Chuyue's own cup. Panicked, Bai Zhi realizes he has consumed the wine she had poisoned, which was intended for Chuyue.
Bai Zhi urgently tries to speak with Jingzhao, but after being rebuffed, she abruptly excuses herself, claiming to feel unwell and privately worrying that a mix-up has caused her to be poisoned instead. Moments later, Jingzhao becomes visibly agitated and feverish, warning Chuyue to stay away. Drawing on her knowledge from watching dramas, Chuyue correctly deduces he has ingested an aphrodisiac. When she tries to leave, she discovers the door is locked.
Overwhelmed by the drug's effects, Jingzhao embraces her, but she cleverly escapes his grasp by claiming she is about to burp. Meanwhile, a rival, Zhou Wei, vows revenge on Jingzhao for a past deception, plotting to have him assassinated in his bridal chamber as a "big gift." The wedding ceremony commences, during which Bai Zhi attempts to trip Chuyue and mocks her for a lack of manners. Jingzhao intervenes, defending Chuyue and taking responsibility for her etiquette.
Touched, Chuyue playfully asks about his ideal wife. He describes a woman who is short, far from beautiful, and unladylike—a description that perfectly matches Chuyue, prompting her to call him "blind." The ceremony is interrupted by masked assailants, whom Jingzhao swiftly subdues, dismissing them as remnants of the Beiming sect. He then instructs Chuyue not to lift her bridal veil before they enter the bridal chamber. Alone in the chamber, Chuyue tries in vain to return to her modern world.
While Jingzhao is outside hosting guests, the assassin Bingqin enters, knocks Chuyue unconscious, and abducts her, leaving a substitute bride in her place. At the banquet, Zhou Wei congratulates Jingzhao, cryptically mentioning a "big gift" and noting that the wine contains a mix of "Cold Lake" and "Bamboo-leaf Green," hinting at a hidden scheme. Returning to the bridal chamber, a suspicious Jingzhao lifts the substitute bride's veil, revealing her to be the assassin, Bingqin.
A fierce fight erupts between her and Jingzhao's subordinate, who was disguised as the groom. The subordinate is injured in the confrontation. It is later confirmed that Bingqin has mastered the Tianxuan Heart Sutra, leading Jingzhao to suspect it was secretly copied by a man named Yuan Shu. He orders his subordinate, Li Qing, to investigate Yuan Shu and confirms that tracing powder was scattered to track the assassins.
Elsewhere, upon learning of the failure, a furious Zhou Wei identifies the expert sword wounds on his fallen men, suspecting the involvement of the highly skilled Li Qing from Yuwei Hall, and orders a piece of fabric from the scene to be traced. Sometime later, Jingzhao attempts to kiss Chuyue. She deflects by asking about local customs to share with her family, but he playfully suggests this includes consummating their marriage.
She refuses, citing loyalty to her modern-world crush, Gu Qingfeng. As Jingzhao leans in and kisses her, they are both instantly transported to Chuyue's modern-day bedroom. They deduce that a passage exists between their rooms, with the bed acting as the conduit. Chuyue excitedly theorizes about wormholes and multiverses. A check of her computer confirms that seven days have passed in both worlds, meaning she has missed a design competition deadline.
Shortly after, Chuyue's parents and younger brother, Yangyang, arrive unexpectedly. Chuyue quickly hides Jingzhao, but Yangyang spots him and loudly announces to their parents that his sister has brought a man home. Chuyue improvises, claiming Jingzhao is a model for a commercial. Suspicious about her recent absence, her parents decide to stay the night to assess him. Alone again, Jingzhao asks about a strange fragrance.
Chuyue jokingly claims it is a powerful sleeping agent she used on him because he is handsome, admitting she took an antidote beforehand before revealing she is teasing. She then introduces him to modern wonders: a humidifier, an AI assistant named Xiaodu that plays music, a computer for accessing global information, and a car for transportation.
