> Love Better Than Immortality Recap

Chunhua confronts Shangguan Qiuyue, expressing her suspicion that the widespread pursuit of the immortality fruit is not merely Fengming Manor's trap, but also his. She questions if he is there to protect her, or simply to witness the ensuing chaos and see how many more people will fall into the traps. Shangguan Qiuyue retorts that Chunhua no longer trusts him, making any answer he gives futile.

He explains that the chaos surrounding the immortality fruit stems from human greed, but assures her his desire to protect her is genuine. Chunhua challenges him, asking if Fu Lou's protectiveness towards Lady You Si is also greed, and if he himself is without greed. Shangguan Qiuyue observes that Chunhua has changed significantly, noting that she, who once approached him and Xiao Bai with innocent enthusiasm, now dares not trust anything.

Chunhua admits her heart has grown cold after completing her task, despite her initial passionate pursuit of true love. Shangguan Qiuyue finds her transformation acceptable, stating that he loves her whether she is pure or thoughtful, and urges her to observe carefully as events unfold the next day. Feeling disheartened, Chunhua wanders alone in the courtyard, where she encounters Xiao Bai. He inquires about her well-being, and she suggests they walk together.

She reminisces about their past, recalling how he accepted her despite her suspicious origins and actions, even when she was suspected of killing the Medical Sage. She describes calling him "darling" shamelessly and how he never rejected her. Xiao Bai explains that his father taught him to uphold justice for the Wulin, which is why he brought her back, believing she was innocent and pure, unlike other women he had met, and his fiancée, Hua Xiaolei.

Chunhua reflects that she truly believed she had found real love then, but now feels lost and that her desires are not aligning with her reality. She passionately pleads with Xiao Bai to ensure the safety of Fu Lou and Lady You Si at the upcoming immortality fruit conference, pointing out that only someone as desperate as Fu Lou would fall for such a clear trap.

Xiao Bai deflects her plea by reiterating his father's teachings about prioritizing the Wulin's peace, emphasizing that one must possess the ability to pacify the realm, not merely make empty promises. Chunhua challenges him, arguing that a man who cannot even care for a woman cannot truly care for the world. Xiao Bai gently takes her hand, assuring her that she remains his most cherished Chunhua and nothing has changed.

However, when Chunhua presses him for a sincere promise to protect Fu Lou and Lady You Si, Xiao Bai coldly states that as members of the evil sect, their deaths would be a worthy sacrifice if it brought peace to the Wulin. Realizing his true intentions, Chunhua asks him whether he would sacrifice her if it meant achieving his perceived peace for the martial arts world.

Xiao Bai avoids a direct answer, claiming he would never let such a scenario occur. Disheartened by his unwavering conviction and apparent ruthlessness, Chunhua turns and departs. Fu Lou arrives as arranged, prompting Xiao Bai to acknowledge his adherence to promises. Despite objections from others, Xiao Bai ensures that according to the conference rules, Fu Lou receives the immortality fruit in exchange for his candid Guilty Confession Letter, reminding everyone that Fu Lou has sworn to die as penance afterward.

Meanwhile, Chunhua accompanies Lady You Si, who awaits Fu Lou. Suddenly, Shangguan Qiuyue makes a dramatic entrance. Recognizing him, Lady You Si excuses herself, instructing Shangguan Qiuyue to talk with Chunhua while she goes to find her husband. Chunhua confronts Shangguan Qiuyue, expressing her annoyance at his calm and confident demeanor, reminiscent of Xiao Bai. She accuses him of being there merely for entertainment.

Shangguan Qiuyue admits that while witnessing entertainment is pleasant, his true desire is to take her back to Thousand Moon Cave. He correctly infers that Xiao Bai has upset her. Chunhua explains that she must tolerate her unhappiness with Xiao Bai because he acts for the sake of Wulin justice. She then presses Shangguan Qiuyue on his own intentions, to which he promises to protect her from any wrong.

He clarifies that he will not interfere directly, but will observe from a distance to prevent Xiao Bai from losing composure upon seeing him, reminding her of their earlier wager. Fu Lou brings the immortality fruit to Lady You Si, and they share a tender moment, dreaming of a future where they will travel and enjoy life together once her poison is cured. Fu Lou assures her he will return after negotiating with the others.

He then publicly presents his Guilty Confession Letter, declaring his intention to die as penance once Lady You Si has consumed the immortality fruit. However, a furious Miss Feng discovers her father, Feng Qianwei, is not on the list of victims, accusing Fu Lou of lying.

Fu Lou vehemently denies killing Feng Qianwei and sensationally reveals that it was Miss Feng's own father who personally murdered the Medical Sage after failing to find the immortality fruit at the Eight Immortals Medicine Hall, a deed Fu Lou witnessed. When Fu Lou claims to know the true killer of Feng Qianwei, Chief Leng quickly intervenes, attempting to discredit Fu Lou and redirect the focus to the numerous other victims on the list.

To prove his veracity, Fu Lou calls upon Chunhua to corroborate his claims. He asks Chunhua directly if Feng Qianwei had conspired to kidnap her using his own daughter as bait, and Chunhua confirms this, thereby exposing Feng Qianwei's deceptive character. Fu Lou concludes by stating that he has confessed truthfully to ensure Lady You Si's safety and will fulfill his promise of self-sacrifice once she is secured by Fengming Manor.

Anticipating his imminent demise, Fu Lou tearfully entrusts Lady You Si's safety to Chunhua, asking her to take Lady You Si away and use the Legend Valley token to seek protection from either Shangguan Qiuyue or Xiao Bai. Chunhua, her eyes filled with tears, promises to do so. As Fu Lou prepares to face the righteous sects alone, Shangguan Qiuyue makes another appearance, remarking on the grand event of the Guilty Confession Letter.

Xiao Bai spots him and attempts to approach, but Qin Liufeng intervenes, warning him to be cautious of hidden enemies. Shangguan Qiuyue then pointedly addresses Chief Leng, suggesting that while Fu Lou’s honesty is admirable, it doesn't excuse the deaths on his list, subtly hinting at a deeper conspiracy. Miss Feng, desperate for answers, directly asks Shangguan Qiuyue who killed her father.

Shangguan Qiuyue vaguely replies that the killer is among those present but does not name him, before departing with a promise to return at moonrise. Miss Feng then turns to Fu Lou for the truth. Fearing exposure, Chief Leng instantly demonizes Fu Lou, rallying his disciples to attack him. Fu Lou, remembering Chunhua's earlier plea not to harm others unnecessarily and secretly seeking death, still engages in a fierce battle.

Amidst the chaos, Chief Leng seizes an opportunity and stealthily launches a hidden arrow, gravely wounding Fu Lou. From a distance, Lady You Si anxiously hears the sounds of conflict, clinging to the hope that it's merely a negotiation, but Chunhua sorrowfully confirms that it is a full-blown slaughter. Distraught, Lady You Si expresses her desire to join Fu Lou.
