He explains that the chaos surrounding the immortality fruit stems from human greed, but assures her his desire to protect her is genuine. Chunhua challenges him, asking if Fu Lou's protectiveness towards Lady You Si is also greed, and if he himself is without greed. Shangguan Qiuyue observes that Chunhua has changed significantly, noting that she, who once approached him and Xiao Bai with innocent enthusiasm, now dares not trust anything.
Chunhua admits her heart has grown cold after completing her task, despite her initial passionate pursuit of true love.
