Legend of Fei Episode 42 Recap
> Legend of Fei Recap
Back then, Zhou Yitang privately stole the military token to resolve the impending disaster of the Forty-Eight Strongholds, and therefore took the blame, crippling his own martial arts in front of the entire army to uphold the strict military discipline. Now, Zhou Yitang, as a crippled man, has once again taken charge of military power, showing his high strategic ability.
It was naturally within Zhou Yitang's expectations that someone would attempt to assassinate him on his way back to the Forty-Eight Strongholds. Yu Wenzhi's men launched a night raid on Zhou Yitang's carriage. Discovering it was empty, they knew they had fallen into a trap and hurriedly withdrew. Little did they know, Zhou Yitang was indeed within the convoy, but he had disguised himself as an accompanying soldier for concealment, successfully repelling the attackers without a fight.
Further ahead was the territory of the Forty-Eight Strongholds. Zhou Yitang ordered Wen Yu to rush back to the military camp to oversee the overall situation, and solemnly instructed him that no matter what rumors he heard, he must not let himself be thrown into disarray. Zhou Yitang seemed to know clearly that this trip was one of nine deaths and one life, and in his words, he intended to hand over military power to Wen Yu again.
By the Xi Mo River, Zhou Fei's martial arts posture captivated Xie Yun. He drew portraits and made them into Kongming lanterns. The two watched the Kongming lanterns fly towards the sky, carrying their aspirations for wishes to come true, free to come and go. Such a peaceful life was what Xie Yun sought his entire life; every moment spent together was the most precious instant for both of them.
That night, Hu Tianying disguised herself as a healer and infiltrated Chen Zichen's residence. With her excellent medical skills, she gained Mr. Bai's trust. On the sickbed, Chen Zichen was in a coma. Several doctors were arguing heatedly over his condition but could do nothing. Chen Zichen's coma was originally caused by Hu Tianying poisoning him.
When Mr. Bai saw her give a dose of medicine, Chen Zichen immediately turned from critical to stable and soon woke up, which made Mr. Bai trust Hu Tianying even more. Hu Tianying indicated that Chen Zichen's condition was caused by deep-seated lovesickness and that to completely remove the root cause of the illness, only proposing marriage at the Forty-Eight Strongholds would suffice. Without Shen Tianshu's help, Yu Wenzhi originally didn't expect to successfully assassinate Zhou Yitang.
Yu Wenzhi intended to use Hu Tianying to get involved, infiltrate the Forty-Eight Strongholds alone to create a situation, and force Shen Tianshu to act. Who knew that Shen Tianshu remained unmoved from beginning to end? He then turned the tables, threatening Yu Wenzhi that after they cooperated to obtain the Water Ripples token, he was not allowed to lay a finger on the treasure within the Hai Tian Yi Se.
With Mr. Bai acting as a matchmaker, Chen Zichen came to the Forty-Eight Strongholds with substantial betrothal gifts to propose marriage. Hu Tianying thus successfully infiltrated the interior of the Forty-Eight Strongholds and acted alone on the pretext of feeling unwell. Chen Zichen and Mr. Bai never suspected Hu Tianying's identity and went straight to meet Li Jinrong to propose the marriage alliance.
The Forty-Eight Strongholds never cared about the common etiquette practiced down the mountain; love between men and women was entirely voluntary. When Chen Zichen came to propose marriage, he naturally only needed to seek Zhou Fei's consent. When Zhou Fei heard that Chen Zichen had come to propose, she was not only not anxious but deliberately had Li Yan test Xie Yun's feelings.
Zhou Fei, disregarding Xie Yun's anxious look, took Chen Zichen alone to the banks of the Xi Mo River. During a spar, Zhou Fei used Chen Zichen's ordinary martial arts as an excuse but failed to make him retreat in the face of difficulty. She then declared that a wild flower on a stone in the Xi Mo River was required as the betrothal gift. The Xi Mo River was guarded by the Qianji Array.
Xie Yun went directly for the wild flower, making Chen Zichen understand that only he could afford this betrothal gift. Upon learning that Xie Yun and Zhou Fei had long since pledged their lives to each other, Chen Zichen instantly regretted proposing marriage. He found it even harder to understand that Xie Yun was actually willing to lower his status and become a live-in son-in-law at the Forty-Eight Strongholds alone.
But for Xie Yun, being able to live peacefully in the stronghold, teach and nurture others, and spend the rest of his time with Zhou Fei was already enough. With this move, Xie Yun then took advantage of being alone with Zhou Fei to officially propose to the woman he loved, presenting a wild flower from the mountain in his hand.
Xie Yun considered himself someone with a thin fate, a frail body, weak family ties, possessing nothing of value, and not having long to live. His only wish was to stay with Zhou Fei without letting her down; as long as he was alive for a day, he would not abandon her. The marriage proposal was settled.
Xie Yun asked Li Yan to help prepare a surprise and instructed her to go down the mountain to Coldwater Town to fetch a pot of Zhou Fei's favorite fine wine. Li Yan had originally wanted to go with Yang Jin, but who knew that this fool was obsessed with studying saber techniques with the stronghold disciples and completely forgot about going down the mountain? Li Yan had no choice but to go alone.
