Shi Xiaoci encountered Du Lingfeng and, after a brief, flirtatious exchange, kicked him when he feigned ignorance about providing his personal details for a report. Chastened, he obediently filled out the information. Jiang Yitian observed this and later pulled Shi Xiaoci aside, expressing concern. He warned her that Du Lingfeng was a "headline maniac" and a notorious playboy, advising her to keep her distance.
Shi Xiaoci, however, saw him as a teammate and thought such a playboy deserved to be humbled, suggesting she was the right person to "trample on" him. Jiang Yitian then urged her to focus on her training instead. Du Lingfeng later found Shi Xiaoci and her teammates in the canteen. He questioned the campus's quality of life and declared his intention to improve it for them, starting with food.
Despite the team members informing him that athletes were prohibited from eating outside food, he had a vast array of takeout delivered. Realizing his mistake, Du Lingfeng awkwardly offered all the food to the delivery drivers for their lunch. Meanwhile, Jiang Yitian approached Shen Qingyuan in the canteen, asking if he was trying to stake a claim on Tang Xin against Du Lingfeng. Shen Qingyuan dismissed Du Lingfeng as merely annoying.
When asked about his attitude towards Tang Xin, Shen Qingyuan stated he wanted their connection to evolve beyond low-level instincts like pheromones into something "higher." Jiang Yitian interpreted this as love and advised him to first break the "stranger barrier." Soon after, Shi Xiaoci approached Shen Qingyuan, suggesting he was conflating his shooting problems with his issues concerning Tang Xin, and advised him to master both rather than choosing one. Shen Qingyuan nodded in understanding.
When Du Lingfeng joined them, Shen Qingyuan firmly told him to stay away from Tang Xin. Du Lingfeng quickly denied any involvement to Shi Xiaoci. Jiang Yitian then loudly asked if Du Lingfeng intended to court Shi Xiaoci, causing Du Lingfeng, wary of creating a media spectacle, to quickly find an excuse to leave. Tang Xin located Du Lingfeng on campus and urged him to resume the partnership with her company, Rui Live.
He agreed on the condition that she act as his personal errand runner and be "on call," a term Tang Xin readily accepted. Later, Shen Qingyuan went to the sports field to run laps, a personal habit for when his practice shots fall below a certain score. After Jiang Yitian tallied Du Lingfeng's poor results, Du Lingfeng learned he had to run thirty laps as well. He called Tang Xin, demanding she bring water to the field.
There, Du Lingfeng mocked Shen Qingyuan's running speed. When Tang Xin arrived, she explained she had to take a scooter and wear a helmet to get there on time. Du Lingfeng complained about the room-temperature water she brought. As Tang Xin offered to get ice, Shen Qingyuan intervened, told Du Lingfeng to drink it, and then proposed another race. During the run, Shen Qingyuan deliberately tripped Du Lingfeng, causing him to fall.
As rain began, Du Lingfeng and Shen Qingyuan took shelter. Du Lingfeng scolded Tang Xin over the phone for not bringing an umbrella, though she arrived with plenty of towels. He began to dry her hair with a towel, and Shen Qingyuan also moved to help, but Tang Xin shied away. Just then, Shi Xiaoci arrived with two umbrellas. Du Lingfeng took one for himself and Shi Xiaoci, leaving the other for Shen Qingyuan and Tang Xin.
As they walked away, Du Lingfeng noted Shi Xiaoci's concern for Shen Qingyuan. She countered by pointing out Du Lingfeng's own interest, prompting him to admit that Shen Qingyuan was his top choice for a lucrative advertising endorsement. She then left him, and Shen Qingyuan, seeing Tang Xin's reluctance to share the remaining umbrella, left it for her and walked off alone in the rain. Witnessing this, Du Lingfeng immediately called to arrange moving into the Haiya team's dormitory.
Du Lingfeng's sudden appearance in Shen Qingyuan's dorm room led to a conflict. Jiang Yitian noted their clashing auras. To settle the dispute, Du Lingfeng challenged Shen Qingyuan to a WarGame—a live-action shooting contest—with the loser having to move out. Shen Qingyuan accepted. Before the game, Du Lingfeng secretly instructed Tang Xin to try to get on Shen Qingyuan's team to act as a mole.
However, the teams were drawn differently: Shen Qingyuan, Shi Xiaoci, and Yang Zhou on one side, and Du Lingfeng, Jiang Yitian, and Tang Xin on the other. Jiang Yitian reassured a disheartened Du Lingfeng that the game was about strategy, not just shooting skill. During the WarGame, after Yang Zhou and Jiang Yitian were eliminated, Du Lingfeng executed a plan. He had Tang Xin scream for help, luring Shen Qingyuan into a trap.
Believing Tang Xin was in danger, Shen Qingyuan exposed his position and was eliminated by Du Lingfeng. Immediately after, Shi Xiaoci, who was lying in wait, eliminated Du Lingfeng. As his final move, Du Lingfeng tricked Shi Xiaoci by shouting a warning to Tang Xin, making it seem she was hiding in a nearby cabin. When Shi Xiaoci entered the cabin, Tang Xin, positioned outside a window, eliminated her, securing victory for their team.
Shi Xiaoci conceded, praising Du Lingfeng's tactical skills. True to his word, Du Lingfeng confirmed he would resume the partnership with Rui Live, thanking Tang Xin for her help. Tang Xin was ecstatic. Shen Qingyuan, however, mistakenly believed her happiness was due to his loss. He jealously confronted her, but as he stepped forward, he tripped and accidentally fell on Tang Xin, kissing her. The shock caused Tang Xin to faint.
When she awoke in the hospital, Shen Qingyuan asked if she had fainted because of their kiss. Flustered, Tang Xin told him to stop talking nonsense and never mention it again, reminding him they had agreed to keep their distance.
