Hello, the Sharpshooter Episode 29 Recap
> Hello, the Sharpshooter Recap
Tang Xin asked Shi Xiaoci if she knew about Shen Qingyuan's habit of sleeping under his bed when stressed or during rainy weather, as he found it comforting. Despite being his partner, Shi Xiaoci was unaware of this and suggested Tang Xin consult Dr. Ding Fang, noting Ding Fang only began working part-time for the shooting team after Shen Qingyuan joined.
Tang Xin also confided in Shi Xiaoci about a vague "bad feeling" regarding Shen Qingyuan's condition, to which Shi Xiaoci offered reassurance. While on a bus, Shi Xiaoci saw Du Lingfeng in his sports car at a traffic light, but they only exchanged a glance. Later, Du Lingfeng went to see his father, who had been in a car accident but was not seriously injured.
His father, remarking on his son's sudden concern, explained that the near-death experience felt like a "rebirth." This prompted him to cancel the "gamble" between them, telling Du Lingfeng he no longer had to secure an endorsement for the company or inherit it. Acknowledging that one never knows if "tomorrow or an accident will come first," he encouraged his son to follow his own path.
Zhou Zuguang spotted Ding Fang with a man he recognized from a previous encounter outside a hotel. Enraged, he confronted her, accusing her of seeing another man while they were still legally married. Ding Fang retorted sharply, urging him to finalize the divorce and stating their marriage had long been "in name only."
She blamed him for their estrangement and reminded him that since they had been separated for over two years, he had no right to question her personal life. She then left with the man, who is actually her patient and has unsuccessfully pursued her in the past. After a stormy night, Shen Qingyuan told Tang Xin that the weather had triggered some unclear images in his mind, causing him to struggle with his breathing.
Seizing the opportunity, Tang Xin asked if he remembered a competition called "Lucky Seven." He did, recalling he was Player No. 7 on Platform No. 7. Excited, Tang Xin pressed further, asking if he remembered a girl in the audience who cheered for him. She reminded him that the host had pointed out their shared number seven, calling the girl his potential "Luck Fairy." Disappointingly, Shen Qingyuan had no memory of her.
Tang Xin then asked about his car accident, and he confirmed his vision surgery occurred after it. Finally, when she asked about their first meeting, he playfully recalled it was when she "accosted" him, pretending they knew each other. Tang Xin visited Dr. Ding Fang to discuss Shen Qingyuan's progress, mentioning he was recalling fragments related to his car accident. Ding Fang theorized that both Tang Xin and Shen Qingyuan might have PTSD, though with different symptoms.
She explained "intrusive re-experiencing" and "psychogenic amnesia," suggesting Shen Qingyuan's condition was a form of selective amnesia where he had mentally "erased a spot." Tang Xin immediately guessed she was that "spot," and Ding Fang confirmed it was a strong possibility, even suggesting Tang Xin might be directly connected to the car accident. She presented Tang Xin with two risky options: either "face it" by stimulating his memories further or "numb him" by letting him forget the past entirely.
A couple in the hospital, Shan Shan and her boyfriend, argued over how to cut a watermelon. Shan Shan argued for cutting it "widthways," citing an online tip that this makes seeds easier to remove. Her boyfriend insisted on cutting it "vertically" to ensure they both got the sweeter center parts. Shan Shan then admitted her real reason was consideration for his picky eating habits, as she didn't want him to waste any less sweet pieces.
Touched by her thoughtfulness, her boyfriend immediately apologized, and they reconciled without needing an arbitrator. They then noticed Shen Qingyuan meticulously removing the seeds from a pitaya, and he explained he was doing it for Tang Xin. Witnessing this gesture, Shan Shan's boyfriend felt humbled and pulled her away, impressed by Shen Qingyuan's level of care.
Tang Xin told Shen Qingyuan she was going to the base and would be back in an hour and a half, instructing him to stay put and remove seeds from a pitaya. When she didn't return on time, Shen Qingyuan grew anxious. Despite his leg injury, he repeatedly tried to leave his ward to find her but was always stopped by nurses and doctors, who warned him that moving could worsen his injury and jeopardize his shooting career.
Frustrated, he enlisted the help of Shan Shan and her boyfriend. The couple created a loud distraction by faking a medical emergency, allowing Shen Qingyuan to slip out of the hospital unnoticed. Shen Qingyuan found Tang Xin by a river, confiding in a hedgehog about her inner conflict. She confessed she was torn between wanting him to remember and fearing what he might recall, worried he might not be as kind to her if his memory fully returned.
Startled by his sudden appearance, she scolded him for leaving the hospital and risking his health. Shen Qingyuan apologized, saying he just wanted to see her. Noticing she was cold, he wrapped her in his large coat in a warm embrace. Moved to tears, Tang Xin pleaded with him not to be "so nice," afraid she wouldn't be able to handle it if he ever left her. The hedgehog suddenly produced white foam from its mouth, alarming Tang Xin.
She and Shen Qingyuan rushed it to a veterinary hospital. The vet reassured them the animal was healthy, explaining the foam was from a behavior called "self-anointing," where a hedgehog mixes its saliva with a new scent and spreads it on its quills to form a bond. For the hospital records, Shen Qingyuan named the hedgehog "Jujube," a name Tang Xin loved because she is fond of eating crisp jujubes.
Unwilling to leave it alone, they decided to ask Shi Xiaoci to care for it temporarily. Shi Xiaoci, hearing Du Lingfeng was depressed and had returned to the training facility, sought him out. She found him exercising but he was cold and dismissive. He told her not to bother explaining anything, cruelly stating they would never be together and that she could go back to "adoring Shen Qingyuan" since he was "more excellent."
He then walked away, blocking her phone number as she tried to call out to him. As a distraught Shi Xiaoci stood there, Tang Xin and Shen Qingyuan arrived with Jujube the hedgehog. Shi Xiaoci agreed to look after it, and seeing how happy and close the couple was, she admitted to envying them and wished them the best. Back at the hospital, a severe thunderstorm caused a power outage in the inpatient department.
Tang Xin, who was getting water, knew Shen Qingyuan feared storms and rushed back to his ward. Just as she expected, she found him huddled and trembling under the bed. Kneeling down, she called his name softly. Shen Qingyuan reached out and gripped her hand tightly, his eyes filled with terror. Seeing the intensity of his fear, Tang Xin gently asked if he had just remembered something.
