Love Is an Accident Episode 23 Recap
> Love Is an Accident Recap
After recovering from his injuries, An Jingzhao prepared to return to his father, eager to continue the search for the individual practicing the Art of Starshift. Chief Han, believing the witch Hongfei to be responsible for Senior Yueming’s death, impulsively sought revenge. An Jingzhao cautioned him, reminding him of Hongfei’s formidable skills and the unconfirmed identity of the true practitioner, taking on the responsibility to investigate the matter himself.
Meanwhile, Chuyue and Miss Han shared a farewell, with Chuyue expressing her desire to become an “emotionless money-making machine.” Later, Li San, caught sneaking around, was brought before An Jingzhao. He revealed that the Art of Starshift manual, which his master had hidden in a secret compartment within the cliff cave to prevent it from harming the martial arts world, had been stolen. He suspected An Jingzhao and his companions, as they were the only recent visitors to the cave.
However, others doubted Hongfei's involvement, believing her nature would preclude her from hiding such an act. During a stop for An Jingzhao to heal, Jingling used the pretext of fetching water to go outside. He then challenged An Jingzhao to a practice duel with a vine, during which he intentionally struck An Jingzhao and feigned it was an accident. Soon after, Hongfei appeared, accusing An Jingzhao of stealing the Art of Starshift and killing Yueming.
Chuyue bravely stepped forward to defend An Jingzhao’s integrity. Furious, Hongfei seized Chuyue, vowing to kill her if An Jingzhao did not return the manual by the next day. While held captive, Chuyue tried to ease the tension with Hongfei by suggesting they talk about "sisterly topics." She mentioned seeing Hongfei’s boyfriend, Yuege, which led to a lighthearted discussion where they rated Yuege and An Jingzhao's attributes.
Chuyue then pleaded with Hongfei to allow An Jingzhao inside to prove his innocence. Hongfei agreed, but forced Chuyue to consume a supposed poison, promising an antidote only if An Jingzhao's innocence was proven. When An Jingzhao arrived, Hongfei examined the mark on his shoulder and recognized it was not from her own Nine Poisons Whip. She apologized for her hasty accusations and vanished, telling Chuyue that she had given her a chance.
Chuyue then feigned discomfort, hinting at Hongfei’s earlier suggestion that intimacy would cure the poison. An Jingzhao, realizing there was no poison, dismissed her antics and urged they find a way out, but Chuyue revealed she already knew the exit and opened it. An Jingzhao later informed his father that Chief Han had recovered but lost his internal power. He also presented a letter from the chief breaking off the arranged marriage, as Miss Han was unwilling to proceed.
An Jingzhao then sought his father's permission to marry Chuyue. His father initially expressed reservations, noting Chuyue's lack of a sect background and her inability to assist in managing Yunwei Villa. An Jingzhao insisted he sought a loving wife, not an assistant, eventually convincing his father to agree on the condition that the marriage would take place only after the Art of Starshift practitioner was found.
Meanwhile, Jingling learned of the impending marriage and resolved to separate the couple by uncovering the secret of Chuyue’s hometown. He instructed a subordinate to follow Chuyue after she was overheard saying she needed to go home. Chuyue, having completed an intricate embroidery for a deadline, desperately needed a thunderstorm to return home and was advised to seek a weather forecast from the master of Tianyun Temple.
Jingling orchestrated a deception, instructing a subordinate to stage a body in the suburbs to appear as if injured by the Art of Starshift, successfully distracting An Jingzhao. Jingling then invited Chuyue to a celebratory dinner for her completed garment. Chuyue was delighted by a dessert resembling tiramisu and speculated the chef might be from her hometown. Jingling revealed he had specially requested it.
Chuyue playfully called Jingling her "brother from a previous life" and described her hometown as technologically advanced, promising to take him there someday. Later, under the influence of alcohol, Chuyue revealed to Jingling that her way home was a "magical passage" in her room, which she intended to use that very night. An Jingzhao arrived, interrupting her before she could say more. A tipsy Chuyue openly flirted with him, calling him a "peacock" that made her want to "sin."
An Jingzhao questioned Jingling about Chuyue’s excessive drinking, but Chuyue interjected, claiming she had wanted to drink. Jingling later brought hangover soup to Chuyue's room, apologizing to An Jingzhao and subtly observing the room's layout before leaving. Afterward, Jingling witnessed An Jingzhao and Chuyue kissing and, in a moment of possessiveness, declared Chuyue was "his." The next morning, Chuyue woke up distressed, realizing she had missed the thunderstorm and her submission deadline.
She prayed to the "Heavens" and the "Dragon King" for another storm. Her brother, Li Chuyang, acting as her guardian, personally delivered her artwork for her. On his way to school, Li Chuyang was questioned by an old man about how they arrived from Shangyu and about a jade pendant, claiming its owner possessed a stolen sword. Li Chuyang denied knowing anything and hurried off.
An Jingzhao was informed of a nun's body found at a relay station, seemingly injured by the Art of Starshift. Upon investigation, he observed no signs of struggle and concluded the nun was killed by a non-martial artist she knew, ruling out Hongfei. A disciple revealed the nun had left to meet an old friend after receiving a letter.
An old letter was found on the body, leading them to inquire about a woman named Fang Yue, whom the nun was going to meet. An Jingzhao learned that Fang Yue possessed a list of names relevant to the case but would not provide it unless he personally visited and demonstrated the Mingxiao Sword Technique, which he decided to do immediately. Separately, Jingling discussed martial arts with his mother, acknowledging he needed to master both "Strong Power" and "Neutral Power." His mother revealed that besides Tie Dalin of the Iron Fist Gang, the Valley Lord of the Magic Flower Valley also practiced "Strong Power," presenting a new target for Jingling.
